Where Do We Go From Here?

I’ve been one clamoring for consistency for... 20 years... now that we have it, it’s looking like we bought a house with a cracked foundation.

The ONLY argument for keeping him is for Haslam to demonstrate to the league that he’s capable of giving a coach a chance. That’s a flimsy argument at 1-31.

Let’s say we do can him. Who wants the job for the next 2 years?

As he should...That was just inexcusable. He didn't just drop it. The ball went right through his hands and hit him in the face. That's ridiculous.

It was a fitting end. A microcosm of the 2017 Cleveland Browns season....I don't think anyone could write a script like this and make it believable, but the Browns are just amazing.

As far as the "parade" or protest or whatever the hell it is goes; All I can say is, whatever embarrassment this fiasco brings the entire organization, it is most richly deserved...Deshone Kizer and Hue Jackson should get front row seats.

Some teams get post season glory....We get an 0-16 parade, and a coach that has to jump in the lake because he said there's no way we would go 0-16...smh.

    Ahhhh...Browns football....Come getcha some!

OK, not so much out with the old, let's talk about the in with the new...

Hue (the old) is not going anywhere, we might as well embrace this news and figure out what it will take putting together something around HIM to help this team win games in 2018.

We aren't discussing who will replace the HC. We need to figure out who to hire as an OC. Hue has his demons to dispose of and we can discuss that as well, right here, right now.

    Hue's demons:
    1) He needs to study long and hard...What do each of the coaches in the playoffs have in the form of staff, game planning, in game decisions, etc. He needs to make a lot of changes in how he does things.
    2) He needs to give up the notion he can effectively run the team, AND ATTEMPT to run the offense. It will not work for him.
    3) As far as staff, I believe it is finally time to move on from Chris Tabor, so he needs to begin searching for a new Special Teams Coordinator.
    4) The obvious, give up all say on the offense and FIND an OC as soon as is humanly possible (which means if he is on a playoff team, the day after they lose)

Watching LSU and WOW... Derrius Guice is earning himself a boost. Doesn’t seem to be Dorsey’s MO to use early picks on playmakers, but it’d be nice to sneak back up into the Top 20 picks and grab this guy.

Every coach that got fired in the last 24 hours would be an upgrade for Cleveland. Please let there be truth to the notion that the Bengals want Hue. Trade him to Cincinnati for a bowl of chili or whatever, and the let John Dorsey get his guy in here. These backwards ass structures Haslam keeps trying to build seem doomed from the start...When I watch the Browns play I see the most undisciplined team in the NFL. Talented roster or not, that's bad coaching. Week after week they make the silliest errors of any team I've ever seen. Tons of mental mistakes....I'm sorry, but Hue deserves to be fired and I just can't embrace to idea of trying to figure out a way to fix everything around him. Hue said himself, "everything has to be perfect" for him to have success....And we are supposed to sit here, light years away from mediocrity, and try to figure out a solution? One that involves Hue being our HC? lol! talk about mission impossible...

Well TD, you don't have to embrace it, but it is a reality we will all be living in...

    On to Offensive Coordinator...

With the Caldwell news coming today, is he or his OC Jim Bob Cooter a viable solution for the job in Cleveland? I would think either would be on a short list.

My thoughts exactly. JBC has been fantastic for Stafford. As bad as he’s been at identifying talent, O’Brien is a guy who had the ability to tailor an offense to talent and that’s what we truly need.

Someone who isn’t going to force Hue’s antiquated and complex offensive system.

There were many things that upset me about the Browns this year, and I've been outspoken about the majority of my concerns. One thing, that may seem small, but it really gets under my skin, is Deshone Kizer's choreographed TD celebrations. I just don't get it. Why is this man spending time collaborating these little productions??? I know it's rare when we score, but for god sakes, understand the situation. We are 1-31 over the last two seasons. We haven't won a game on a Sunday since 2014....

After watching Coleman Sunday, I felt the need to start looking at the WR"s in this year's draft. Here's my "way to early" top 5:

    1. Calvin Ridley, Bama.....Can't go wrong with a WR named Calvin.

    2. Courtland Sutton, SMU - Great size...looks like complete package

    3. Arden Tate, FSU - don't tell stopper....this dude really is a match-up problem for defenses,.

    4. Simmie Cobbs Jr, Indiana - It's possible I might be over-rating him based on his performance against OSU...but I don't think so

    5. E. St. Brown, Notre Dame - I like those big targets.

Giving up? Are you suggesting that the fan base could or even should make the decision on who is to be fired and when in a professional front office?

I'm sorry, but it is misused energy imho. They have publicly stated that Hue will be the coach in 2018...The Bengals seemed to be parting ways with Marvin and would like to replace him with Hue, then the news came out that Hue would NOT be leaving the Browns and all of a sudden it looks like Marvin will be back as the Bengals coach in 2018. Read between the lines...or directly IN CONTEXT...Hue is not leaving. The decision has been made and it is time for ME to move on and figure out what can be done. Again, for me, that means finding a competent OC that Hue can respect and leave alone to do his job. My hope is that he has implicit instructions to do just that or he will not be the HC in 2019. 1-31 record gives the new GM a lot of leeway in telling the returning coach what he believes needs to be done to right a ship. Haslem wants Hue to succeed and honestly, so do I. The players seem to like him, but the coordinators need to control each division they are in charge of, while Hue monitors and manages those factions. Something he isn't doing now...he was an OC with a HC title and didn't have time to do either job to the best of his ability.

I'm not giving up on something I have no control over, but I have opinions on moving forward and that is what I am concentrating on.

  14. Auden is a big body WR, but lacks speed...it will be interesting to see if he can get separation in the NFL....btw, he hasnt declared yet and how can Kirk not be on this list?

I agree with you 100-percent. I am much less upset about 0-16 as I am for Hue Jackson being allowed to return. It honestly eats at me so much it casts a pall across the prospect of 2018.

How many games does Hue get in 2018? Is he getting a full 16? Because it's completely unfair to put an interim coach into that position four or five games in.

Does he hire an OC who then gets to be the next person to meet Hue's Bus? With everyone looking for a pound of flesh, you toss the new OC to the wolves?

Are we going to draft a young, talented QB No. 1 overall for "Clueless" to destroy? He's got a 1.000 average at destroying rookies right now. My heart would break if we took Mayfield and then ruined him in a single season like he's done with Kessler and Kizer.

Are we going to land a stud like Saquon Barkley only to have him languish on a team who's coach personally and vehemently hates running the football? Barkley, possibly the No. 1 overall pick, would see more time as a kick returning with "Clueless" calling the shots.

Still really hoping against hope that this is just a pissing match between Haslam and Brown over who finally caves and either Jimmy fires Hue and he slinks back to Cincinnati, or Brown caves and trades a second or third rounder to Cleveland.

The idea that two NFL owners want a 1-31 football coach is equal parts disgusting and mind-boggling.

  18. They better take him #1 cause Indy may be all over him after this message...

Owner Jim Irsay indicated Monday he hopes the Colts will use a high draft pick on a running back.

It's also a strong indication the Colts will move on from free agent Frank Gore and target a feature back to pair with change-of-pace runner Marlon Mack. "You put (Andrew Luck) on that field, healed up, and you put an Edgerrin James -- maybe that's bigger, faster, stronger -- ... this is going to be a special place to be and a special place to play." James was the No. 4 overall pick in the 1999 draft. The Colts have the No. 3 overall pick this year.
