Even if Jacksonville somehow ends up winning a Super bowl, they should make themselves the front runners for an Alex Smith deal. It makes too much sense for the Jaguars to go after a veteran game manage that is playing some of the best ball of his career. Give up the first round pick and make it happen.

The Browns should still look at making a change at head coach before the start of free agency. Hue Jackson's 1-31 presence is not going to be a great selling point for potential signings.

Tennessee will most likely lose to the Patriots this weekend, but are the Titans as close to a championship run as this season may indicate?

No, they are not, and several changes within the organization will need to be made before they are.

The Redskins probably won't resign Kirk Cousins and it appears that they are somehow unconcerned about the prospects of not having a starting caliber quarterback for 2018.

With a Cousins-less Skins, a Dallas team that finds ways to struggle and the Giants finding themselves plenty short in stature, are the Eagles set to take over the East for the next several seasons?

Tyrod has gotten worse in the last few years. It does seem correlated to WR talent available to him but he has not shown any improvement on his mid-deep accuracy whatsoever. I would say it regressed. He is done with the Bills but he was the correct choice the last few years outside of not drafting Mahomes or Watson themselves.

Mariota's injury issues is a cause for concern and hope. The concerns are obvious but if he does fully recover next season then perhaps he will return to pre-injury 2016 form. That could theoretically completely fix their offensive issues and as a bonus help their defense. However being close to a championship doesn't have much to do with this season. They were good enough to get in the playoffs due to a week AFC and had some flashes. It's a good experience for the team but they need a healthy QB before they ever think of taking the next step.

Bortles has beed good (not great) this years and he is making decisions tough. Even with the team "committed" on their QB decision no matter what happens. we won't know until he end. Bortles' has gotten better by not having as many bad passes but despite the drop in INTs he has roughly the same INT% as last year thanks to less passes due to a stronger run game. His completion percentage is finally just over 60%.... but all of this isn't showing real significant signs of improvement and he's much worse than Alex Smith. Smith just had the best season of his career and there is no debate that each of Smith's seasons since 2011 have been better than any of Bortles'.

If the Jags can get a QB like Alex Smith they need to jump at it and move on from Bortles.

Dallas is at an important time right now and the Cowboys are at an important crossroads soon. Can this team bring success with the suddenly mortal and aging pieces from the Romo era still a major part of the team? They need replacements fast but they are the biggest threat to the Eagles assuming the Eagles stay in a period of consistent success. No one should really be worried about Washington and while New York seems like the typical NFC East team that can have a good season or even great season or two despite a team full of holes, they are still a team full of tons of holes.

    Or Cousins.

    You mean the same Hue Jackson who;

    • A mere two years ago was heralded as one of the hottest head coaching candidates in the NFL?
    • Had most of the "experts" in here saying, "too bad he went with the Browns - Haslam will just fire him in two years"?
    • Had a GM who handed him a roster not only stripped down to the studs, but stripped down to the exterior sheathing?
    • Apparently had any input as far as QB aquisition ignored in favor of adding draft picks and/or cap space?

To a Dallas fan, their inconsistency is maddening. 12-4 in 2014, 4-12 the year after. 13-3 in 2016, 9-7 and out of the playoffs this past year.

They're young enough at most spots (TE aside), but need a better plan at swing OT (they got killed with Tyron Smith out), need another strong option at LB (they were awful when Sean Lee didn't play), and could be in the market for a centerfield-type safety (team possibly won't pick up Byron Jones' 5th-year option).

But I like a lot of the pieces they have in place across the board.

Yep, that would be the same guy.

I disagree with some of your bullett points but I respect your frustration.

In the end, players are going to look at the situation before they put ink to paper. Hue’s presence is not a great selling point.

I'd say another WR would benefit this team. Beasley is a slot guy, and Dez has been inconsistent. He looks unstoppable one play, then fumbles or drops the next one. Need an outside receiver who can take the top off the defense. On defense, add a MLB who can back up Lee for a couple years, and add more DB depth.

Agreed. Dez hasn't been "Dez" for a few years now, and it's probably just wishful thinking to think he's going to start delivering 90-1250-12 numbers.

Lee is the Will; Jaylon Smith is the Mike.

did the other 7 teams all vanish off the face of the earth for Jax to win ? lol

Players recruit free agents far more than head coaches or general managers. In the Browns' case, I would think they are also more in tune with the disconnect that existed between Sashi Brown and Hue Jackson. Free agents aren't about to turn down a payday based on some twitter boob's posts.

I think they had to bring Hue back. If you fire him and bring in a new coach that would make 4 coaches in six years. The message being sent whether real or not is you have 2 years or less and if you dont show anything you are gone. Who is taking a job like that? I know some will say a young upcoming hot eager assistant but why would he. If you dont turn it around in a year and a half and are then fired you have to go back to being an assistant somewhere maybe for 2-3 years before getting your shot again. So why not stay a hot assistant and step into a team a year from now that is a little more stable. By keeping Jackson the message has been sent to the next coach that you will have time to get your players and your system in place. so its a win win for the Browns to keep Jackson. either he rights the ship next year and moves forward or because you gave him that extra year you are able to lure a top coach to the team.

Now all bets are off if the Patriots and Belichick were to part ways (doubtful). Of course the problem is to get him you are firing the GM you just hired but hey its Belichick. I hear you why would he want to come back to Cleveland? Simple when people argue he is the GOAT or at least the best coach in the game today someone will always bring up he didnt do squat in Cleveland. So you're proud. you're arrogant you're Bill Belichick and you want to prove once and for all you are the best damn coach ever so how do you do that? You take the Browns and win the freaking Super Bowl that is how.

    Money
    City
    Teammates

Those are bigger selling points to most players than coach
