The Philadelphia Eagles are going to sign free agent linebacker Dannell Ellerbe tomorrow, according to his agent, via Twitter. Ellerbe is an eight year veteran who has played with the Ravens, Dolphins, and Saints.

Ellerbe will turn 32 years old later this month.

With the Saints a year ago, Ellerbe had 44 tackles, 4 sacks, and 2 pass breakups in nine games (eight starts). According to Josh Katzenstein of The Times-Picayune, Ellerbe was unable to pass a physical before training camp began in July, due to a foot injury. He also suffered an assortment of other injuries since the Saints traded Kenny Stills to the Dolphins for Ellerbe and a third round pick in 2015.

Ellerbe attended school at the University of Georgia and was a 2009 undrafted free agent who signed with the Ravens when Eagles personnel head Joe Douglas was Baltimore's southeast area scout.

The Eagles' current linebackers are Nigel Bradham, Mychal Kendircks, Joe Walker, Najee Goode, Kamu Grugier-Hill, and Nate Gerry. To be determined how the Eagles intend on using Ellerbe.

I didn't say nobody has missed any games because of injury, I said season ending and the Steelers still don't have a season ending injury.

You don't think a fractured fibula will land Haden on IR?

  4. firehalo Guest

I'm reading that Haden will miss 3 weeks.

Wow, not bad for a fibula fracture..I've always heard 4-6 weeks, then rehab for a few weeks.

Hell, he's been known to miss that for a hang nail . . . on his dog.

The official timeline I saw was 4-6 weeks, but they said there's a chance he could be ready earlier...That report was from Rapoport though and his accuracy is at times suspect. They might IR him and activate Sutton and pray they still get a first round bye and Haden will be available for the playoff run, but if they think he only misses 4 games they will just keep him inactive those weeks. They need to make a decision quick though. IF they IR him now he'll be eligible for the Divisional Round...

The last shred of his career? He hasn't been "good" this season...arguably, he is bringing the Steelers defense down.

Big game from Altanta Falcons' Adrian Clayborn: 6 sacks / 2 Forced Fumbles. Just one take down short of the great Derrick Thomas.

    Most Sacks, Game

7.0 Derrick Thomas, Kansas City vs. Seattle, Nov. 11, 1990
6.0 Fred Dean, San Francisco vs. New Orleans, Nov. 13, 1983
6.0 Derrick Thomas, Kansas City vs. Oakland, Sept. 6, 1998
6.0 Osi Umenyiora, N.Y. Giants vs. Philadelphia, Sept. 30, 2007

Clayborn was unstoppable. Or, perhaps more to the point, Chaz Greene was embarrassingly yielding.

I remember watching Osi Umenyiora abuse Winston Justice and thinking "damn, why aren't they giving Justice some help?" Same thing yesterday (although Dallas did 1: start giving help later in the game and 2: later benched him).

^^axe-Justice was like a piece of swiss cheese or Finch from the movie Wildcats letting the other other team sack his QB!

    Vontaze Burfict won’t be suspended

Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict found himself back in hot water on the field Sunday when he was ejected from the team’s loss to the Titans for making contact with an official.

PFT reported later on Sunday that the league would consider suspending Burfict, who has twice served three-game suspensions for violating the league’s player safety rules. The action and context of Sunday’s ejection as well as Burfict’s history of infractions were to be involved in the decision-making process.

The action consisted of Burfict pushing an official’s hand away from him while the official was keeping Burfict and Titans players away from each other during some post-play jawing. While there was contact, it wasn’t over the top and Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Media both reported on Monday that Burfict will not be suspended as a result.

Burfict will be subject to a fine if the league feels one is warranted for his behavior on that play or for an unnecessary roughness penalty he picked up shortly before his ejection.

    Green Bay Packers...

Aaron Jones expected to miss time with MCL injury...

The Packers got their first win since quarterback Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone when they beat the Bears on Sunday, but not all of the news coming out of the game was positive.

Running back Aaron Jones hurt his knee during the contest and there are multiple reports that Jones is expected to miss around a month with an MCL injury.

Jones was a fifth-round pick this spring and took on a prominent role in the offense a few weeks into the season while Ty Montgomery was dealing with injured ribs. Montgomery had a 37-yard touchdown run against the Bears and will likely move back into the lead role now with Jones on the shelf.

Jones has 70 carries for 370 yards and three touchdowns on the year. (PFT)

Dolphins not ready for prime time, Panthers roll to easy win

The good news is, the Dolphins have one prime time appearance left this season. The bad news is, the Dolphins have one prime time appearance left this season.

The Panthers destroyed the Dolphins 45-21, putting a lid on three straight weeks of the Dolphins in prime time.

After losing 40-0 to the Ravens on a Thursday, they lost a respectable 27-24 decision to the Raiders on Sunday Night Football, before this thrashing. And that cumulative score of 112-45 is something they’ll ponder until they see the Patriots on Monday, Dec. 11.

They offered very little resistance to the Panthers all night, as they were outgained 548-313 and outrushed 294-100. In fact, when Kenyan Drake popped a 66-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, it moved their team rushing total to 90 yards at that point.

Much of that had to do with the Panthers (7-3), who may have found some answers on offense after looking all season. They’ve finally decided to just let Cam Newton be Cam Newton, and thus liberated, he responded with 254 yards passing and four touchdowns and another 95 yards rushing.

But that wasn’t all that worked. Running back Jonathan Stewart responded from a rough stretch of games with a season-high 110 yards (his previous high this year was 68), and Devin Funchess looked like a lead-receiver, with five catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns, the kind of night he didn’t have with Kelvin Benjamin hanging around (before the former first-rounder was traded to Buffalo).

The Panthers needed to find that offensive rhythm to keep pace with the Saints (7-2) in the NFC South, and set up an interesting finish to the season after some early stumbles. They just have to hope they don’t lose that rhythm over their bye week, but they’re also hoping to get Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen back later this month. (PFT)

The games were pretty boring from a neutral perspective this week after the 1pm games. This week should have a few good games spread out throughout the time-slots at least.

They managed to get a shot of the "crowd" in there too...10 of the 200 that were there to witness it...Our local high school are still in the playoffs in Ohio and we had more fans for those than they had...

(edit: ) Let me clarify, I am not poking fun, I sincerely feel bad for the athletes that there isn't more support for a conference championship game.
