FWIW, there's a rumor going around now that Case Keenum will follow Pat Shurmur if he gets a HC job. Between that, and the fact that Minnesota would be crazy to let him go, I've kinda ruled Keenum out as a realistic possibility for us. Garroppolo is IMO, the #1 guy on the market. Cousins is up there as well obviously. I'm not trying to be negative, but I really fear that our own miserable track record is what prevents us from being serious contenders to sign these guys...I mean, for crying out loud, the Patriots wouldn't even trade Garoppolo to us, knowing that they could have received MUCH more in return than what they got from SF. If that's not a kick in the teeth, what is? If it was just about money, we'd have as good a shot as anyone, but it's not. These guys want to win. NFL careers are short. Dorsey Is the former KC GM that once traded for Alex Smith. Alex has one year remaining on his contract, and KC already has his successor in the fold. We know the Chiefs are now open to trading Alex Smith. Dorsey is now our GM. This one makes way too much sense...I believe Alex Smith will be a Cleveland Brown soon, unless Hue Jackson stands in the way, because of his love for this guy: I guess it boils down to, who has more pull, John Dorsey or Hue Jackson? I hope it's Dorsey, but I do believe our incoming veteran QB will definitely be one or the other, between Smith and McCarron....And either way we will still take a QB in the top 4 picks of the draft.
Lym, I've "known" you for about a decade but you need to chill out. This is completely unnecessary. McNeil raised over $65,000 for the Cleveland Food Bank along with can goods and non-perishable items donated at the PARADE. I believe the foodbank gets 4 meals per dollar donated, that's a quarter of a million damn meals for the needy. Parade was the appropriate term as it was a celebration. While the fans have begun protesting tickets sales, this was a celebration of fandom. It was hapless Brown's fans finding solace in the fact that they were fans together. I live in Houston and wear my Browns hard hat and sweater every day, and wear the same sweater every day when I go out. I regularly am stopped, consoled, then congratulated for being a Brown's fan. I would have attended if I could, as would a number of my fellow backers in the area. The ill-wishing of other fans is ridiculous. We all just want a winner. Most of us have experience the thrill of the team being good in out life times and we just want to have it again.
That's great in all but my guys produce as evident being 1st team All Pro while Ohio St guys are getting chewed out from teammates as being "cancerous"

Honestly, I am so sick of hearing about the parade...It's over and it's time to talk about what can be done to make this team one that deserves celebrating in a real way...It is what it is, every fan had a different opinion on what it was, how to utilize it and react to it...in the end, the past TWO years raised a lot of money for the food bank which is one of the most worthwhile local causes so, I can't be "angry" about it. For the record, I do understand the players view on it. Dorsey was right, (although I think Sashi did a great job of managing draft picks and acquiring assets) he certainly left the "good players" on this roster to fend for themselves as far as self respect is concerned due to the lack of sheer numbers or "real football players". They had no chance to compete because of some of the moves made by Sashi. 3 impact moves 1) Not re-signing Mitchell Schwartz (who wanted to come back), not re-signing Terrell Pryor (who wanted to come back) and to a lessor extent because I'm not sure he wanted to come back, not re-signing Tashaun Gipson. I will not blame Sashi for Alex Mack, because he was leaving regardless... 2) Releasing Taylor Gabriel, Josh McCown, Joe Haden and Tramon Williams. 3 of these 4 would have positively impacted the Browns in 2017. Joe Haden, while he wouldn't have impacted the team on the field, would have given this CB room positive veteran leadership. I was fine with the move from a salary standpoint, until you stop and think that he used $17M on Osweiler for the sole purpose of releasing him and collecting a 2nd round draft pick. Money wasn't an issue and for that reason, Haden should have stayed as a positive influence. 3) Avoiding impactful players in the draft, namely passing on Deshaun Watson. I will not go to the Wentz trade as the indicative wrong move, because frankly I still believe it was the right choice at the time. With Watson, he was sitting at #12 and he got greedy..again, it turned out OK as they now have TWO top 4 picks in the draft, but Watson was the best QB in that draft class and he could have had him despite taking the best player overall at #1. We wouldn't even be arguing about a 0-16 parade/protest had they had the following on the roster: Mitchell Schwartz Terrell Pryor (who in turn would have voided the Britt signing) Tashaun Gipson Taylor Gabriel Josh McCown Tramon Williams Deshaun Watson Truthfully, would anyone care that we had the #4 overall pick and Jabrill Peppers, if Deshaun Watson was the QB in waiting behind McCown?
I get that they didn't like it, but they should not have taken to twitter and blasted fans... I respect our players, but none of them were even born when the misery started for Cleveland Browns fans. So they should just shut up about it. They can't possibly understand what it has been like to be a fan of this team for the last 25 years. It wasn't even about the players anyway..
Yep. And here's the major differences: the players are paid for this garbage (1-31) whereas the fans have to pay for this garbage. And the players can leave. Tashaun Gipson ruffled some feathers earlier this season by wishing the team to go 0-16, but nothing he said about his time in Cleveland was wrong. He hated the coaches, hated the organization, but said he had nothing but love for the fans. That's what the parade was about. Now, back to how we get this thing turned around. Schwartz wanted to be here, for sure, but not enough to take the Browns' first (and best) offer. Now, I don't like the way they handled it, but it's not like Cleveland completely ignored him during free agency. They tried to set a tone - they were supposed to be doing that - and they did. Schwartz enjoyed a career year in 2015 prior to hitting free agency. Now, Coleman has been far from excellent: But he's in just his second year playing with the NFL's worst quarterback while Alex Smith is one of the NFL's best and enjoyed a career season - his twelfth. Same situation. Wanted to be here and the Browns offered him a long term contract. He (or his agent) wanted more money and asked for the one-year deal. The Browns wanted him long term because they wanted him to be part of the offense moving forward... he declined for a chance to hit the open market. And this is a move they can correct this offseason by re-signing him. He was miserable in Washington. Not a stretch to say that Matt Ryan is a much better quarterback than DeShone Kizer. Gabriel = JAG and he was coming off his worst season ever when the Browns let him walk: Hue Jackson thought Josh McCown should be coaching the position and not playing it in 2017. He responded by completing 67.3 percent of his passes, throwing 18 touchdowns against 9 interceptions, posting a QB rating of 94.5 and winning five games with a roster nearly universally-considered to be a "tank season". Obviously, he was not a scheme fit in Cleveland. Dollars to donuts Deshaun sat the bench behind Kevin Hogan for the first four games until Hue made the call, then refused to simply the playbook and rely on RPO and college-game concepts like Bill O'Brien did, causing Watson to get injured in his first start.
Sorry @SAS, but you are looking at it as an individual player (hence only ONE impact per player), I was looking at the work as a whole. ALL those players still on the roster and the team doesn't go 0-16, it's that simple. ALL of those moves were conscience moves that as a whole impacted this team to go to 1-31 over two seasons. If NONE were made, except the ones that were available to him to make, Schwartz and Pryor, then we are not having this conversation...and Hue probably looks better to you as well because his job would have been easier...not playoff worthy, but if those moves were handled differently, I would be shocked if we hadn't won at least 5 games in 2017, just by avoiding making bad decisions...the reason I can say this is Josh McCown won that many with a similar roster(had we not made these moves) in New York. 2016 he saw injuries, we get rid of him and he stays healthy enough to win some games for his team...That is the Browns luck.
