This week's news from Atlanta: the Falcons placed starting left guard Andy Levitre on IR. Levitre had been battling a tricep injury, tried to come back in the Carolina game, but had to come out early after aggravating the injury. Versatile backup Ben Garland will take over the LG role the rest of the way. Garland is also the #2 center and has even played defensive tackle. The team signed running back Terrence Magee from the practice squad to fill the roster spot. And for the deep-dive draft freaks out there, they signed former UNC center Lucas Crowley to fill the opening on the practice squad.
Interesting - I'd heard Wilson might be retiring; maybe the team just WANTED him to retire! I don't know too much about Joe Baker, but the secondary actually played pretty well down the stretch after the rookies (Awuzie, Lewis, Woods) started getting their feet wet.
Jacksonville Jaguars... The Jaguars are expecting to be in better shape at wide receiver for the playoffs than they were at the end of the regular season. Jaguars receiver Marqise Lee is expected to play on Sunday against the Bills, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Lee missed practice on Wednesday as he continues to recover from an injured ankle. Despite hurting his ankle in Week 15 and missing the rest of the season, Lee was the Jaguars’ leading receiver with 56 catches in 2017, so getting him back on the field would be a big plus for Jacksonville. Rookie Keelan Cole emerged as the Jaguars’ top receiver after Lee went down, and the Jaguars will hope to have Lee and Cole, as well as Dede Westbrook and Allen Hurns, all available to quarterback Blake Bortles against the Bills.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS... A month after Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier suffered a serious spinal injury, his father says he is making progress. Vernon Shazier told WPXI that Ryan is regaining feeling in his legs. Vernon still believes his son will play football again. “He’s making progress daily,” Vernon Shazier said. “He’s a long ways from where he was Monday night when he was laying on the field.” Although Vernon Shazier declined to offer more specifics about the nature of Ryan’s improvement, citing Ryan’s wish for privacy, he expressed optimism. “He’s much better,” Vernon said, “but we’ve agreed to keep his progress private until he’s ready to share where he’s at.” Shazier has attended Steelers practices and a game, in a wheelchair. Surprised nobody has brought up the incident involving Jack Kent Cooke's daughter. Apparently, she lashed out at a Jewish family in an Upper East Side restaurant. He ended up with cuts on his face. She ended up with felony assault and battery charges. Interesting ending to the clip as well. http://www.tmz.com/2018/01/04/jack-kent-cook-daughter-arrested-anti-semitic/ Video included^^^
