So two Hall of Famers. Got it.

  2. Yep and something Gordon will never sniff

No, I am NOT comparing Gordon to Cris Carter...well, maybe I am...

Gordon has already accomplished more in the NFL than Carter did at this age (26). This is also the exact age that Carter put his life back together and became sober for the rest of his life.

I am not suggesting Gordon is on the path to becoming a HOFer.. He has already had too much documented that even if he leads the NFL for 6 straight years, he will most likely never have a chance..BUT, at 26, and never playing more than 12 games in his career, he has a lot of football left in that freakish body. His personal life may be the only thing that could derail a parallel career to Carter..

You know, declaring yourself a WR coach, it really discredits you even more to at least not acknowledge his unbelievable skills.

He's got a long way to go, but if Gordon stays sober, and leads the NFL in receiving for 6 straight years, it would be an amazing redemption story. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of it ending in Canton. That'll take care of itself. There is no question that his physical skills are a mismatch for most defensive backs. He's a special talent, and he's still plenty young enough to turn it around. It's up to Josh how he is remembered. He could go down as one of the greats. Or he could go down as one of the great wastes of talent... Hopefully he's got his mind right. The Browns need Josh Gordon.

Well first of all you seem to be marrying physical ability and talent. They are mutually exclusive. There's a lot more talent required to play wide receiver than height, weight, speed, jumping ability. Nevertheless, he didn't even run that fast or jump that high. He wasn't at the combine and ran a 4.52 at his pro day which is hand-timed. I don't think I have to tell you that most guys run faster at their pro day's than they do the combine. He measured 6031, weighed 224 and jumped 35 1/2. Nothing wrong with those numbers but just in his own draft class...

    Josh Gordon, 6031, 224lbs, HH 4.52, 35 1/2 vert
    Michael Floyd, 6025, 220lbs, HH 40 4.40, 36 1/2 vert
    Stephen Hill, 6040, 215lbs, HH 4.28, 39 1/2 vert
    Reuben Randle, 6027, 210lbs, HH 4.43, 31 vert
Alshon Jeffrey, 6027, 216lbs, HH 4.48, 36 1/2 vert (and he dropped because of a perceived lack of physical measurables)
    Brian Quick, 6034, 220lbs, HH 4.50, 34 vert
    Greg Childs, 6031, 219lbs, HH 4.39, 40 1/2 vert
    Marvin McNutt, 6026, 216lbs, HH 4.48, 37 vert
    Dwight Jones, 6032, 230lbs, HH 4.51, 33 vert
    Jeff Fuller, 6041, 223lbs, HH 4.53, 32 vert
    Dale Moss, 6032, 213lbs, HH 4.51, 41 1/2 vert
    Gerell Robinson, 6031, 227lbs, HH 4.54, 35 1/2 vert
    Derek Moye, 6042, 209lbs, HH 4.46, 33 1/2 vert

Again, that's just in the 2012 draft class. Obviously he has other things that most of those guys don't but the measurables just aren't that big of deal - until you William Wallace them.

So while high, drunk, and all other sorts of impaired, Josh Gordon (with abysmal quarterback play) notched: 1,646 yards and 9 touchdowns in only 14 games, leading the NFL in receiving. He clearly has all the talent in the world to produce number like that without a quality supporting cast and performance inhibiting drugs in his system.

No one's talking about 2012 - when he was high, drunk, and all other sorts of impaired. We're talking about the last year of his life while he's battled his addiction and gotten into shape. He was timed at 4.34 in Gainesville. His trainer, a former Olympic athlete, has said if he dedicated himself to training for the 400 he could take gold. So now, he's pairing a physique that has been crafted for the past year with innate aptitude (talent) for playing the position AND he's doing so clean.

I'm not suggesting he's going to the Hall of Fame or even going to dominate the NFL in his return - rust and other obstacles are still present - but he's got a physical skill set and personal talent level to dominate the NFL at his position if he stays clean and dedicates himself to football.

I'm not sure why this is a struggle for some of you to understand?

I won't be surprised if Gordon gets a stat line of something like 6 rec, 85 yards, 1 TD (or better)....Even a bit rusty, JG is a problem for defensive backs.

