Uhm the ground doesn't cause a fumble when going to ground when downed elsewhere because it is ruled incomplete instead, as it was here. And he didn't have enough control while breaking the plane because the catch wasn't official.
Joe is right, but why didn't the refs call PI on the INT play? The DB clearly interfered with the WR before he deflected the ball.
Do you think there was enough evidence to rule that "bobble" a bobble? It rolled up his arm but his wrist/hand seemed to always have it "secured". I don't see conclusive indisputable evidence that it ever came out.
As soon as I first saw it move I knew that they would bring it back. But they should have called interference on the INT.
I thought there was DPI for sure but I knew it wouldn't be called since the receiver looked to be "leaning".
I think the NFL should just say we were the winners tomorrow and award us the game. Why did James have to stretch the ball? Man the Patriots are a charmed team.....good and lucky.....do you think they eat Lucky Charms?
Same reason they didn’t throw a flag on M Bryant’s TD with the DB clearly holding down his left arm. Steelers get hidden ticky tack holds and PIs against their DBs but can’t seem to get easy obvious calls. It’s ridiculous. All I want is consistency, call the game the same way for both teams. I haven’t complained about the officiating and want to avoid it but this was the 4th game in a row they battling inconsistent one-sided officiating.
Beloved AJM, I didn’t think this game was officiated all that poorly. We just crapped the bed at crunch time. I’m disgusted. Why can’t we ever beat the Patriots? It is truly aggravating.
I will say this...if they meet again they have to find another guy to cover Gronk other than Davis....he didnt have a chance all game...why not try someone else during the game
We should have done something bold like had big Brian Allen on him some like Steelerking suggested earlier in week.
I can't believe Ben blamed the coach. Okay you were told to go for it. That is okay. But you are down by 3. Throw that ball away. You were clearly flustered once nothing was initially there. Live for OT.
Look at NE’s 1st TD, on the outside u will see their FB or TE hook his arm around a defender and hold it there, no call, Villanueva did the same exact thing but only for a second and let go on one of their critical drives with less than 8 min left and got a penalty. They went from a 2nd and 2 from around the 38 to a 1st and 20 from their 20 and eventually punted.
Item 4. Ball Touches Ground. If the ball touches the ground after the player secures control of it, it is a catch, provided that the player continues to maintain control.
I'm pretty sure they ruled it wouldn't be a catch. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...rule-and-it-might-actually-be-more-confusing/
I agree with all of this: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...lers-apparent-game-winning-td-was-overturned/
