Ya and Williams stacks the box so teams throw all over them and scrap QBs look great...you can usually dictate what u want to take away...I culd be #1 in pass defense if I have a 2 safety look or play a prevent style so teams run on me....let me guess the Browns pass def was good cause teams ran on them?
Who cares about Hoyer? lol! So tomorrow will mark the 2nd Browns game that I wasn't able to watch either live or on TV since 1979.....The first one was last Sunday. No joke. Sure I could go to a bar where they have Sunday Ticket and watch, but is this team worth it? I think not...And I thought not last week.....I will once again be reduced to the radio broadcast, but honestly, I'm not even sure this shit team is worth that....All my life I've made the Browns a major priority, but now I just don't care. That's how fuckin bad this team has been....I have bled the Browns colors since the days when Brian Sipe was handing the ball to Greg Pruitt, and throwing passes to Dave logan and Ozzie Newsome....But now it seems the only fucking thing my team cares about is making sure they get the #1 pick in the draft. smh...I'm sick of it. It makes me kind of sad that I missed last week's game because I had that amazing streak going, but I'm just not going to spend any more money on this....I hope somehow Jimmy and Dee read this post. I would have thought it impossible to drive a rabid fan like me away....
Bring on Matt Nagy! In the Chiefs' six games before Nagy took over as play-caller, they averaged 312 total yards of offense a game (236 passing, 76 rushing) and averaged 18.0 points per game. They went 1-5 over that stretch. In the Chiefs' three games since Nagy took over as play-caller, they've averaged 426 total yards of offense a game (276 passing, 150 rushing) and averaged 29.0 points per game. 2-1 over the stretch.
So you are going to replace Hue with another OC that thinks he can be an OC AND HC at the same time? No thanks..I want a traditional HC and hopefully he will bring in a capable OC and DC (If he doesn't retain Gregg Williams). Any chance the Bengals would trade AJ Green for Hue? Then draft someone like Equanimeous St. Brown in the 2nd round to learn from Green and Gordon for the future...wouldn't have to play sans injury. This complete turn around IS possible because of everything left behind by Sashi. Say what you will about the roster (and I have, it is atrocious) but the way he left the team sets up a GM to get players, and it is actually a nice spot for a coaching staff to fall into also...They have very little pressure following a (best case scenario 3-29) coaching staff, on a team that has a base of players the the capital and backing of ownership to use that capital. They could be "the staff that had the biggest turn around in NFL history" and really have very little to do with the "why" it turned around so "quickly" after they were hired. When you look at the history of the team, it is daunting. But, when you look at the core of the roster, the owners wanting to get it right at all costs (allowing to trade $16M for a 2nd round draft pick) and a football guy coming in to set the roster for you...this really is an IDEAL situation for a new staff to walk into. This team is about 5 players away from being a playoff contender, with upgrades to backup positions throughout... QB - essential (Free Agency AND draft pick, x2) #1 overall used here WR - essential (Free Agency AND draft pick) second round pick should be used, focus on bringing in FS - essential (use the Texans pick on either Minkah Fitzpatrick or Derwin James #4-5 overall used here RB - draft pick and make Duke the main RB to open the season, 2nd round draft pick used here, or #5-6 if for some obscene reason both Fitzpatrick and James are gone with Texans (meaning Barkley is available) LB - upgrades, especially depth is essential here, free agency and draft should be used. If one of the expected first rounders drop to #33 pick up an upgrade One last free agency want, more than need, Trumaine Johnson. He would help develop the DBs, which would ease the new FS coming in from the draft. Then use remaining draft picks and cap space to put backups in place that can sub in and replace injuries without taking a catastrophic hit.
Honestly, I think Nagy sees what's required - and if a legendary coach like Andy Reid can surrender play-calling duties to a coordinator, he could and would do the same. A head coach can override a play-call (offensive or defensive) at any time and Nagy certainly could still do that - much like McVay does in Los Angeles. Back to my trade offer for Green, I'd bundle picks and Hue Jackson to get him away from Cincinnati. The trick is, Jackson is probably not going down there to blow everything up. He seems to like Andy Dalton and loves A.J. McCarron. In either event, the previously-proposed trade was giving the Bengals a top pick to select a new QB.
I could get behind this. Delivering Hue to a division rival and stealing their top receiving weapon in the process seems like the very definition of a 'win-win'. Of course, if I'm running the operation in Cincinnati I'm laughing the whole time I'm calling for security to escort you out of the building the moment you make that offer.
