Where Do We Go From Here?

All the players he mentioned (Johnson, Kirksey, Shelton, and Bitonio) were drafted by Ray Farmer.

Makes you wonder what kind of blackmail Hue Jackson has on 90% of the league.

David Njoku set the record (with three games remaining) for touchdowns by a Browns rookie TE - which includes Hall of Famer, Ozzie Newsome. He did that playing only 47.1% of the offensive snaps.

    Good point...

Wow. That was a direct shot at Sashi and all the Harvard boys...

Actually I think he's talking mismanagement, like cutting veterans and leaving tens of millions of salary cap space unused, while back filling the roster with practice squad guys. Then when a player is hurt, the replacement is not even close to the same level.

I don't think he is attacking every player on this roster...just the OVERALL lack of concern for producing an adept roster from top to bottom, and the assets available to do so.

At the end of the day, I don't care what media excerpts he provides, as long as he builds a championship roster. The players don't have to like the GM, they have to like the coach. The GM is ALWAYS going to be the guy looking to replace you, upgrade you, jettison you if you don't produce. There isn't a love relationship involved between GM and player...if there is, then guys will hang on longer than they should.

Then that's a direct indictment of The Plan. Shedding non-producing veterans, building draft capital and cap space, drafting young players, and developing young talent was at the core of the "Moneyball" approach. You can kill the approach they took without killing those executing it and the players they drafted.

So here we are, hitting the reset again and potentially damaging the relationship of the players.

Then say they didn't draft enough real players. They missed on QB and WR big-time and admittedly. That's why they're not here. Trying to protect a guy (Kizer) who's at best third string and more likely than not no longer on the team in 2018 by painting everyone with the same brush is foolish.

Harsh words not doubt, but maybe he's playing the "bad cop" and letting Hue be the "good cop". That may be setting up for Hue to be painted as too player friendly, and not capable of or willing to "put a foot up some ass", or maybe he just thinks pro players have to be "men" and take a dose of reality.

Has anyone stuck a foot in any player's butt this year. I realize there's a line to be walked in beating and uplifting a team, but, so far, the carrot hasn't worked, so maybe, he's decided the stick has to be used too.

I don't really like that he made those staements, but I also can't disagree with him, depending on which players he's referring to. That's the beauty of it, and the hell of it. If you're a players, you don't know which side you are on, so how are you going to respond? He's forcing them to choose. Do they strap it on and go out to prove their worth, or pull back and play to survive the year, with the hope of finding a future next year wether with Cleveland or elsewhere.

It's a tough business, and how you take those comments says a lot about who you are as a player and a man. Choose.

John Dorsey quotes I do agree with wholeheartedly:

    Discussing Kenny Britt...

And this could really be the end game..How do you prove to me you should be on this roster in 2018? Do you get mad at the new guy and sulk, or go out over 3 games and show your professionalism?

Can't blame the players for executing a garbage game plan (and recently, that's been the case on defense, too).

You can if they are garbage players...IE, they looked a lot better with Gordon and Coleman as the featured WRs. We need a lot more of that caliber of player across the board. When we have injuries the entire offense/defense shouldn't fall apart.

As I said, a direct shot at the former front office...Obviously he's not talking EVERY player, he mentioned all the Ray Farmer picks he likes....

I agree with this 100%...But it still seems counterproductive to me, for Dorsey to slam the players that the previous regime brought in....Not sure what good can come of that at this point.

I'm not sure what to expect on Sunday. But if we start to see some effort issues on the field, I won't be surprised...Of course, that could spell the end of Hue, which might be a silver lining...

    2017: Hunt
    2016: Jones, Hill
    2015: Peters
    2014: none
    2013: Kelce

    Meanwhile, Sashi Brown gave us...

2017: Garrett, Peppers, Njoku, Ogunjobi, Brantley
    2016: Coleman, Ogbah, Schobert, Kindred

    At a minimum.

Well, the agents of the players didn't like Sashi, not one bit..the word is, they like and respect Dorsey, so I'm sure his agent buddies were laughing their asses off at his comments. Happy agent, happy player..

    No love for:
2013 Eric Fisher, Just signed a 4 year $12M/per extension
2014 Zach Fulton, he's played in every game since he was drafted, starting a majority of them.
2015 Mitch Morse, another player that has seen most of his games since being drafted as a starter
2016 and 2017, too early to call any of these players what they will be

Regardless, 8 players in 5 drafts, one of which they didn't have a first round pick, honestly, it isn't too shabby..

As for Sashi, I think he got the raw end of the deal, but it wasn't a secret that he was shunned in the player/agent world...that's not the stigma you want on your highest player personnel guy. I liked the way he did business personally. If you get an honest offer, you should take it, not walk away from the table. BUT, he let a lot of players get away/cut in the end that could have helped this team not be 1-28 over the past two seasons.

For that, I can't cry in his honor...

There was no reason to let Shwartz and Gipson out the door. Nor Taylor Gabriel! ...No reason to let Pryor out the door, or Josh McCown. These players alone could have made a huge difference for us...I hated the way Sashi did business. We kept hearing about all the money we had, yet here we are. I believe we still have more cap space than any other team...Why let Alex Mack out the door, then go all in on a Guard from the Bengals?

He was the master of the early trade down that accumulates draft picks.....That's about all I can say for Sashi.