And the same guy came back one year later and in 5 games averaged 60 yards per game with 0 TDs. Ya think teams took him a little more seriously the following season? Josh is like most really good wide receivers. If you try to cover them one-on-one they are going to go off. You have to double them and you hope you have some complimentary guys than can beat one-on-one coverage (I believe the Browns do). The GREAT receivers in this league beat double-teams. I think the addition of Gordon to the Browns lineup could have a tremendous impact. He's super-talented. But it's crazy to suggest that only "the only receiver who comes remotely close to his level of talent (POTENTIAL) over the past decade has been Calvin Johnson".

Trainers tend to be a little dramatic. I think Martavis' trainer clocked him at 4.27 or something crazy this off-season. He looks good. I expect him to play well. I don't expect him to repeat what he did in 2013. There were a lot of variables in that equation. His 2nd best game was against the Steelers and the Browns play-calling in the 4th quarter was 22 pass, 1 run. The steelers were content to run only with a 3 score lead and Gordon had 169 of his 237 yards in the 4th quarter.

    In Gordon's 2013 season:
15% of his total yards came in the 1st quarter, 35% in the 4th quarter
22% of this total yards came when leading, 16% when tied, 62% came when the Browns were behind
11% of his TDs came when leading, 11% when tied, 78% came when the Browns were behind

Doesn't mean the guy isn't a great receiver because I believe he is (or at least was). But when you evaluate his 2013 season and then try to project ahead to future seasons you have to put some things in perspective. And the Browns tendency to play from behind certainly contributed to the totals. Doesn't take away from how good he is.

I have a problem with the word dominant for all the reasons I've mentioned. Guys who have dominated this league at the WR position are guys that do it in every game situation and they do it year in and year out as the focus of the team's offense. They face double-teams and win anyway. Only time will tell if Gordon is that good.

Even as I read Hugh is dialing up all kinds of plays for Gordon I think Josh's return will be very beneficial to Corey Coleman. I think if healthy he'll look very good over the next 5 games and assuming Gordon's sobriety is real the Browns will go into 2018 with some serious weapons. Now they just need a QB and a new playcaller.

  11. You deciding if Im credible or not doesnt matter to me one bit

  12. I used to bring up that point all the time...he did so much damage when the game was decided.....kinda like 2day....caught a 40 yd pass w under 2 mins left and down 2 scores

  13. Nope the direct opposite...Coleman 0 catches cause they want to stunt his growth and throw it 11 times to Gordon who caught only 4

  14. SAS M.V.P. Rams Chargers

Dude... I'm starting to think Josh Gordon might have Fletcher Cox'd your significant other or something. How is it JG's fault Coleman caught zero of his four targets or that DeShone Kizer completed less than 50-percent of his passes?

The only thing you ever do is try to antagonize...No matter who or what, if it has anything to do with the Browns you are negative about it.....We get it.

  17. How is that being negative.....the above poster said getting Gordon back will open up Coleman...I said it had a direct opposite effect w 0 catches...thats not the truth?

I wasn't too far off...He had 4 catches for 85 yards...And if Kizer could throw with NFL caliber accuracy, it would have been a lot better.

Why did we leave Duke Johnson out of the gameplan yesterday? I just don't understand what the deal was yesterday with our offense. I gotta put it on Kizer. He's just not good. The guy can't hit the money throws. Every once in a while he puts one in perfectly and it always seems to surprise our WR's, but the majority of the time he's just off...The skinny post to Gordon should have been an easy six. If he puts it on the back shoulder, Gordon walks in to the endzone. Instead it's too high and throws the safety right into the play, essentially turning JG into the defender...It's aggravating as hell watching Kizer because he's close, but he's off just enough so that we can NEVER get into any offensive rhythm....I figured having JG back would open up things for Njoku, and it did, but I don't know what happened to the running game. Duke wasn't even involved. Kizer needs a strong running game if we are gonna get a W with him.

I love that the recipient of Gordon's presence is David Njoku and not Corey Coleman, as the OP suggested... but that because the name and not the premise was wrong, you thump your chest like you got something right.
