    Good catch, he was mostly a DH then, Mike Hargrove was the Indians' regular 1B. But when he did play the field it was at 1B.

    Good guesses, but no. Whitey is 89, Luis is 83. The gentleman in question is 94. And primarily played the same position Doerr did.

    I'm thinking Doerr was the last to play in the 1930's, there is no one left.

    His playing career didn't start until the 1940's. He is still currently employed by the team he played most of his career for.
