Ya, Beach, you're right. Hue's first go around was with a substantially more stable organization under Al Davis. My point is, and will remain, it serves no purpose to blow up the franchise every two years and start over. Been there, done that.
But the point is Irish the guys in charge are supposed to be gargantually better at making these decisions. They don't get a free pass because a bunch of guys watching tape on Draft Breakdown agreed with them.
How could he screw up worse than passing on Carson Wentz and Deshone Watson in consecutive seasons, while he brought us Bob Griffin and Shizer??? Geez man...I don't think it's possible.
I understand why you would say that but I think you guys tend to overstate how far that sets you back. We have seen numerous examples in the last 5 years of new organizations making very quick turnarounds.
Eagles Rams Raiders KC So on and so forth. The owner there is terrible. He was and always will be a thief. Now he is not just taking money, he is taking your football souls.
And how many of those new organizations peeled the roster back to it's birthday suit so they could bring in "their guys"? We have documented evidence in Cleveland that it doesn't work. And make no mistake . . . Bring a new front office into Cleveland, it will happen . . . AGAIN!
I know the Rams are not the norm but they didn't do that with McVay. They looked at the roster, found the holes and then brought guys in to fill them. I'm not sure the Browns are the kind of team someone would feel the need to tear down. They are so young it would be kinda pointless. And they aren't married to any scheme or style of offense. I think what you are describing is kind of antiquated.
Really Lyman? So every time I have an observation on a team. Its held against me that a team I have followed since the late 70s and were terrible for much of it because they are good now?
Whatever we are currently doing, is obviously not working. Our mistakes are glaring for the entire world to see. I personally think Hue Jackson is an obvious target to terminate. Besides his failure to find us a QB yet, while we pass them out like cookies, Hue's on field coaching is abysmal. His coaching challenges are laughable. His clutch time decision making is horrendous. An example: (just one of many)- The guy goes for two points in a game that he trails by 9, with a minute and 30 seconds left. And I think he's done it twice! Failing both times....What doesn't he get??? if ya miss on the 2 pointer, GAME OVER. I mean, if he had some awesome 2 point play up his sleeve, I could MAYBE understand the gamble. But he doesn't...His plays are terrible in that situation....And it's stupid to go for it in the first place. Get within a score. It's not that hard to figure out. If you can recover the onside kick, you got a chance, instead of just a deflated team all wondering WTF?... I was willing to forget about the fails at finding us a QB, because that's on the FO as well. Hue Jackson's in game performance speaks for itself, as does his record...
No. Not at all. If you would like to share your observations via constructive dialog, I (we) would welcome that. But if you are content to come in and sling shit (like our owner is a thief), then I can assure you we already have our share of homegrown trolls that are pretty adept at that.
Here is the simple question and answer...will Hue ever be a HC again in the NFL? The answer is no so you move on
Which is precisely why I'm in favor of forcing Hue to hire an OC to clear his plate for managing the team during games.
And in addition to all that I think you have to send the message to any potential new assistant coach or free agent that your on a different path. The exception to this could be a team that finishes the final month really strong.
Question for Beachbum . . . How many times in the past five years or so has there been a grass roots movement on the Steelers' board to shitcan Mike Tomlin? How many times did the Steelers fire him? Where are the Steelers today?
Ok, fair enough. Lets just say I dont think highly of your owner. Nor should you in my opinion. I didnt think Orthwien, Kiam or the Sullivans (they had thier moments) were good either. Not trolling, just saying it starts at the top. And I dont like the direction he has brought your team in.
Huge difference...Steelers are always in contention....Browns setting records for losing.... Mike Tomlin never came close to losing like this....
