Hot take: that's not a bad thing.

    Hot take: this would be.

Adding Eliot Wolf to John Dorsey and Alonzo Highsmith would give the Browns -- on paper -- the best front office in the League.

To pair with the worst head coach in its history.

They actually just said, correction Zampese is not in Berea today, expect him tomorrow...

Maybe he will no longer be the worst HC in history if this brain trust can fix the roster AND they add Sean Ryan as a play calling OC...Just saying, progress my friend, that is what it takes...

  5. He's a terrible HC cause his team didn't improve, made horrible in game decisions and probably didn't win a challenge all yr....anybody can win when u have an AS at every position

FWIW I think you guys are both right....We need to look to our future, which is going to be coached by the worst coach ever....If we hire Zampese over Ryan, I'm gonna puke. The nausea is already setting in. Has Hue even been asked if he would give up the play calling? If we hire an OC, but Hue still maintains play calling responsibilities, does it really do much for us? It really is hard to not be pessimistic about the Browns right now. I apologize for that, but I can't help it... Hue Jackson seems to have more power in this organization than anyone not named Haslam, and it's damn near impossible to be confident in that. It just isn't warranted, and I'm worried that we will end up with Zampese and McCarron. We will go through another season from hell, then we will reset the coaching staff at this time next year. Essentially wasting another year while providing us with yet another season of shitty football, all simply because Jimmy wanted to desperately cling to stability. Never mind that we've been stable at the bottom of the sports world for a generation...

Go on this journey with me, ready?
    • Sign Ken Zampese to be your non-play-calling offensive coordinator
    • Trade #33 to the Cincinnati Bengals for A.J. McCarron
    • Draft Sam Darnold #1 overall
    • Trade out of #4 overall for future picks, take a running back later in the '20s

It's just gonna take more time for me to accept what I think is among the worst decisions any sports owner EVER made....retaining Hue Jackson (1-31).

I'm not even sure if I can get over it. When I hear his voice or see his face it makes me ill....Been a while since I disliked a coach this much.

Exactly...That's my nightmare. And I don't even think it would matter who's calling the plays between Zampese and Hue....They both proved to me without a doubt this year that they suck at it...

Zampese's games this season: 4.5 PPG (no touchdowns), 258 YPG, 3 TOPG
    Bengal's w/out Zampese: 20.1 PPG, 283.7 YPG, 1.2 TOPG

Another thing that points to the Browns being players for Alex Smith as the above article mentions....KC spent considerable draft capital last year in their move up for Maholmes. As John Dorsey well knows....And there is no team in football more equipped to help them replenish some of that than the Cleveland Browns....

    Go get Alex Smith.

That would genuinely give Browns fans reason to smile and be excited about next season...Alex is a true pro, and I believe "Hue-proof"...

They also said the interview is for an "assistant" coaching position and not the offensive coordinator. I guess that's good news.

    Preemptively #KillingTheNarrative here...

One thing you'll hear is the same old tired crap - "Alex Smith isn't an AFC North QB". This is the laziest thing to say when being anti-something, but it's something we hear relentlessly. DeShone Kizer is an AFC North QB - how'd that work out?

    Anyhow...

Smith's November, December, and January numbers (career):

    Completion %: 62.0
    TD Rate: 3.8
    INT Rate: 2.3
    YPG: 200
    Rating: 85.5

As for the rest of the field:

    Flacco
    Completion %: 62.6
    TD Rate: 4.3
    INT Rate: 2.3
    YPG: 225
    Rating: 87.3

    Dalton
    Completion %: 59.9
    TD Rate: 4.8
    INT Rate: 2.7
    YPG: 212
    Rating: 84.8

    Roethlisberger
    Completion %: 63.1
    TD Rate: 4.9
    INT Rate: 2.7
    YPG: 256
    Rating: 92.3

And Smith, who's seemingly gotten better with age, posted the following in cold months over the past two seasons:

    Completion %: 66.9
    TD Rate: 3.4
    INT Rate: 2.2
    YPG: 248
    Rating: 90.9

And to add to the nightmare at the end of that list...

Hue Jackson relieved of coaching duties week 8 of 2018 and immediately signs with the Cincinnati Bengals, whom he gave that draft pick to.

For what it's worth, he HAS been asked and publicly stated that he didn't think the offense was ready for an Offensive Coordinator and didn't believe it was fair to put it on a coach to deal with it at the time...he skated the question of play calling duties. I believe it will need to be a direct implementation from Haslem himself. In fact, it may have been something that saved his job, accepting these terms...We shall see. If he doesn't then I will be in the row boat beside you and Sam trying to empty the water faster than it fills the sinking ship. Making Hue be the HC and have nothing to do with the offense is the only thing I am holding onto defending him staying as HC to give the team continuity. THAT is the one thing that MUST change.

I'm glad you mentioned this. Not sure if it is Hue just trying to confuse the situation or not, but it does seem like a lot of gray area on that front....It would be nice if we could just get a straight answer, but I doubt we will...Hue is the master of deflection. Nothing sticks to him for some reason...

I just want to know if Hue would be willing to relinquish play calling responsibilities if we hired an OC, and we can't even get clarity on that...

This is why I believe very strongly that Jimmy H is making a huge mistake holding onto Hue...The guy takes no accountability. He sort of apoligizes for the way things have gone, but he always has reasons why, and none of those ever have anything to do with him whatsoever...

It all adds up to complete bullshit for Browns fan..,..
