    Huh?

No QB in this class throws a more catchable ball than BAEker. That’s one of his strengths.

Oklahoma for some reason went away from Baker Mayfield and got obsessed with trying to make their backs do things.
Baker Mayfield needs some coaching but he cemented himself as a top 2 pick in my eyes. Scheme and coach play calling isn't his fault.

Tim and I disagree. This game tonight had a few highlights of it. It's coachable so it isn't an issue but he tries to rifle it in when he shouldn't on many occasions.

    Disagree on which part?

This tweet agrees with my assessment.

    I said tweet. lol.

SAS and Irish disagree that Mayfield has problems throwing catchable balls.

Sorry, but I’ve got a hard time believing a guy who finished third all-time in completion percentage and has an adjusted completion percentage over 83% struggles with the catch-ability of the football.

His film is great in that area.

  9. Mayfield was exposed big time....when his 1st read was taken away and he didnt get outside the pocket it was a sack or throw away....he was a different player once the tempo slowed down and he had to play from the pocket....Rosen way better and also if Darnold had a good line he would look even better...his OL was awful and still had great ball placement

Oklahoma had a horrible OL tonight in the 2nd half. Sloppy missed assignments and couldn't hold an outside block. Baker tries to roll left once to make something happen and his LT couldn't hold the block and he got sacked. Next play he was in the pocket and his C let a guy through almost right away, he quickly tried to run right only for his RT to let his man through as well.

Mayfield looked great for the most part but he chose the wrong type of throws at times and his team did not favours. Outside their 2nd TD all of their cuccess on offense was when they played pass to set up the run. Instead they kept deciding to focus on the RBs on runs and short passes in the flat/screens. They almost all failed.

Mayfield greatly helped his stock tonight but he still have much to work on in terms of throwing decisions. Some are knocking his mechanics but I think they are pretty good for the most part. Most of the bad throws aren't going wrong because of mechanics but because of his decision on what type of throw to make.

  11. So he needs great pass blocking on every play? He looked lost in the 2nd half

He didn't have much of an opportunity. When they finally gave him one later he looked good. The team was playing not to lose in the 2nd half. Horrible coaching. That is all it was.

I disagree that Mayfield helped himself tonight...Once adjustments were made, Georgia pretty much contained him.

He's likely still my top QB, but I have concerns...

Did he really do the Johnny "$$$" hand gesture after that first play?

Touch is something that I think is an issue for Baker. His midfield accuracy through the intermediate level is sharp, but a great deal of those routes are run with breaks that have the receiver in prime positions to haul in hot passes. When you push that farther down the field or further to the outside it can cause issues.

Mayfield wouldn’t be the first quarterback with a high completion percentage that has this as a bit of an issue, but that is a solid argument on baker’s behalf.

Dang. He can't overcome horrible coaching? He'll be useless to us......

    LOL.

Honestly speaking though if the team is telling him to throw in the flat or to option to a RB then he has no real choice. Often times he was only allowed to throw a real pass on 3rd and long.

The only time Oklahoma played to win in the 2nd half was when they were down 7. They did great focusing on Mayfield to tie it and then after they got the lead on the defensive score they went back to playing not to lose.

  18. They scored one TD in the 2nd half and he could barely move the ball in OT at the 25 yd line....I just dont see a franchise QB..hes great in college w tempo and his WRs just being better

LOL one Browns fan is making him perfect, while the other is calling him a bum.

Go watch the game again and focus on Baker and the times he is allowed to do anything. OU coaches simply played not to lose. And OT? They once again focused on trying to be creative with the RBs and nada. If OU put the pedal to the metal they were winning easily. Instead they got cute with their RBs.

  20. That guy also loved Kessler...lol

He threw almost 40 passes...your not giving Georgia credit and letting Mayfield take some blame
