Collectectors are loaded now, just buy and bind your time. I knew this one guy, he was a beatles collector in the 80s and 90s, he's a multi-millionaire now. He used to have a shop called beatlemania, his biggest client was the owner of the indianapolia colts.

but what can you afford? who can afford a 1965 corvette stingray or a les paul guitar? most people can't afford great stuff or hard to find stuff to hold onto and then sell. and some people (sellers) are crazy and buyers aren't that dumb or gullible.

case in point - [IMG] this issue correctly predicting the Astros WS win in 2014 is going for huge bucks on eBay. Some have it as low as $50. Some insane people are selling it for $150, 200, 300 and $500. No one is buying that. A year from now, no one will care about this.

It's become a rich mans game now, it's more for the retired guy that could afford to spend 20k to 40k a year.

This guy used to buy rare albums in '83 for $200, he was last getting up to $25k. A signed rare album could get you up to $350k, he paid $600 for it.

he's a smart man. it's like people who protected and saved their cars from 60-80 yrs ago. people are driving the car on the roads, but the smart ones rarely drove them and put it in a garage. who could realistically do that?? most couldn't. same for kids who saved their baseball cards instead of ruining them. it's the savers mentality of holding onto something for the future!! a kid in 1909 had no idea a T206 card of Ty Cobb or Honus Wagner would be worth so much now. But something inside their heads told them to hold onto those cards. That's a gift. Same for music-guitars and albums and guns, coins, stamps, paintings, clothes, etc.

my neighbor only brought out his '57 chevy cherry red and white convertible in the summertime on sunny days. that puppy never saw the rain or a cloudy day. hoarding that thing in a garage takes up space and money. well he did it and it paid off.

There's a story about this old widow that sold her late husbands collectable '63 vette for $1000. It was in a barn covered by a tarp, she was selling the place and thought she was getting rid of junk. The going price right now is up to $200k.

Btw, the beatles collector flew out to LA to buy the last album signed by john lennon. He signed it for the guy that ended up assassinating him the next day. This was three years ago,.not sure what he paid.

    omg - she got snookered.

some old german or italian had a unique car in their garage from the 1930's. it was in terrible shape and the seats deteriorated due to the lapse in time. the car's body was still in decent shape. the car was so rare in any condition it went for over a million bucks. i gotta find that article again.

This was 25 years ago, the car was worth $20k back then. I heard that they were really wealthy, had a lot of cars and she couldn't be bothered trying to get the market price.
I guess she didn't need the money and was in a giving mood.

I was standing in line at tims today to get a coffee, the customer in front of me turns around after he orders and runs right into me. Instead of doing the Canadian thing and saying, "sorry about that", he gets upset at me and shakes his head. I said, "get out of my way, you pos".
The customer was wearing muslim garb, the robe and cap, a customer walked in and was looking at me like I was in the wrong. Sure, what I did could look like its racist, but that's the easy way out. The customer that was waiting for his coffee to the left said that he also bumped into him too. Not sure what his problem was, but I wasn't having any of it. He went to the bathroom and came out, without the gear, wtf?????

No, I wasn't gonna kick his ass unless he started with me, worst thing you could do with all these high tech cameras.

My little lady friend works at another location.
