My first thought when I saw the play was it was a bad call. I said to my wife that the Bills got screwed, but they won the game so it didn't matter.

A sign of my increasing age?

 

this has nothing to do with Wentz Axe. After his 13-3 rookie season, the NFC East Title and a first rd bye, Dak and Dallas were the talk of the NFL. They got upset in rd 2 and nothing has gone their way or Dak's way since. Zeke's suspension and injuries have crippled Dallas. Dak doesn't look like the same player as last year due to the loss of Zeke and other key Cowboys.

 

Yeah, it DOES have to do with Wentz, because 99% of the time it's Eagles fans spouting this line. I hear it a dozen times a day on local radio - quick to throw shade on Dak because he isn't winning without 'Zeke (and Tyron Smith, and Sean Lee), but they gloss over how bad Wentz played last year when HE didn't have a better cast around him.

 

AXE-unless you're a mind reader, don't put me in the same bucket as talk radio listeners and host. hell after last season, i was dreading the Cowboys for the next 10 yrs on how well Dak and the Cowboys at 13-3 were last year and how much they kicked the Eagles asses in. Now a year later and I'm happy they came back down to Earth. To me this has nothing to do with Wentz. I didn't make the comparison to Wentz last year and the cast around him. I don't care about it. All I said was Dak doesn't look as good without Zeke and some key Cowboys.

 

When I said earlier that Dak was a good QB, you hedged it by saying he had to prove it without 'zeke. So how is this different from me saying the situation was the same with Wentz?

 

axe - i learned any debate with you and the Cowboys is a losing effort for me, so why bother? i didn't bring up wentz. i didn't bring up what other eagles fans allegedly say on the radio 10x a day. i posted what i posted and that's it-my own thoughts about it. no hidden slights or agendas. it wasn't a shot at you, dak, zeke, or the cowboys franchise.

 

All I ask for is consistency across the board, Cat. You bought into Wentz last year, right?

 

consistency from a football fan? i don't think a team's fans are consistent week to week let alone year to year. i don't know why you get mad at any Eagles fan posting about the Cowboys? I was being honest about my view of Dak with or without Zeke. I could've said worse things about the guy.

all i know is dak 2 weeks ago vs philly looked like a guy who barely played QB. he skipped passes off the turf, overthrew wrs, cried to the refs all the time and looked lost. last year - he was running, throwing, got mean, got nasty and looked like a seasoned pro and not some rookie. i don't know if that is due to the loss of Zeke or other Cowboys or just a sophomore slump and jinx. he just doesn't look the same. like 2 different people. Even with Zeke this year, Dak just doesn't seem like himself. I don't know why?

Wentz, again, i didn't mention him, last year at 3-0 was the next coming of God himself or at least Dan Marino or Peyton Manning. Then reality set in and the team showed it's true colors and lost a ton of games, finished 7-9 and Wentz looked like some rookie out of a Div II school , who should've went in the 5th rd vs #2 overall.

Now this year, I still don't think Wentz right now, looked as good as Dak last year. Dak looked like facing the next Dallas QB HOF'er for the next 10 yrs. Now - not so much. Wentz looks more confident and the benefit of 4 RBs, year 2 under Coach D. Pederson and better 0-line with Johnson back from suspension and much better WRs! Who is better overall ? I have no idea. I don't care. The Eagles are 10-1 and I'm in shocked of it all.

Is Wentz the next Marino or Manning? He's not. He manages the game well, but he doesn't have the rocket arm or surgical precision other great QBs have. Hell, I'm happy with what he has given Eagles fans. The Eagles game plan is working right now. Lets see how it does in January when the playoffs start ? I said 2 weeks ago this is a down year in the NFL and a perfect season to win a SB if they can. All I want is 1 in my lifetime. 1 parade down Broad Street and I don't give a rat's ass what he does the rest of his life. He will already own the city if he can carry the EAGLES to the SUPER BOWL!

 

So basically we should all just accept blind homerism, and an attitude of "when we win, we're awesome, and when we lose we suck." Color me different, Cat, but I tend to expect a little more out of folks.
