I suppose the next thing will be that Hue Jackson was responsible for Hillary losing the election.

You can die on that hill, but Hue Jackson is indefensible as a head coach. Apparently only Jimmy Haslam, Hue Jackson, and @Lyman believe otherwise.

Yet somehow he gets the pat on the back from ownership, and we all get to suffer in the pit of misery....Only in Brownstown could this possibly happen.:wall:

Well, my opinion (like yours) doesn't mean jack shit. The only person in your list who's opinion does matter is Jimmy Haslam. And he decided that Hue Jackson will be the Head Coach of the Cleveland Browns in 2018.

  6. TopDawg Legend

and he needs to go undefeated next year to pull his record in Cleveland to the point where he has one win for every two losses...smh

^^^ This his Hue strongarming the boss. He's saying, "ok I know this sucks for ya, but if you don't want those highly incriminating photographs to end up in the wrong hands, yer gonna have to go out and tell the world what a great job I'm doing, and that I have your full support for as long as it takes. You tell em' none of this mess is the head coach's fault. And smile while you are saying it...or else"

Hue Jackson has the incriminating tapes from Pilot/Flying J.

    2018 Browns' Opponents:

Home: Baltimore, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Los Angeles (Chargers), New York (Jets), Atlanta, Carolina

Away: Baltimore, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Denver, Oakland, Houston, Tampa Bay, New Orleans

    Ouch.

Also, while we're killing narratives today, here's the one on drops:

Still not sure how this team went 0-16.

    @Lyman

Did the Browns set up a winless QB room to tank, or were they just stupid?

That's ESPN's dedicated Cleveland Browns writer.

Tony Grossi. The man with a bigger hard on towards the Browns that you have for Hue Jackson. Your next source will no doubt be Aaron Goldhammer.

    from the Bill Livingston article:

Now the owner, once dubbed Hotspur for his rashness, has been reduced to Hapless Haslam by extending Jackson's inadequacy and calling it stability.

Amen. Couldn't have said it better....

Jackson should be forevermore dubbed "One Will Do" Hue.

And the Browns, almost inconceivably, have become an even bigger national laughing stock after the 0-16 season because of Haslam's asinine decision to hang the albatross of this bungling coach and his ridiculous record around the neck of the new general manager, John Dorsey.

I should have just printed the entire article...Lots of good stuff. And by that, I mean really pathetic stuff...

    A Fitting Mock Draft

Chalk it up to my malaise over Hue Jackson coming back for 2018, but let's play this one out. A couple key assumptions:
    • Sam Darnold returns to school, Rosen declares
    • Kirk Cousins signs with Denver in free agency
    • Jacksonville and Buffalo keep their quarterbacks, despite the franchises not really liking them
    • A.J. McCarron loses his injunction against the Bengals, remains an RFA
Front Office Additions: Sean Ryan, QB coach with the Texans, joins the Browns as the play-caller for Hue Jackson's offense. There are a few similarities between O'Brien and Jackson and the most-likely outcome of a power-hungry, bus-tossing HC is that the system will remain his with the OC given some leeway to improvise or draw up a few plays per series.

    Free Agent Additions:
    • Terrelle Pryor, WR Washington: wants to be back in Cleveland. With the coaching staff saying in place (including his buddy Al Saunders) the sell here is that Sashi didn't want him back but Hue very much did

    • A.J. McCarron, QB Cincinnati: the Bengals should tag him with the second-round tender. Browns will be giving up #33 overall for the veteran, but this was Hue's guy during the regular season and Dorsey has no issues trading for veteran QBs. Assuming here that Alex Smith's price tag is too high.

    • Kyle Fuller, CB Chicago: no connection to either guy, just a very good, young player on the market. Fuller responded well from his injury and actually played his best game of the season against the Cleveland Browns. Boundary corners - and overall depth - could stand an improvement and Fuller brings that.

    • Ezekiel Ansah, DE Detroit: so he made himself some money since my last signing of him. He doubled his sack total in the final two games this year, bringing him to 12.0 overall on the season. Getting hot at the right time is going to put some dollars in his bank account.
    The Draft:

    1.1: Connor Williams, OT Texas

Call it immediate reaction to the bowl games (or lack thereof) by the QB prospects, coupled with completely wanting to avoid giving Hue another player to ruin and you get an offensive tackle. Hooray. Like getting socks for Christmas. Dorsey's first overall pick with Kansas City (2013) was Eric Fisher, so history repeats itself.

Cynicism aside, this is still a very solid pick. Williams is an elite pass blocker and gives the Browns a clear successor to Joe Thomas, who as of this posting has not determined if he's returning for his 12th NFL season. Williams is a leaner tackle, like Thomas was coming out, who's posted the #2 and #1 pass block grades over the past two seasons.

    Previously: Baker Mayfield, QB Oklahoma

1.2 (NYG): Josh Rosen, QB UCLA - New York finds a successor to Eli Manning in a guy who's said he'd prefer not to play for Cleveland.
1.3 (IND): Mike McGlinchey, OT Notre Dame - Running back would be nice to have, but protecting Andrew Luck has to be paramount.

1.4 (f/Houston): Saquon Barkley, RB Penn State

Ultimately, I think Indy will pass on Barkley for an offensive lineman. That gives the Browns a clear path to Barkley, who is one of the premier talents in this class. High character, high leadership, great athleticism, and complete back. He actually would be the third running back taken fourth overall in consecutive years, again #killingthenarrative that the RB position is devalued. Massive improvement over Crowell.

    2.33: TRADED

2.35 (f/Houston): Anthony Miller, WR Memphis

Browns need to add talent at the slot receiver position and Miller offers just thatHe's undersized for the boundary but right-sized for slot. I expect Coleman and Higgins both to be cut with Dorsey making a huge overall on the roster. Miller has top-end speed and can run the go-routes that Hue Jackson loves to a fault. He's also shifty with great acceleration - he should be an immediate starter inside.

2.61 (f/Philadelphia): Jerome Baker, LB Ohio State

Speed at the linebacker position is a must this offseason and Baker has just that. Baker has had two phenomenal games in the Big 10 Championship and Cotton Bowl, positioning him well to jump to the NFL. His range and athleticism is what will make him a Day 2 selection. He's a bit undersized for the position by traditional standards (6'1" 225 pounds) but definitely built more for the modern game.

3.65: Mason Rudolph, QB Oklahoma State

Browns can snag a developmental option behind McCarron and Kizer. Dorsey comes from the Packers front office where every year you look to add a QB to the team. Rudolph has an average arm, but excelled in Gundy's offense throwing deep outs - again, a staple of Hue Jackson's offense. He's got NFL size (6'5" 235 pounds) and very good college production. He could slip due to limited athleticism and arm strength but projects as an R2/R3 kind of guy.

    4.97: Jordan Whitehead, FS Pittsburgh

Kind of an under-the-radar guy, but Whitehead is definitely a true over-the-top safety who can fill the role they're currently trying to jam Jabrill Peppers into. Peppers can move down closer to the box where he played much better in relief of Derrick Kindred. Whitehead reads quarterbacks well and reacts in the passing game - although overall speed will be something to watch for at the Combine.

I nearly vomited blood when Jimmy Haslam said he was "delighted" to have Hue Jackson return after 0-16.

I was filled with white-hot rage when he said he'd be a "hero" for the people of Cleveland.
