2017 Season The Good, Bad and Ugly

    Ugly

    Worst. Field. Awareness. Ever.

Yes, that's Seth DeValve wide open in the middle of the field without a defender around him for 10 yards. DeShone "One Look" Kizer has already locked into his first read (Njoku) in this case and forces a bad pass. Browns punt. Packers get the chance to tie.

  2. SAS M.V.P. Rams Chargers

    Good

This can be the only explanation for why Jimmy Haslam has said "Hue Jackson is our coach for 2018". He can't imply or hint he'll be fired because once Marvin Lewis is the Browns can gleefully trade Jackson back to Cincinnati for a second/third round pick.

  3. Yes your correct bout DeValve being open but lets not forget Njoku dropped the ball

  4. Nobody is trading that high of a pick for a guy that is 1-28

Bengals owner Mike Brown is smitten with Hue Jackson. He just might.

You still hear it constantly around the NFL - Hue Jackson is a "respected coach". He survived (for now) and Sashi didn't. Somehow, his 1-28 stink has stuck to everyone else but him.

Week 13 | Green Bay Packers

    Good

    Larry Ogunjobi
. Had himself a game. He's so strong and so quick at the point of attack. He's still also so raw that he's really just over-powering his opponents with physical attributes only. It's crazy to think how good he can be with some more development. He's not showing up on stat sheets but he's making his presence known. Not bad for being "just a guy".

Josh Gordon. Easily the most talented player on the roster and it's not close. The team needs to commit to this guy and surround him with support and help to keep him on the straight-and-narrow. Not only does it fill a massive need if he's playing and productive, but it's a great story of retribution.

    Bad

    DeShone Kizer
. After playing his best half of football, he played arguably his worst. This is fine for a rookie QB in Week 2 or 3. Not Week 13. Not when it's the exact. same. thing. over and over and over. Kizer cannot read a defense, cannot survey a field, does not elevate the play of those around him (not surprising his best six quarters came with Josh Gordon back). Time to move on.

Fake Punt. So special teams was bad all around, but Green Bay came out and went fake punt early on the Browns. That's a lack of respect from another NFL football team. Who can blame them? Browns are 1-28 under Jackson and find new and interesting ways to lose games.

    Ugly

    Hue Jackson
. Continues to be a horrific head coach. Really, there's no excuse any more. Of the 28 losses under Hue, this was without a doubt the worst (more on that later). He should be fired - I'm holding out hope we end up trading him back to Cincinnati - and as Mike Florio (PFT.com) reported last night, there is a thought that Dorsey is trying to convince the owner to make a change. It will be interesting to see what Jackson's media mouthpieces (Silver, Cabot) go with this week.

Gregg Williams. This "angel defender" nonsense has to go. Not only does the glorified punt formation take one defender completely out of the equation, he had his cornerbacks playing with huge cushions - after the Browns said they wanted to take away the run. Pressure has to be on - especially if Dorsey has the sway to can Jackson.

    Shizer

    14 Points
. Browns blew a 14 point lead going into the fourth quarter of this game. I allowed myself to get sucked in and thought for a moment, "hey... we might actually win this one". But I still had a creeping doubt in the back of my mind. An ultimate gut-punch to Browns' fans.

Carson Wentz. Not a Browns 'Shizer', per se, but sucks to see one of the three MVP candidates go down with an injury like an ACL tear this late into the season. I didn't think they'd go deep into the playoffs due to age but now he won't even get the chance to learn on the job there. Imagine being the Browns, finding your QB, heading to the post season, and then losing him on the doorstep.

  7. You did fail to mention that Kizer threw a ball that hit Njoku in the hands on 3rd down which would have sealed the game and then on the Int...supposedly the most talented player on the team and its not even close was locked up in a 1 on 1 situation which forced Kizer to scramble and make a horrible decision but I guess that gets a pass cause you like Njoku and are in love w Gordon

The knock on Njoku in his scouting report was he will drop passes and his blocking is non existent . A project with speed and size .

I got sucked in yesterday as well . it was also the last time I will yell at the TV like a lunatic this season anyway .

0-16 here we come ..UGLY !

