Dalton is technically a franchise QB. I know what you mean though.

So, you draft a second round developmental QB, who by ALL ACCOUNTS needs two years to groom before attempting to start him...then after one season you cut him?

Agree. Kizer's shortcomings were mostly mental. I've said all along let him duke it out for the backup QB job.

CONTEXT. IF Cleveland wanted to draft 2 QBs and get a vet they'd have 4 QBs. If hey preferred not to lose the 2nd drafted QB but didn't want to carry 4 QBs then they could always easily cut Kizer.

If I sign a vet and draft a quarterback I'm clearing out the entire quarterback room and signing another addition (possibly a throw off from another roster) to fill it out with 3.

But, I'm only doing that if Hue is gone. If Jackson stays, I still draft a quarterback for the future and make a move for a veteran but I keep Kizer on the roster because of his familiarity with Hue.

Ultimately, my main concern is retaining Jackson and getting things off on the wrong foot with whatever additions I make. The reality is that Hue may be fired by mid season.

  9. Both have started early and haven't looked back...franchise QBs in my book...btw Mariota couldn't carry Winston's jock strap lol

How's that gonna help ya? His familiarity with Hue got us nowhere...IMO That should be of little concern. You either want Kizer based on his potential, or not...

Because he still would be familiar with Hue's system, he's the best arm of the group of quarterbacks you have now and if bad luck strikes and both of the QBs you brought in go down you better have someone that can properly understand the gibberish that Hue slobbers into the mic.

'Cause I don't believe for a minute that the play calling responsibility will get passed to the O.C., and that's why I expect Jackson to get the hook if the Browns continue losing going to the midway mark in 2018.

That was a good read SAS...I've never heard of ndtscouting... I didn't really need further convincing on Mayfield, but I know some people who do.

I like a lot of the work they do. You can usually find their guys on Podcasts during the draft season.

Unlike some places, they don't charge out the ass for services, which is pleasant, too. Helps guys like me who approach this as a hobby and not a job get better at it.

  16. No convincing needed..he's not getting drafted #1 if I'm GM...Brees went top of 2nd round and I can't see him touching his career

You don't think in hindsight Brees would be drafted #1 overall in 2001 by the Falcons?

You're right... I'm sure those other teams are glad they opted for Gerard Warren, David Terrell, Jamal Reynolds, or Rod Gardner.

Ironically, that same draft the Falcons took Mike Vick who also was barely 6'0".

"If Sam Darnold starts this year, he'll be the second-youngest QB to start behind only Tommy Maddox."

Hmm... how did that work out?
