Many fans were screaming and hollering about the Ravens not drafting WR, or trading up to draft one, in this years draft. As it turns out, the Marlon Humphrey pick was the absolute right one. But, here are the stats this year for the top WR's:

    1st tier:
Corey Davis - 5th pick to the Titans - Been injured most of the year. Hamstring mostly. 22 receptions. 227 yds. 10.3 ave. 0 TD's. Longest reception - 23 yds. Probably has the best upside of any of them, if he can stay healthy.

Mike Williams - 7th pick to the Chargers. He's been injured most of the year. Herniated disc and now a knee injury. 2017 stats - 9 rec. 84 yds. 9.3 ave. 0 TD's. Longest reception - 20 yds. Still has tremendous upside, but how well will he hold up?

John Ross - 9th pick to the Bengals - Injured most of the year and now on IR. Knee injuries and now a shoulder injury. 3 games. 0 receptions. This pick had, and still has, Breshad Perriman written all over it, but, at the number 9 pick.

O.J. Howard - 19th pick to the Bucs - Although not a WR, this was my favorite pick as he is certainly a hybrid, plus the one of the best blocking TE's coming out of college. Started the year mostly watching from the sidelines learning the Bucs playbook and had a bit of a dropped reception issue. TE and WR are said to be the 2 toughest positions on offense for rookies, especially those that dominated in college. 21 receptions. 348 yds. 16.6 ave. 4 TD's. Longest reception 58 yds.

    2nd tier:
Zay Jones - 37th pick to the Bills - 25 receptions. 291 yds. 3 TD's. Longest reception - 33 yds. He may never be the "star" but he sure looks like a quality receiver.

    Curtis Samuel - 40th pick to the Panthers - Hasn't done a lot in the receiving game. 15 receptions. 115 yds. 7.7 ave. 0 TD's. Longest reception - 23 yds. 4 rushes. 64 yds.

JJSS - 62nd pick to the Steelers - Has the best numbers of any receiver in the 2017 draft, but also has the most controversy due to his immaturity. Suspended for 1 game. 37 receptions. 585 yds. 5 TD's. Longest reception - 97 yds.

Is John Ross actually on IR? I read he was a healthy scratch against the Steelers.

Honestly, none of these rookie WRs blew up, but to be fair there's been a lot of injury. JuJu was the only one really worth getting to some degree. You lose out on Bowser, but that wouldn't have been too bad since they'd draft another pass rusher a round later AND Matt Judon unexpectedly turned his game up a notch. Of course this is a pure hindsight comment. And it doesn't factor in how bad Flacco and the o-line have been. JuJu would have been worse here.

TLDR: Humphrey was the right pick

JuJu wouldn't have AB to pull coverage off of him if he played for you guys.

He might not have AB, but he'd have.....oh wait, i'll think of it. He'd have......Oh shit! :sos:

i'm glad they drafted Humphrey.

I think JuJu is very mature for someone who just turned 21...way more mature than I was or am at least. He has a good well-rounded game and I'm glad the Steelers drafted him

  6. I liked Zay Jones in the draft, just not in Rd2. More of a rd3 guy imo. I've said it before and I'll say it again now, I loved the Steelers draft and coveted their picks for our own - at least 3 of their first 4. TJ Watt will be a star and could've been a good replacement for Suggs one day and made Bowser pick unnecessary. However, Suggs still looks like he may be good for another couple years the way he's playing now so... While I picked Humphrey, it was more because of what I thought the Ravens would do, not because of need.

JJSS I knew was going to be another Boldin-type but with a nastier streak. That hit on Burfict was him definitely channeled his inner Hines Ward on that...and if any player deserved it, it was Burfict. Karma, Bitch! He would not have felt the need to do that in Bmore. JJSS is the receiver I think we needed because of his strength and toughness. Boldin and SSS where probably the toughest we've ever had and we're missing that now. I really think we whiffed on him in Rd2. He may not have AB to draw coverage, but Wallace and Maclin together could've and JJSS is great in the red zone, 3rd downs and short yardage. He'd have made Woodhead and Camp unnecessary and more cap money to use elsewhere.

TLDR: Humphrey is working out for us now and happy to have him. I'd say he's paying dividends AT LEAST as good as JJSS and maybe now more with Jimmy gone.

Another thing, if Ozzie is taking notes on this last draft's WR's class (and you know he is) it won't help his phobia about drafting receivers in Rd1/Rd2. That said, maybe he's right? I'd have given my left nut for a guy like Stephon Diggs 2 years ago in the 3rd or 4th. However, he whiffs on them too.
