For those screaming about the schedule amd it being ignored at the end of the season Bama had 3 teams that finished with loosing records Ohio st had 6. Also i like how everyone wants to forget they opened the season trashing Florida State. The only reason they finished 6-6 is because of the loss of their QB.

First off, no one is screaming, it just happens to be an important factor that shouldn't and cant be ignored. You brought up the losing records... well, that's referring to SOS, but you left out an important part, the wins against ranked teams. You cant regard one factor and disregard another.

the 1 thing that isn't changing -- OSU losing to Iowa by 31!

For all the big wins or lack of big wins for Alabama or anyone else has is a great debate and makes college football so awesome to watch as a fan. However, when you lose to an unranked team by 31, it basically kicks you in the balls and throws your entire season in the toilet ! That's how bad of a loss it is. If they lose by 1 - not so bad, but OSU lost by 31! They got trounced and ran out of the stadium! That's the difference to me. If you wanna dive down deeper on OSU, their second loss was by 15! I know it was to OU but 15's a lot to give up.

I'm not saying I agree with the committee, but to jump from 8th in the rankings to #4 was a lot to ask. By beating Wisky, it helped Bama by letting them simply slide to #4. OSU did all they could and fell short.

Well hell... lets punish, ignore or whatever the Buckeyes because they had an off day and got blown out... nevermind their wins against 'Top 10' ranked teams or any of the other stuff they did.

    Commitee got it right

I doubt the committee sees their 2 losses by double digits EACH as an "off-day." So Bama had an off-day vs Auburn? Clemson had an off-day to Syracuse? Can't play that game. Like I said, I knew being #8 in the pool and jumping to #4 was a lot to ask. I don't agree with what happened Will! Just saying OSU's losses and how they lost and to whom they lost too killed their chances.

Btw on Golic and Wingo they plugged the teams into the old bsc method which is computer based combined with a human poll and got the same 4 teams.

Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield leads three players revealed on Monday as finalists for the 2017 Heisman Trophy.

Along with Mayfield, reigning Heisman winner Lamar Jackson and Stanford running back Bryce Love were selected as finalists. The winner of the award, which goes to college football's most outstanding player, will be revealed Saturday at the Downtown Athletic Club in New York.

Excluding Jackson since he's still in college, eight of the past nine Heisman winners have been selected in the first round of the NFL draft.

Mayfield is considered the favorite to win the award this year, despite off-field issues that have clouded his candidacy. He's the seventh player to finish in the top five of the Heisman voting three times, joining Glenn Davis (Army), Doc Blanchard (Army), Doak Walker (SMU), Archie Griffin (Ohio State), Herschel Walker (Georgia) and Tim Tebow (Florida).

Mayfield's a Heisman finalist for the second year in a row after leading the Sooners to a Big 12 title and berth in the College Football Playoff (Rose Bowl vs. Georgia). He leads the FBS this season with 46 total TDs, and is the FBS all-time leader in passer efficiency rating (176.03). The QB was stripped of his captaincy a couple weeks ago after making a lewd gesture during Oklahoma's win over Kansas. He was arrested in the offseason on charges of public intoxication, fleeing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He eventually accepted a plea deal in the case.

^^ fleeing is a loose term. he ran like 5 feet after talking to the cops and got caught from behind. haha.

    Just some more trivia facts:
3 of those were first overall selections (Jameis Winston, Cam Newton and Sam Bradford)
3 are out of the League (Johnny Manziel, RGIII, and Tim Tebow)

Didn't the QB from Louisville win a Heisman already?

Yes, he won it last year. and he is removed from the numbers above since he obviously wasn't able to be drafted yet.

you can win more than 1. Archie Griffin has 2, but get this, he can only vote once. He has fought for this a long time as being a 2 time winner.

    Griffin sucked in the NFL.

  15. Catfish Guest

he still won back to back Heisman's! No one has done it before or since and only a handful that did win were ever even a top 5 finisher again. L. Jackson QB-Lou is in rare company.

Hershal Walker would have won two if he didn't skip his senior season to play for Jersey Generals.

  17. Jeanquev Legend Steelers

he is far from the only winner to suck in the nfl

  18. gidion72 Legend Steelers

But he won two heisman trophies meaning he wasn't a one season wonder.

  19. Jeanquev Legend Steelers

or maybe everyone else in college football those two seasons sucked

and maybe 3 if they didn't want a sophomore winning the award. he easily was the best RB in football multiple years. it was like taboo for anyone but a junior or senior winning until tebow or Bradford won it early. then manziel and Winston won as freshman.
