I wasn't that limber as a youth...so you think I am now? I'm a boulder.

 

Had a girl friend when I was 16-17. She dabbled in that tai chi stuff. I'd laugh at her and say, "big deal". I'm a tough guy. She got me to try it once. I lasted 4 or 5 minutes. Every muscle in my legs and shoulders were screaming in agony !!!!! It's harder than it looks !! And Baby does this all day ????? Damn !!!!!!

When you watch people practicing tai chi in the park it looks easy and flowing. The minute you actually start doing it you realize that there is so much going on in your body it's exhausting. When I finish teaching tai chi class I feel like I've just finished running an ultra race and I'm shaking and so tired. It also taught me a lot about self defence and I react instantly to threats because of my tai chi.

This is Master Moy who brought Tai Chi to the Americas in the 60's. He was instrumental in bringing awareness about this discipline, which can either be taught as a brutal martial art or as a means to becoming healthier and stronger.
