I do not like the Sens. But, my reaction to this story is that it's sad. I hate when an owner makes every bad thing with his team all about anything other than himself. The arena sucks, the internal cap must be extremely frustrating for players and fans, yet this is all about ungrateful fans and due to callous players.

The sad part for sens fans is, it seems this is as good as it gets. Karlsson was a total fluke, it could've even be worse.

I'm not so sure quebec would welcome a move with eugene being the owner. I'm pretty sure they would rather buy the team off him and have the local french-canadian ownership.
Not sure he would want to move to texas either. The most sensible option would be a new arena in a downtown location. If this doesn't happen, then cash out and give the team to quebec (he might be too stubborn for this).

Too bad Melnyk doesn't get it, period. He ought to be kissing the fans asses because that's what lined his pockets in the first place. Melnyk is inept as a manager/owner and like Dan stated, blames everything and everybody but himself, so it seems. Todays NHL needs to be ran and tightly by good hockey minds, but some of the owners and GM's treat the players and fans like they were just pawns in a chess game and it will come back to bite them. Sad for Ottawa, the NHL and the fans who pay ridiculous prices to see a sub-par product run by an incompetent with a pointed finger and a big mouth.

There... I have spoken. May not have made much sense to the reader, but I thought it was brilliant! <---(love the Don Cherry thumbs up)

It took me a while to come around to corsi, not really fool proof. A sub-par d-man that's paired off with a #1 D, and also with the first line forwards, will result in a stronger corsi.

    A #3 d-man that's paired with a #6 D and also 3rd or 4th line forwards, will have a weaker corsi.

A forward on a checking line that has to go against an opposing teams top forwards will have a weak corsi.

Maple Leafs commemorating NHL's 100-year history in Toronto

Host Hurricanes on anniversary of first League game played Dec. 19, 1917

That's why we have a 2pm et game today...

On Tuesday, 1.3 miles from Arena Gardens park, the Toronto Maple Leafs will celebrate 100 years of NHL hockey in the city by wearing stylized Arenas uniforms in an afternoon game against the Carolina Hurricanes at Air Canada Centre (2 p.m. ET; SNO, FS-CR, NHL.TV).

On Dec. 19, 1917, the Arenas lost 10-9 to the Montreal Wanderers in the first game in NHL history (it started earlier than the Ottawa Senators-Montreal Canadiens game in Ottawa).

Exactly a century later, the Toronto franchise will open a new chapter in its illustrious history with a contest against the Carolina Hurricanes that is being billed as the Next Century Game. Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan said the wearing of the Arenas jersey will be a one-time occurrence in honor of the occasion.

The game is part of a celebration of NHL hockey in the city. To that end, Mayor John Tory has declared Tuesday to be Toronto Maple Leafs Day.

"The Maple Leafs are part of the heart and soul of our city, and this 100th birthday event is the perfect moment to come together to celebrate what they mean to us," Tory said. "Generations of fans, young and old, are all excited for what the future holds for our Leafs and Dec. 19 will be a moment that the team and fans alike are sure to remember for years to come."

three stars of the game were all Broonz rookies.
Danton Heinen is playing really well, as projected. McAvoy is a stud Gordie Howe hat trick for him last night.
once Krejci goes down it'll all turn to shit again. inevitable.

    Hockey is bigger than Soccer!

The development plan proposed by the Islanders includes an 18,000-seat arena that, in addition to housing the hockey team, will serve as "an entertainment hub, hotel and retail village." The Islanders' development plan beat out a proposal for a 26,000-seat venue from the New York City FC (MLS).
