I'm obviously not Beach but I'll answer the question you posed here. It depends on which QB. I really don't want a QB at all if he doesn't come with expectations of being the next face of the franchise. There are some Steelers fans circling the board who are high on Josh Dobbs and who think he can be something. I think it's possible, but his presence on the roster wouldn't deter me from taking the best QB in the draft if that's a possibility. I love Baker Mayfield and I never needed anyone else to show me his merit. To me, his antics at Kansas were a gift from God. Hopefully the media latches onto some bum, causing Mayfield's rise to be stunted, and Kevin Colbert can see what he has near the end of the first. That'd be the best first round for me since 2012 when we caught a falling David DeCastro. Kirk Cousins is terribly overrated. I watched him have a dud of a game versus the Cowboys this season in which he lofted a ton of ugly passes. This was in the rain, but a better QB would look like he's gripped a wet football before. I don't think it should be overlooked either how he doesn't seem to have much chemistry with any of the Redskins receivers. This could be due to the fact that he knows he's on his way out, but you could also argue that he should at least be pulling out all the stops to earn his big payday.
I do every yr....last yr it was Trubisky and this yr its Rosen.....I dont deny they need a QB and try and wait like you want to do....you keep thinking its a waste to draft a QB that high...its a waste to draft a DE who makes no impact plays as well

As do I...You just pay attention to small excerpts and then hang on to it like it's all I talk about... 2014, I was all about Teddy Bridgewater until late in the game when I switched to Manziel, in fact calling for Manziel to be drafted at #4, upset when they traded out of the pick, then upset AGAIN when they drafted a CB instead of Manziel. 2015, I was also very high on Marcus Mariota. I also liked Winston's skill set, but was very leery of his off field issues..however, I thought our problems were solved with Manziel being drafted 2016, I quite distinctly declared Wentz the best QB in the draft, but I do admit I didn't think he was better than a borderline late 1st/early 2nd rounder, with no others better than a 2nd rounder 2017, I quite distinctly declared Deshaun Watson the best QB in the draft, even going as far as stating if they took a QB #1 overall it better be Watson, then later during the draft stating Watson would be the pick at #12 when they went on the clock...only to see them trade it away to Houston...I also admit that I had DeShone Kizer as my #2 rated QB, but as a second round prospect...I still stick by that despite his rookie travesties. At 21, there is plenty of time and room to grow...with a veteran on the roster in 2018. 2018, I have already gone on record stating I would be fine with them drafting Baker Mayfield either with the Texans pick or #1 overall and trade back up to get Barkley...EVEN IF they sign free agent Kirk Cousins... Just because I don't like YOUR pick of QBs doesn't mean I am 100% against drafting QBs...you have tunnel vision when you read these boards.
You always want to wait on the guy is some of our points....why do you like Watson at #12 but not top 5? Wentz and Goff both playing at a high level...they werent worthy of going 1 n 2? How bout this question...right now would you rather have Watson or Garrett? Also, Im not saying you have to like my QBs, but you also try and get a steal by waiting on a guy when there are 32 teams in this league and it only takes 1 team....a pefect example is Wentz who you wanted late 1st early 2nd and he goes #2 overall
You are the ultimate revisionist. Most folks - even if they liked Wentz - thought late first. I said no higher than 20. @IrishDawg42 had him higher than most folks here. Very few arm chair GMs were all-in on Wentz. Fewer GMs were about to blow a Top 2 on a Divison II dude with a handful of throws, injuries throughout his career, out-played by his backup, and with a long hitch in his throwing motion? Eagles were *desperate* when they traded, knowing they missed on Goff. And now they’re laughing at everyone else.
Why do you just pick part of my post to try and make your point....didnt I just say above there are 32 teams and it only takes 1 team to like him....your worried bout very few GMs but it only took the GM from Philly to make the move....you can call it desperate or whatever word you want to use but they did it and now their SB contenders this yr
Watson AND Garrett, of course silly! And I JUST stated, I was fine if they decided to take a QB at #1, as long as it was Watson. Sorry, I just didn't see it in Goff especially...I liked Wentz, but didn't love him. I'm not also not talking about getting a steal, I am talking about not passing on players I have ranked higher just because we need a QB. I think if you pass on the players you have ranked the highest, due to position need, you set the franchise back. I didn't say I wanted to wait until late first/early second, I knew for a fact he wasn't going to be available there...I said that is where I had him rated at the time. I had other players that I felt had a higher upside. No one could predict he would explode like he has this season. If there was a guy EVERY year that explodes onto the scene then it would be different, but it is a crap shoot at best that a QB will fulfill even a small percentage of his potential. That is what has me screaming at the top of my lungs, do what is necessary to sign the veteran that has already proven in 3 years of starting that he IS a high caliber professional QB. Regardless of whether you want to draft one as well.
My apologies, I forgot about all of your posts declaring the need to draft Wentz at #2 overall..I must have a bad memory
I don't think ANYONE is arguing that point, are we? Me? My guy right now is the guy set to be a free agent AND has proven his professionalism...and is only 29. If we want wins in 2018, that is who needs to be the QB for the Browns in 2018. Get your rookie as well, I'm fine with that (as long as it's Mayfield), then ride Cousins to get this team some damn experience.
Also you are in a way saying QB isnt #1 priority cause you have other players rated higher....who did you have rated higher Watson or Garrett? Watson or Fournette?
LMAO....well, then you can still get his caliber in FREE AGENCY in 2018... 2017 version: Kirk Cousins 66.6% 3,289, 21 TDs, 8 INTs Jared Goff 62.2% 3,184, 20 TDs, 6 INTs I don't see the aversion to Kirk Cousins from everyone...As much as I don't like spending draft picks on players I deem less qualified than other players, some of you have an aversion to spending money on players that are already proven...I don't get it... We have a historical amount of money to spend and a QB just waiting to become a free agent, which is also historical. All the planets are aligned, yet there are many on here that would RATHER put the hopes of our woeful team in the hands of a rookie, than buy the proven professional...
Well, not only wasn't he guaranteed, but it was impossible to get Goff...so, isn't a non guarantee still better than impossible?
