Reports at the time suggested Cleveland offered their 2nd round 2 pick (#52) plus a couple of late rounders. As it stands right now, SF traded their 2nd round pick (#34) to New England for Jimmy G.

So, Frank, please enlighten me as to how the 9ers got him for less.

IIRC wasn't it more like $67 million? Either way it was a huge number, that's for sure. At 32 years old, and not having played in two years, that'd be a pretty tall task to think that you could A) talk him into coming back to play at all, B) work out an acceptable financial arrangement, and C) come up with a trade that works for both teams. I think it's just chum for the rumor mill, honestly.

Kiko Alonso will not be suspended for hit on Joe Flacco

The NFL has decided not to suspend Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso for his hit on Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco on Thursday night.

Alonso delivered a hard hit to Flacco’s head as Flacco was sliding, knocking Flacco’s helmet off and knocking Flacco out of the game.


NFL spokesman Joe Lockhart said today that the league has reviewed the matter and there will be no suspensions stemming from any on-field misconduct during Week Eight. There likely will be fines for Alonso and other players who were involved in a scrum after the hit.

Alonso was given a 15-yard penalty at the time, but many observers thought the league should have done more, including an ejection and/or suspension. The NFL disagreed, and a fine is all Alonso will get.

 

^^ bad ruling there. he should get 1 or 2 games. flacco was down and alonso came flying in and hit him in the head.

 

He shouldn't even get a fine. We argued about this like a half dozen times already but Kiko couldn't really avoid it on the late slide after he was already shifting his weight for a low tackle.

 

Late slide or not, one can not get past the forearm shiver to the head. My guess is that's what he is being fined for.

 

Maybe but if it wasn't the forearm it was gonna be his helmet. It would have been tough to avoid any contact with the arm or helmet since he was trying to take Flacco out low. But on a slide you put your head in line for a low tackle. You just can't win as a defender.

 

With Judge Katherine Polk Failla denying Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott‘s motion for an injunction that would have blocked his six-game suspension through the end of the litigation, Elliott’s next move will be to take the issue to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Although the chance of success is small, there chance of success will be zero if an appeal doesn’t happen. For that reason, and per a source with knowledge of the situation, an appeal is likely.

Very interesting. Now that the Bills are winning they trade a 3rd. They traded away Darby mainly for a 3rd.

So essentially the Bills traded Ronald Darby and a 7th for Jordan Matthews and Kelvin Benjamin.
