Translation: a guy who's never called plays and a guy who failed miserably at it. Go jump in the lake, Hue.
Wait, where the HELL did Zampese come into the conversation? I would much rather have Sean Ryan, though he hasn't called plays, he also hasn't screwed up an offense already to the point of being fired... Up and rising, not re-hashed!! Dorsey needs to jump in and sign Sean Ryan...move on to the next step of righting this disaster. Ryan has been in charge of building pro bowl players Zampese has been in charge of overseeing mediocre QB play and destroying a semi-productive offense. How is this even a competition? Get Ryan in here and don't let him leave the building.
FWIW- It's also being reported that the Broncos are interested in Ken Zampese.... I don't get it. Zampese's Bengals were an absolute train wreck at the beginning of this season. He didn't make it through September. Didn't they set a team record for consecutive games without a TD? smh.... This is why I'm having a very difficult time accepting the decision to keep Hue Jackson...
Yeah, the Zampese thing is a head scratcher. I guess it figures that Hue Jackson would want that, no explanation needed, but why the heck would Denver be interested?
He didn't fail to build an offense, he took an offense that was productive and destroyed it... 2017 Your Cleveland Browns were 24th in total offense, Zampese's Bengals were 32nd and it was so bad he had to be fired mid season...How in the hell is he even on anyone's radar for anything other than an assistant to an assistant for special teams or something?
All I can figure is it's because he has the name. It's nepotism. Zampese name goes way back in NFL history. I'm not sure he's as good as ol' Ernie......
https://scout.com/nfl/browns/Article/Cleveland-Browns-2018-NFL-Draft-Picks-113135929 A good breakdown of all the picks we have, and some interesting draft stats....
Because "Cluesless" gets to make the OC hire and not John Dorsey. Hue was never going to bring in someone who didn't (1) run his system and (2) would possibly challenge him in any way.
I've been digging and I can't find a team with a more loaded draft than the Browns will have this season. Even giving away #33 overall to the Bengals for A.J. McCarron, this is a haul. It's also a class very deep in running backs and cornerbacks. This has the makings of a trans-formative year for the Cleveland Browns and it's paramount this get this right. I have optimism around John Dorsey and Alonzo Highsmith - mostly because the other side of the aisle is Hue Jackson and his brood. I had high hopes for Ray Farmer and he squandered an equal amount of draft capital provided to him by a short stint in analytics-based org. running (Banner's lone year here). Assuming #33 is gone for McCarron, they will still hold #1, #4, #35, #60 (projected) and #65 overall before trades. They need to come out of those picks with some combination of: Potential franchise quarterback All Pro offensive player All Pro defensive player Two quality starters No small feat.
Good: no one left to throw under the bus. Bad: hello players tailored to a lame duck head coach's scheme.
Also, forgot about this during last year's Senior Bowl, but didn't a coach much better than Hue Jackson once say you play how you practice?
"I'm delighted to bring back a 1-31 head coach. He hasn't lost his magic. He'll be remembered by Cleveland as a hero." - Huckleberry Haslam
So Hue Jackson and his staff were so bad with their practices at last year's Senior Bowl, the NFL won't let them return??? OMG...I keep thinking that being a Browns fan can't get any more embarrassing, but every day something new comes to light that would indicate otherwise....And all the embarrassment stems from one common denominator; Hue Jackson... For the record, he has cruised past Pat Shurmur, and is now way out in front as the worst Browns coach ever IMO....I never thought I'd say that. Jimmy Haslam must be the dumbest billionaire that ever lived....
Get ready for "offensive coordinator" Ken Zampese. And there's a good chance he doesn't call the plays.
Wow. That's pretty f**ked up..... How in the world can anybody stand behind this guy? Hue Jackson and his staff of 56 other morons stunk it up so bad in Mobile, they had to shift from the normal policy just to keep the Cleveland Browns OUT. Are you kidding me??? This is just a slap in the face to Browns fans. Haven't we suffered enough? Why do we have to be married to this coach who obviously doesn't know what he's doing? Anyone on these message boards could do better... Now we have college stars coming out and begging the Browns not to select them. We have post season bowl games circumventing rules, with the sole reason being, to keep the Cleveland Browns shitty coaching personnel out of it. ..How bad does it have to get before Jimmy will admit that Hue Jackson sucks? If 1-31, along with this embarrassing news from Alabama, doesn't convince him that we need to move on from Hue, evidently nothing ever will or could... Louis Riddick is one of the few ESPN guys I have much respect for. He said on NFL live that he is in a "state of shock" that Hue wasn't fired....And if I had to guess, I'd say about 98% of the football world would concur, based on everything I'm seeing, hearing and reading... Everyone knows our roster isn't great, and nobody debates that....But it's not a 1-31 roster. That's inexcusable. All the other reports that are flying in about how terrible Hue Jackson is, are just further proof that he is a major reason for this epic fail...The Senior Bowl doesn't want us involved because there were SO MANY complaints from other NFL personnel last year about how Hue Jackson was handling practices. that's just amazing...
I think the Browns turned down the senior bowl. http://cleveland.cbslocal.com/2018/01/03/browns-coaching-staff-wont-coach-at-senior-bowl/