  9. Any of these last 3 games can be won....Balt coming off a horrible loss and have injuries all over the place, Chicago is not a very good football team but getting better and Pitt mat have nothing to play for so the starters may sit

LMAO .. Thanks but I'm not to far down here . there are pieces to work with . They need a veteran QB next season .I'm tired of seeing rookies and there growing pains . hell I'm just tired of growing pains .I'm tired of a idiot HC / OC who mismanages games and his team is undisciplined and still making bone head plays . that's on Hue . he may be a very good OC but as a HC HE SUCKS Canal water and that's the nicest thing I can say .I don't give a shit if the players like him or not . the HC isn't a popularity contest . Do they respect him ? does he put a foot in anyone's ass ? I bet Dorsey makes a push to can his ass after the season . even Chris Palmer won 5 games in two years with a expansion roster . They need a HC that will toughen these guys up mentally and physically . Did Garret play yesterday ? I didn't watch the game it wasn't televised here . all I caught was redzone channel highlights & the radio . they did show OT which I wish I hadn't saw .they find new ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory .

Maybe they get DA Bears . they played pretty good yesterday in Cinncitucky . Crackmore & the Steelers that's pushing it .

    Screw it !

  13. Yes Garrett played but didnt do much...I hear ya...not a fan of Hue and cant believe he is still the HC

If you missed the Twitter war between Randall and Gordon, bummer. But this is a great one:

Read: "DeShone Kizer is a bum." - Josh Gordon

  15. Well on the last offensive play for the Browns he sure did

    Outside the pocket... updated.

    Went from 6.3 to 0.0.

Browns drafting a QB at No. 1 overall and may take another at No. 6 overall just in case.

More great breakdown on Gordon/Green Bay. For anyone with a modicum of football intelligence, this shouldn't be new material. For @showstopper, this is probably going to be very difficult to accept.

Most disappointing - regardless of who's watching it - is that when Josh Gordon says "despite our limitations" as a team, he's not just talking about Kizer, but also Hue Jackson. Hue's play-calling, scheme, and tendencies haven't changed since 2011 during his time with Oakland.

He's a Bottom 5 play-caller in the NFL as well as a Bottom 2 head coach. For anyone who continues to insist that he's a "football guy" or "knows what he's doing", it really makes one stop and question if that person defending Hue really comprehends the sport.

I truly hope Dorsey sees through all this crap and wins the struggle with Jimmy to get him canned at the end of the season. We fired Mike Pettine for going 10-22 in two seasons. Hue Jackson is 1-28 staring down the barrel of a 1-31 gun... and he's got the owner's vote of confidence?

  18. Does that article even make sense...on his TD being in cover 2 should of had the safety Int that ball easily since he wasntpressured at all in his deep 1/2...once the outside WR runs a smoke or quick screen route eyes immediately go to #2(Gordon)...he was lucky to score

I am ashamed to admit I am thinking along the lines of Showstopper, and see oppty in the final 3 games. Don't ask me for rationale. I'm a beaten down Browns fan and rationality has nothing to do with it.

I just keep hoping that things like: it's the last home game, and our opponent is badly nicked up, and frankly not that great a team either, so might we expect our boys show up, like they did in the first half of last week, and actually give us 60 minutes of good football? Expect it? No. Hope for it? Well that's me. I do admit I hope for it. I do believe Kizer has grown, not that he's good, just that he's nibbled away at his level of horrific, and may have a full game in him.

I loved that the run game showed up again. I also loved that both Gordon and Coleman were involved in the game. I hope to see more of that this week, and with a turnover or two (not committed by us) we can beat the hated Ravens.

I imagine the incredible euphoria a win against the Ravens at home would have on this team, and the possibility of then carrying that forward. What would 2 wins of 3 be like for a team that has never tasted the nectar of victory? I don't know, but I hope to find out.

    Go Browns!

Gordon's return hasn't been transformational, but doesn't the offense look better? Hasn't the run game suddenly found room? Hasn't our QB such as he is, had two of his better games?

I believe a lot of those positives stem from Gordon being on the field. I don't trust him, but I won't deny his impact either. I am less than 50/50 on him getting through an entire off season without relapsing, so it's all about these next three games, and capitalizing on what he brings us IMO.

He's here now, and he oppty to use him to carve out a win or two is also now. Use as a decoy, use him to hit big plays, use him to loosen up run defense, just take advantage of the weapon he is now.

Gordon and Coleman in the line up together has made the offense better and our QB mediocre (a step up). Our D is up to the task IMO, and that may be all that's needed to chalk up a W. Let the football Gods smile on us for one Sunday.
