i got nothing for the impersonations from that movie. saw it once when it came out. I don't remember it.
It had to be a "classic" actor (he only watched and knew old movies) and I remember thinking about A Clockwork Orange when she did the song for Leon.
Staying with A Clockwork Orange, which actor in that film later played the "physical role" of Darth Vader (not James Earl Jones ~ he was DV's voice only) in the early Star Wars movies, and what was his role in A Clockwork Orange?
Good call...Paul Newman always claimed he had more fun, and enjoyed filming SLAP SHOT more than any movie of his career. A couple interesting side notes to that movie...Al Pacino turned down the lead role (and always regretted it),...Nick Nolte was another famous actor they wanted to cast in the movie, but they didn't have time to teach him how to ice skate...
david prowse. I'm a big SW fan and I have tix for movie 8 tonight. no idea what role he played in CO. sorry.
I know. I don't see the fit either with Pacino in that role. But they can do wonders with cinematography. Look what they've done for Tom Cruise...
They can - but I'm with Cat. Love Al, but too small. And I don't think Nick Nolte was old enough looking. Yeah, he was mid-30's...but he had just played in Rich Man, Poor Man where he was a boxer. Doesn't really strike me as a "diminishing skills/aging player" type.
tom cruise isn't a bad actor. he's done great when he was younger and he co-starred in movies giving 3 people a Oscar and another their first Oscar Nomination. Al Pacino couldn't be Reggie Dunlop. What's he going to do during the intermission vs the Syracuse team - "I'm dying over here guys," or "Attica, Attica!" or "oh ah" we need to win! Some people just can't be replaced in a movie role and certainly not for a little Italian guy. Hell the studio wanted Robert Redford as Michael Corleaone or Sonny Corleaone. Come on he has blonde hair and doesn't look Italian! Redford as Michael? Not a chance. Pacino as Michael - Yes!
and cinematography is more aligned with Kevin Costner and Dances with Wolves than a Tom Cruise movie besides Far and Away. haha
Nolte was in THE DEEP around the same time and his mustache and bright blonde hair doesn't look like an aging old vet to me. more like a Californian surfer beach bum dude.
