I will LOL and emoji :FAP:

Carson may not have led a team to a Superbowl but has been a pretty consistent QB. Not that its saying much, but he would make the Browns at least a 6 win team this year.

Petition to rename this thread: 2018 NFL Draft | Baker Mayfield.

It's not even worth mentioning the other QBs. We either take Mayfield and get it right (finally) or take another guy and have to look for a new GM in 2020.

Nope didn't forget about the #4 QB of this draft class (If Darnold goes back to school, #5 if he doesn't)

Full disclosure, I'm messing with you stopper...I really haven't graded the other QBs out against one another yet, but I am in no uncertain terms convinced Mayfield is the best prospect of this class, and it really isn't close.

"Maybe you forgot about this guy" and literally the first Rosen highlight should have been a pick. He really torched A&M, Hawaii, Memphis, and Colorado. Oregon and Stafford are shades of what they once were. I would take Washington as suitable, but that was just one play. The nice catch at the 1 yard line midway through would be ruled incomplete in the NFL as he was diving/going to the ground and didn't complete the act of the catch.

Rosen put up gaudy numbers in his loss to USC, but his 2 turnovers seemed too much to overcome. The same came be said for Mayfield, but he only has one loss to speak of, and you cane hang that on him when he puts up 360+ of offense for 3 scores and 0 turnovers (unless you're Cowboys fan...they blamed Romo for not scoring enough when he almost hangs 50 but loses).

I'll admit that I haven't seen much more than this "highlight" film of Rosen, but even on here it is riddled with throws that just would not fly in the NFL. Ive watched a couple Mayfield complete games and haven't seen the same.

Full disclosure: I'm not messing with you stopper. Rosen is a distant second behind Mayfield. He's surely the second-best QB prospect in the class, but he is not anywhere close to Mayfield's level.

Height is the only knock on Baker and that's only an issue if you want it to be.

  10. Darnold made some great throws 2nite...hes not the #1 pick(Rosen) but hes definitely a future NFL starter

    "definitely a future NFL starter" That's a bold prediction {sarcasm font turned off after that}

It's pretty obvious from this class, Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson AND Mason Rudolph will be future starters...the question is for how long?

I don't think Rosen gets more than 4 years as a starter. He will never come close to Sam Bradford output, imho. Sam Darnold (IF he stays in school another year) may become a solid starter in this league, but he has a long way to go. Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson are the two that have the longest shot at acutally becoming starter, but their respective teams will draft them too high, not to give them a shot.

Honestly, behind Mayfield (who I think will be the best pro out of the group), I believe Mason Rudolph might be the second best to come out in 2017. I don't think he will have a HOF career or anything, but I could see him having a Joe Flacco type of career. Honestly, as bad as we have been, we could do a lot worse than a Joe Flacco career QB.

I'm regurgitating my views on Mayfield, sorry for that, it's just that I don't see it as a close race at all for who is the best QB in this class.

I repeat it every year before the draft and then again after but it's the one thing that too often gets overlooked in the conversations that we all have about prospects.

The single biggest factor on whether or not any of these kids will be successful in the NFL is what situation they are drafted into. It can be the difference between being a monster in their first season or watching as years go by before they get a chance to realize their full potential.

As an example - imagine how much different their career arcs would look if Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers had been drafted in each other's spots.

Doesn't matter...Did you read the post, I stated Jackson and Allen will have the longest shot...HOWEVER, there are so many QB positions needed in the NFL, a team will look at the skillset and feel they can get it out of him..he will go in the middle of the first round. Supply and Demand. I don't think much of Allen either, yet we have people calling for a top 5 pick for him. I just don't see it...Some GM will look at their QB room and see the "need" outweigh the obvious and draft them both in the first round. Neither will start a game in 2018 because neither are starter worthy imho..but sometime in 2019, either due to injury or their current starter ineptitude, they will get starts because they were first round picks and well, first round picks get starts. It will be short lived.

Sorry, Irish. No way in hell Lamar Jackson goes in the 1st round. (Unless he's drafted as a WR).

  16. SAS M.V.P. Rams Chargers

TBH, at this point, I have Jackson as my QB2. I just don't see how a guy with his arm talent and rare athleticism can be passed over for pocket guys in the modern NFL where coaches are running a historically-high number of RPO and mobile QB play is nearly a prerequisite for the job.

I didn't say anything about first round, I said they will be drafted too high not to get a chance to start... He WILL be a second round QB

I beg to differ. You DID say 1st round.

My bad, I did group Jackson and Allen together in that second post...
