Where Do We Go From Here?

There’s a pretty simple algorithm to figure this QB conundrum out:

    A. If the current regime is replaced, we will take a QB at No. 1 overall. New regimes mean new QBs.

    B. If the Front Office is replaced, we will spend big dollars on an available free agent (Brees, Taylor, Cousins, Bradford, Bridgewater). Current staff doesn’t believe in their guys but a new F/O will want their picks to count (and not trust a 1-31 coach to do right by the QB).

    C. If the coaching staff is replaced, they will pick a QB in the first or second round and may even try to pry away a restricted free agent (like McCarron) depending on the price tag.

So the real question is how Jimmy Haslam deals with the changes in the offseason.

SAS, so option 3: both stay with changes.............?

    D. No regime change? Seems highly unlikely at this point, but I have to think throw all the assets at a team for a proven guy (Cousins, Taylor). *IF* this regime gets a Year 3 they need to go to a winning season and that won’t haPpen with a rookie QB.

  4. Wadley not having any issues

  5. Just wait a few yrs and take Cam Akers

I like the idea of going after Cousins, but I can also think of several other teams that would be in that hunt, including the Redskins themselves...And we all know how it goes for Cleveland when players have options elsewhere...Cardinals, Jets, and Jaguars are all strong possibilities. And possibly Pittsburgh and the Chargers if Ben and Rivers decide to hang em up...For the Browns to land Cousins, we are going to have to overpay considerably, and unfortunately, I'm still not sure if that would get it done...Like it or not, the Cleveland Browns are synonymous with disaster, especially when it comes to QB's...Even with San Francisco out of the way, I don't like our chances of landing Cousins at all...

If Josh Gordon could get back on the field and look like he did a few years ago when he had that remarkable run, it would certainly help....If I'm a free agent QB, I'm looking at that Browns WR depth chart with MAJOR concerns, among many other things...

I don't think anyone will look at Gordon and expect him to stay on the field and out of trouble. Cleveland would have to make some kind of move for another receiver to show they were serious about helping any quarterback that may come in.
I think the Jets definitely have done a good job at making New York a legitimate landing spot for Kirk.

The Cardinals decision on head coach may make a big difference in whether or not that's a good fit, but as far as weapons for the quarterback go, you can't really knock what they have to start with in ARI.

Jacksonville will still be a tough sell unless Marone and company hit the bricks. If Coughlin cleans house and brings in a quarterback friendly coach it could become the most interesting option.

The Chargers may deal Rivers before the final two years of his contract, especially if it looks like the league is going to push for them to move elsewhere. Could Cleveland be a potential landing spot?

If Ben did retire and Kirk could go to Pittsburgh you have to believe that it would be high on his list for friendly places to land. That's an interesting take TD.

Pittsburgh is really a strong team, and they are built to win now. Ben has seemingly taken a step back, and he's hem hawed around about retirement. If he did call it quits at season's end, I'd consider them a perfect landing spot for Cousins, and he'd likely give them a friendly discount...That's how it go's when you run your organization properly...It's completely against the "steeler way" of doing things, but in this scenario, I see them as big players for the top FA QB...

Player A (first 4 games as starter):
    85 touches, 437 yards, 5.1 avg, 2 TDs
Player B (3 games as starter, one as time share):
    79 touches, 424 yards, 5.4 avg, 4 TDs

I'll just leave that here for you to ponder on. Get back to me when you solve it.

His stock is slipping right now, no one said it's not, but what I posted has to do with why people tend to give your opinions a shrug and a head shake.

  18. Well when he was on top of most draft boards I came on here and said I wasnt impressed w him as #1 pick....now people are taking notice....I guess those shaking heads going side to side are now going up and down

His stock is taking a slide because of the last two weeks, there's no question. But your cracked crystal ball and inability to hold your own missed projections accountable makes it so that no one takes you seriously.

Which goes back to what I posted earlier, how you don't understand the numbers, how it reflects on one of your former takes and why no matter what you post here your credibility will always be brought into question.

    Sashi Brown

Did Sashi Brown sabotage the trade for A.J. McCarron? Hearing multiple things from different places today, but sounds like both Hue and Sashi are going to address the media today - separately - so we may get some insights.

If true, Sashi Browns saved the Browns and should be hailed as a hero... and will probably lose his job and find future work in the NFL extremely tough to come by.
