MONDAY MORNING QUARTERBACK

I think Bridgewater will sign before March for around 6-8M and Case if things continue the way they have and takes Minnesota deep in to the playoffs, could sign between 15-18M, according to some. No way is Bradford in the picture and at $20M the Vikings could have both Teddy and Case... the two of them could even battle for the starters job next season.

That's how I hope things work out.

Really think Bridgewater takes 6-8 million? I don’t see that unless there are a lot of incentives worked in. You know your team a lot better than me, but I think it’s wishful thinking for that scenario. Maybe Bridgewater doesn’t get any suitors, or he’ll feel some loyalty to the Vikings.

 

Enough teams need a QB this offseason that they'll give Teddy 2 years and a boat load of money.

 

Exactly, I don't think for a second there isn't a team out there willing to give up at least Mike Glennon money. That would be (2) contracts at about $15M each. In this case, I don't think Teddy owes the Vikings and discounts simply because he is ready to go and they are choosing Keenum over him...he wants to play.

Bradford will be signed by another team as well for similar money.

Thing is, Does Keenum leave the Vikings and find the same type of success, or is this the perfect place/system for him to thrive?

Overall, I think Teddy is the better player, but the injury really worries me. If he had come back and played as soon as he was ready and looked like the same player, yes, I would do what it takes to retain him. The injury won't stop another team from paying him to be their immediate starter and that ultimately is what he wants.

Sorry Will, in this case I don't think you will be able to get your cake and eat it too. Decisions will need to be made and the clear cut winner needs to be signed prior to free agency beginning. It needs to be priority #1.

 

If Teddy was to sign for another team it would have to be in excess of about $8M, so it is possible he stays in Minnesota, maybe not likely, but a feller can dream cant he? Seriously, after further thought and listening to you guy's input, I doubt the Vikes can retain 2 qb's off the current roster. Keenum's job to lose in my opinion.

I do want the best of both worlds and cake... lots a cake, lol.

Just hoping for the best and hoping Spielman doesn't mess this up. I don't thing Keenum is a fluke. I think the chemistry that he has with the receivers behind a good o-line have made Minny the perfect fit for him.

 

I guess they could start Bridgewater in week 17 if they are locked into a seeding. Just see how he looks and make the choice.

 

Even then I wouldn’t want to mess with the chemistry of the team. This team is in a hell of a roll, out 2018 out of their mind...

 

Kirk Cousins on NFL Network ripping him: “I’m sure it drives ratings”

Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins was on the receiving end of blistering criticism on NFL Network after Thursday night’s loss to the Cowboys, with players-turned-commentators Marshall Faulk, Steve Smith and Michael Irvin all pinning the blame on Cousins.

Asked about it this morning, Cousins brushed it off. Cousins said on 106.7 The Fan that he wasn’t aware of the criticism, but once he heard about it, he figured it was just an attempt to stir controversy.

“People can say what they want to say, and that’s fine. I’m sure it drives ratings. It helps [attract] viewership. So be it,” Cousins said, via the Washington Post.

Faulk raised the question of whether Thursday night’s performance will make Washington decide not to sign Cousins to a lucrative contract this offseason, and Smith replied that Cousins’ performance” probably cost him between $10 and $20 million off that contract.”

One game probably isn’t going to cost Cousins eight figures on his next contract, but Cousins is more concerned with avoiding future games like last night’s than responding to his critics at the league-owned media outlet. (PFT)

I would just consider the sources... not a fan of a couple of those guy's, especially Michael Irvin.

 

Pretty harsh criticism for a pretty good game for Cousins...his first INT wasn’t his fault, he threw a catchable ball the Crowder dropped and was picked. The second one was a good play by a DL to tip the pass and it went right to a defender. He’s playing with an OL that has been decimated and still made plays.

 

Aaron Rodgers practiced today for the first time since shoulder surgery. He has been designated to come off of IR.

 

I wonder if they lose one of the next two or both if they will bother playing him. They realistically must win out to have any shot.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, as expected, returned to practice on Saturday, for the first time since a right clavicle fracture resulted in the use of 13 screws to bind the bone together. And so, as the franchise quarterback turns 34 today, the question becomes which day he’ll return to play.

He’s eligible to take the field in 15 days, when the Packers visit the Panthers. Rodgers has made it clear that he’ll return only if he’s healthy, and if “it would make sense” to return.


For now, it still makes sense, because the Packers remain alive for a playoff berth. A loss at home this week to the Buccaneers or next week at Cleveland could make it much harder for the Packers to get to the playoffs, even if Rodgers returns and the team runs the table in games against the Panthers, Vikings, and Lions.