You guys know what my thoughts on Hue Jackson are. He absolutely should be gone IMO. Beyond that, I hate the thought of the total coaching reboot, but what choice is there? Gregg Williams' defense has been very disappointing IMO. Though admitedly, I'm uncertain if it's a scheme issue or a talent issue. I've never seen a team play a Safety that deep that consistently. Doesn't seem to me that he's done anything here to warrant being kept on the coaching staff. My son is 13. He was QB of his flag football team for two years, and I have no doubt, he could give a hard cadence that would get the Browns to jump offsides. Smh. Any QB can get 5 yards against us, anytime he wants, and they never even have to snap it. It's been an issue all year. There's just no excuse for that. It makes me want to pull my hair out every Sunday.... I just don't see GW staying when Hue gets the axe. Like Hue, the best thing you can say about Gregg Williams is that he has lots of enthusiasm. That's not enough. His defense is undisciplined, and the scheme itself is in question. It really does seem like we are playing at a man disadvantage 90% of the time. Teams have torched our defense all year on the intermediate routes, but we don't adjust...
I'm with you TD. I've missed a few due to kids' soccer games here and there but always had them at least DVR'ed. This year, I've watched their first game and have walked away. I look at the score on-line and shake my head and delete the game off the DVR. Haven't even bothered taping the games the 2nd half of this season. I've been a lot less angry and have got a lot more done around the house on weekends lately. But I'm kinda disappointed in my apathy towards the team and the NFL in general. I used to love this team and could watch any game, but now I don't really give a rat's azz. I'm sure next year will bring new hope and renewed interest at the beginning of the season but continued losing will just keep pushing my interest further away............... #BandwagonDetroitLionsFan
The irony is truly that he's still the number one candidate for the Bengals, despite a 1-29 record as coach of the Cleveland Browns.
Jabrill Peppers has played within eight yards of the LOS on only 3.7 percent of his total snaps. He was an in-the-box safety at the University of Michigan who was used primarily as the run-stopper or QB-spy by the Wolverine's coaching staff. He was asked to transition to outside linebacker due to weakness at the position and did quite well in that role. The Browns drafted him and the coaches were so excited they needed to change their briefs. Since that time, he's been played exclusively in a punt returner role, regardless of whether defense or special teams was on the field.
A Browns tradition unlike any other... leaving the middle of the field hauntingly open for opposing receivers - specifically tight ends. I've been a fan of Joe Schobert's development, but he's woefully lacking in play recognition. Maybe it's instincts, maybe it's the way he's being coached - we won't really know 100% but if there's a chance to upgrade middle linebacker in the 2018 Draft (looking your way, Roquan Smith) I'm all for it.
Duff same here .i did yell at the TV like a lunatic during the Packers game which wasn't shown here until OT . My old lady looking at me with narrow eyes hollering at me ..YOUR GONNA HAVE A STROKE ! My old man sold Fords and he used to go up to Detroit for sales meetings .i have quite a few Lions players autographs from the sixties , seventies . some are on Autograph cards and most are on bar napkins ..go figure my old man liked to have a good time whenever he could . we came back in 99 to a different game . between the Browns total sucking and all the rule changes .You cant hit anybody without a flag being thrown for roughing or whatever . put skirts on them and play flag football then . this Anthem BS which burns this proud US Army vets ass my passion for the game & the Browns has taken a major hit . it all started for me when the RAT BASTARD Moved us .even if we start winning it wont be the same . This is not what we marched in the streets for in 95 .
Oh, and get this: Browns were up 7-3 in the second quarter. Isaiah Crowell’s stats at the time: 5 carries for 79 yards. Crow’s final statline? 5 for 79. No carries after the Ravens went up 10-7. Hue, you are a panicky disaster. Clueless Hue is a egotistical MORON . he cant help himself . trying to throw the ball all over the place with a shit WR corps & a rookie QB . the next challenge he wins will be his first . just hide the flag from him the last two games . He said he would jump in Lake Erie if we didn't win a game . i will help him with that . toss his sorry ass in there with cement blocks tied to him . Please Cinncitucky take him back . that would be a Christmas present !
Sadly, when I think of the 2017 Browns, ^^^^^this is the image that comes to mind. Hue Jackson sprinting across the field in Cincinnati during pregame warm ups, to warmly embrace his favorite Bengal...smh. Bill Belichick never showed Brady that much love.....lol!
