I read all the college QB reports and the comments here, and all I can think is how very hard it is to "know" which guy / guys have what it takes. Thank God we have a AB Guru for a coach.
That's why you take the guess work out of the equation and PAY Kirk Cousins to resurrect this offense...In the end, free agency is a simple process. How often does a franchise QB hit free agency? I cannot remember one....This is a once in a generation opportunity and the Browns have more cap space to lure him in than any other team. This isn't rocket science, you don't have to put together an algorithm, or hire an agency to evaluate Kirk Cousins vs the entire draft class...He is the KNOWN commodity every team in this league seeks and never is made available, yet by some twist of fate...he is available and what it will take is a shit load of money to convince his agent that he can become idolized in the city of Cleveland.
It's not rocket science, but niether is making trades.......... Still, I agree that Cousins makes all the sense in the world. Imagine a camp where we "know" who our starter is. Be still my heart. Git er done
"They had our paperwork, we had theirs, and then it was incumbent upon us to send it in" Sashi Brown just admitted it outright. He also said they waited until the last couple minutes to get the trade done and they were too slow and not trying to sabotage or make up any stories. So we can put to bed the stories that this never happened and was twisted.
He also talked about the offensive line. "Our offensive line has come together and stabilized," he said. "We have more pieces we need to drop in here to get the roster to where we need it to be, but there are signs of progress that people can be excited about and look forward to. At the same time, we're disappointed in the results and we own those. We'll get those better." For all your Browns news from Berea follow @FredGreetham on Twitter This MORON is clueless . how do you lose one of the best LT to ever play the game and tell us that the O Line is now stable ? he also rambled on how well the defense has played .okay I will give him that . the offense is OFFENSIVE and we still don't have a QB
BEREA, Ohio -- At the end of Wednesday's media with Hue Jackson he mentioned that Ibraheim Campbell injured his hamstring during Wednesday's practice. On Thursday, Campbell was released with an injury designation. To replace Campbell, the Browns have signed defensive back Derron Smith to the active roster off Cincinnati’s practice squad. Smith (5-10, 200) is in his third NFL season out of Fresno State. Originally selected by Cincinnati in the sixth round of the 2015 draft, Smith has appeared in 31 games. He has logged seven tackles, one pass defensed and six special teams tackles. This season, he has appeared in three games and was signed to the Bengals’ practice squad on Nov. 7. Smith will wear No. 36. Campbell has appeared in 37 career games with 11 starts for the Browns. He totaled 15 tackles, one pass defensed and one fumble recovery in eight games this season. He was a fourth-round draft choice (115th overall) by the Browns in the 2015 NFL Draft. For all your Browns news from Berea follow @FredGreetham on Twitter I think Shelton is the last Farmer pick left . he isn't lights out so I doubt they pick up his option . Farmer was a &%#*@ MORON ! That's sad. We are living the football nightmare that Ray Farmer set this team up for...At the end of the day, it still boils down to identifying a QB. Which is really sad, because I'm not sure our current FO is any better in that area than Ray was, or any other GM Cleveland has had for that matter. Until we get something going at QB, we won't win. It's not that hard to figure. If we can ever land the QB, we can have a big turnaround like the Rams are enjoying right now. The team must have someone at that position to believe in. The Cleveland Browns O-line ranks #7 in the NFL.....Our rushing defense ranks #4......When you are good in those two areas, there is no excuse for being 0-8. I understand the WR's stink, but we have TE's and RB's that can produce, and good QB's adjust and find a way..Our WR's are capable if you can put the ball where it needs to be...I believe an average QB (think- Josh McCown) would have 4 or 5 wins with this team....A below average QB (think- Colin Kaepernick) would have 2 or 3 wins.....There's nothing wrong with our RB's. Look at ANY team that has a struggling QB. They can't run the ball. Get the QB, and things will magically improve here too...If the goal REALLY is to win now, Kizer should not be starting....Which brings up the question; What are the Browns trying to accomplish at this point?
Not to defend Farmer, but he did give us Joel Bitonio (second round) and Chris Kirksey (fourth round) in 2014 and Nate Orchard (second round) and Duke Johnson Jr. (third round) in 2015. We also have Randall Telfer left (sixth round, 2015). I would argue that Bitonio, Kirksey, and Johnson are some of the more talented players on our roster.
He didn't miss on every pick, but he missed on the big ones. And he missed bad....The year we came away with Gilbert and Johnny was obviously devastating to the franchise. No doubt, busting like that gets ya fired....The Raiders owe us thank you's. Mack and Carr were very popular prospects among Browns fans. But honestly, we could have taken ANYBODY over the two knuckleheads we took, and things would have been better. Ray couldn't have botched that any worse than he did. And that wasn't the only first round he butchered...
Oh, I completely agree. That wasn't meant to be an affirmation for Farmer. He's the second-worst GM we've ever had. Tom Heckert was worse.
They also waived Deon King and signed LB Josh Keyes from San Diego. With the addition of a former Bengal and Charger, are they trying to find any possible leg up on the competition for the second half of the season?
You are happy w Nate Orchard as a 2nd round pick? He has 32 tackles and 4 sacks in his 3 yr career so far
The OP said Shelton was the only player left from Farmer's tenure here. I said we still also had: Bitonio, Kirksey, Orchard, Johnson, and Telfer. I went on to say that Bitonio, Kirksey, and Johson were pretty good players for us. I did not include Orchard or Telfer in the "talented" group.
I thought they were all gone .my bad . all this crap has run together like one big batch of shit stew . How could I have forgotten about Heckert .