However it plays out, get ready for 2013 all over again, which featured weekly will-he-or-won’t-he reports as he recovered from a broken left clavicle — and which introduced terms like “organizational decision,” “extraordinary risk,” and “perceived toughness” to the national conversation about whether and when Rodgers would play.

 

Aaron Rodgers looks “like himself” as the scout-team quarterback

No team has a better scout-team quarterback than the Packers do.

Aaron Rodgers returned to practice Saturday, but reporters didn’t get their first look at the former league MVP until Wednesday. Rodgers looked “like himself” as Jordy Nelson said. Aside from, of course, the part where Rodgers lined up at cornerback on the scout team.

“He throws the ball unlike any I’ve ever seen,” Brett Hundley said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “Still slinging it.”

Rodgers split scout-team work with backup Joe Callahan and practice-squad quarterback Jerod Evans.

Rodgers underwent surgery on his broken right clavicle on Oct. 19, and the Packers placed him on injured reserve the following day. He does not become eligible to return to game action until Dec. 17 at Carolina.

Thus, Hundley starts again Sunday, possibly for the last time this season.

Doctors have not cleared Rodgers for contact yet, but he is expected to undergo a scan after Sunday’s game against the Browns to see if the collarbone has healed.

Linebacker Clay Matthews said last week the Packers probably shouldn’t have placed Rodgers on injured reserve, because Rodgers appears ready to return.

“I think we know when he comes back we know what he brings to the table,” Matthews said. “In the meantime, there’s no point in getting too excited over his hopeful return, because Brett’s our guy. We’ve got these four more games, and I assume one more game with Brett at the helm. We’ve got to get this win first, but hopefully that’s the plan moving forward.” (courtesy PFT)

 

Finding QB is John Dorsey's top priority

The Cleveland Browns' firing of Sashi Brown and hiring of John Dorsey on Thursday was one of the quickest front office turnarounds in league history. In his introductory news conference Friday, Dorsey made it clear that Cleveland's franchise turnaround won't be as swift. At least not until they find a quarterback.

"Let's sit down as a group [at the end of the season]," Dorsey said of Cleveland's QB quagmire. "This is a quarterback-driven league. We all know that and we all know, to succeed and to go a little bit farther and farther and farther, you need one of those guys. So I think it's an evaluation period that's going to take a little bit to put a plan together.

"The draft is four and a half months away. Free agency is three months away. We have ample time to make a plan here."

The Browns' quarterback room is the youngest in the league with DeShone Kizer (21), Kevin Hogan (25) and Cody Kessler (24) all seeing starts over the past two seasons. Over the past four year, nine quarterbacks have started games for the Browns, including Cleveland draft picks Kizer, Kessler and Johnny Manziel and veterans Josh McCown and Robert Griffin. Nothing has clicked.

Lucky for Dorsey, he inherits a ton of salary-cap space, paved by the previous administration, and five draft picks in the first and second rounds, including the likely top pick in the draft for the second year in a row, a draft that is top-heavy with QB talent. For Cleveland, who go through quarterbacks like no other, acquiring a signal-caller of the future is key.

As Browns owner Jimmy Haslam explained it, how Dorsey's staff deals with the situation under center will define his tenure and the future of the franchise.

Kizer is already officially done. lol.

 

He never had a chance to get started...Should have had a veteran on the team to give him that chance..Now Dorsey is here to make sure future rookies (including Kizer for that matter) have a chance to succeed.

 

Matthew Stafford is expected to play

As the Lions try to avoid sliding to 6-7 and, as a practical matter, disappearing from the playoff chase, they’ll have quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Stafford, despite a hand injury suffered in a 44-20 loss to the Ravens, is expected to play on Sunday at Tampa Bay, via Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Stafford has a history of playing through injuries. He aggravated an ankle problem against the Lions last month, but didn’t miss a beat. However, Stafford yielded to Jake Rudock after the injury.

X-rays were negative on Stafford’s hand. He has been limited in practice all week, and he’s officially listed as questionable.

 

It's about the way it was worded. It sounds like he wants to find a true #1 not on the roster.

I hate to see any player injured, but I can't say the same for certain fans... Serves you right for laughing at other fans misery... hope you learned a lesson..

 

Ya Karma all from me. Plus I wasn't laughing at the Browns, just Kizer and it was less making fun of him and more at the circumstance. The irony of it for lack of a better word I can't find.
