Pre-emptively starting this thread because it can't come soon enough. His legacy is and will always be the 3-15 record against the division (much like Shitwad's head to head record against GB). That's worse than Abe Gibron and Wanny. Fuck John Fox. I will relish in his unemployment next season. I will delight in it.

Happy New Year to all. Hopefully 2018 sees a return to the playoffs after 8 years.

John Fox refuses to take questions about his job status. He asked for questions about today’s game. Didn’t get any. Press conference over.

#Bears sent out press release announcing open locker room for players at approximately 10:30 am tomorrow. Release stated: "Note: The date and time for post-season media availability for GM Ryan Pace and Head Coach John Fox will be announced on Monday."

It's official Fox is gone. Would be a perfect black Monday if Pace was gone too.

    Mercifully, its over.

    Just a year too late.....

Anybody know when Pace is going to speak?

    Merry Christmas, everyone.

Apparently the Bears will be interviewing Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. He was formerly a defensive backs coach with the Bears from 2006-2008. Everyone knows that the Bears need an offensive minded head coach to develop Trubs. Hopefully the sole purpose of this interview is to fulfill the Rooney rule.

I want Josh McDaniels but I think he'll have more enticing opportunities with the Giants or Colts.

Patg, any sexy candidates from the college ranks?

Steve Wilks seems to be the popular Rooney rule filler with a bunch of teams reported to have requested permission to interview him.

I’m with Blang on McDaniels. But I don’t see either the Colts or Giants offering anything more enticing than the Bears. The QB situation is murky with both and IMO the Bears roster is more talented.

I still like David Shaw from Stanford to be the head coach.

Hire David Shaw. Promote and give a big raise to Fangio as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator. Let Shaw hire his own assistants. Gotta build the offensive line and give Trubisky some legit receivers. THe offense is pathetic and they absolutely need to get a coach in here that can utilize Cohen and Howard better.

Sorry but I disagree about this theory.

You’d be severely limiting your choices by telling candidates that they must retain certain staff.

A head coach needs to pick who HE wants. Not an inept management team. Any coach worth his salt will, and should, want to be able to do that.

This forced holdover crap hasn’t worked in the past and it won’t work now.

Presser is starting, why is Ted Phillips talking?

  12. patg006 M.V.P. Bears

Well, shit. That's why sweaty Teddy's talking.

    Pace extended through 2021.....

I didn't even want to bother logging in and commenting about this pathetic team this year. But the fact that they gave this meathead Pace a contract extension proves that the Bears are not a serious organization.

  14. dlinebass5 M.V.P. Bears

Pace hasn't improved this team from when Emery was here. I'm willing to give him a little more rope - specifically, another year. Any more than that is horseshit.

The only rationale I can see is trying to attract a head coach by ensuring that the GM is given time, as well. So, we better get the single best candidate in the game. Anything less, and this is a collosal overreach.

Ordinarily I would agree with you but Fangio and Shaw have coached together and have a good relationship. This and the fact that the defensive players really love to play for the guy is to me an ideal situation if they both can agree to it.

Are you telling me you’d want Shaw over McDaniels or DeFilippo?

Why would you limit yourself to just offensive minded coaches? That would be stupid. Plenty of QBs have done well with a defensive minded head coach. If you want the best man for the job you dont get hung up on we need an offensive coach to develop trubs.

  18. EvertonBears M.V.P. Bears

Exactly. You just summed it up in a nutshell.

The Bears are not a serious organization. Kills me to say it, but its the truth.

There's no way on God's green earth a GM should get a 2 year extension after putting together a 14-34 record. Just shouldn't be possible. There's no way Ted "fuckface" Phillips should be anywhere near anything football related, yet he continues to be after all these years.

The Bears are not a serious organization. They are a joke.

Let’s say the Bears go with a defensive minded head coach and he hires a great OC, the offense thrives, Mitch progresses and becomes a young star.

Then you know what happens to that OC? Gone. Hired elsewhere as a HC and now you’re back to square one offensively.

Hiring a head coach that essentially runs the offense brings stability there long-term. I think that’s why people are calling for an offensive minded head coach.

Yeah. That is my first coach and my second is Dave Toub. I've been following Shaw for awhile and think that he'd be perfect.
