We appreciate the kind words, but the Steelers had an offense last season. Their defense improved as the season went on. The Ravens have a defense. The end
It would take a miracle for the team to turn that offense around. It's more of a mindset than skill set issue. That goes from Harbaugh to Morhinweg to Flacco and all others underneath. The defense might look bad every other week, but at least they don't quit.
Honestly, I think the offense would look a lot better if Flacco and Perriman both stopped playing like shit. But that won't happen so this is the offense we have until next season
Honestly, I think the offense would look a lot better if Flacco and Perriman both stopped playing. But that won't happen so this is the offense we have until next season. Fixed it. Mallet can't be that much worse. Neither could Moore over Perriman. I still think they should've kept Whalen. Besides Maclin, he was the only other WR with dependable hands.
Not that he is playing remotely well (or even to an average level), but how much can you blame Flacco when he is clearly not playing an offense designed to his strengths? Quick accurate throws, reading the defense, throw anticipation, not doing the long ball...that's Brady and not Flacco. I'm not saying he gets a pass for sucking, but I'm also saying no one should be surprised. Coaches think any player can do anything, and that's just silly.
Mallet showed me he could be worse in the second half of the Dolphins game. They only had him throw, I think, 8 times since the run game was dominating. 3 total completions.
I don't disagree with you. This offensive scheme isn't best for Joe. But still, things would be better if 80% of his throws weren't off his backfoot and if he didn't panic and check down to guys at or behind the LoS 2 out of every 3 pass plays. The o-line is not doing that bad
They aren't doing that bad in rush protection, but they haven't been good in pass pro - at least not consistently good that Joe can feel confident the pocket. I'm more in the camp that Joe is 1) overpaid and can't make avg/subpar players better (OL or receivers), 2) he has the talent to make all the throws if he has confidence in the OL which he doesn't nor can he, 3) Ozzie didn't do a great job in preparing an Ol that will give Joe and the receivers time to get open, 4) Harbaugh/Mornhinweg have not made the adjustments to receivers routes or timed routes to compensate for the lack of OL play. I can't lay it all on Joe or Perriman (although my patience with his development is at an end). Joe has made plays but receivers are dropping balls too - we're tied a 6th most with 12. http://stats.washingtonpost.com/fb/tmleaders.asp?range=nfl&rank=232&type=receiving I'm hoping (as I'm sure we all are) that they use this bye to get the passing game on track. Unlike most seasons they never did get this going this year. In fact, its only consistency is that it has been awful.
You can tell by Flacco's comments yet again that he despises this offense. It is exactly the same as under Trestman when we first really started noticing the ineffective dunk and dunk. It starts right there for me with the team. Yes the players have sucked but they are also not playing to their strengths.
And that goes back to the OC and ultimately Harbs. Makes the need for resigning Gary Kubiak all the more necessary. I really don't care if Biscotti makes the decision for Harbaugh (again) to sign him. I don't care if he has to pay him more than what Harbs makes. He's the best option for the team since it was proven he can reshape an offense in a single off season. Plus Joe already has experience with it and did well in it.
