Hope this BUST of a kicker gets dumped in the Atlantic on the way back across the pond . POS is the worst kicker in team history . already cost us one win
I've only purchased two jerseys, and still have both of them. The Greatest Running Back of all time...Jim Brown, and the ONLY two time Heisman Trophy winner...Archie Griffin. Brown's jersey is to old for me to wear anymore, so I preserved it in a frame. Archie's is still one that I wear on Buckeye game days. I will add to that a Joe Thomas jersey. He's a guaranteed Hall of Fame first rounder. Rok
They offered a second round pick in the spring, the Patriots turned them down and the Browns moved on to option #2, DeShone Kizer. Now, the Patriots got another half year of use out of Garoppolo and got the same compensation for him. Pretty simple... You might as well get used to the fact, this team believes they can make Kizer into a starter...It starts with getting him help at the top of the draft with Saquon Barkley. Barkley is our Emmitt Smith. Take a QB, suffer through his rookie season losing game after game, then draft the best offensive weapon available in the draft the following year. Whether you want to believe it or not, Barkley is every much the best rusher in this draft and maybe any of the drafts the past few years that have produced some really good backs. But on top of that, he is also a great receiving threat as well. Kizer is taking his lumps, but they are going to rise or fall riding that horse. In the end, I believe Garoppolo to be on the same level as Andy Dalton. He will help 49ers win some games, but at the end of it all, they will still be looking for a QB good enough to get them to and win them a Super Bowl...Jimmy Garoppolo is NOT that guy.
Agreed, Irish. Makes me think Brady is looking to stay a while too, or maybe Bellyache is planning to go out with Tom, and not risk his legacy. Belichek is a crafty strategist, and if he's willing to part with Garaplo, then he's expendable. I for one am glad he's not a Brown. I'm not a fan of sloppy seconds, especially from NE. We're riding the horse, and hope he's got some kiddyup.
The short answer is that the New England Patriots had two questions to answer. 1) Is Tom Brady fit to play currently and "possibly" over the next 3-4 seasons. Tom Brady has stated he is playing another 5 years at least. Answer: Yes 2) Are we going to pay a backup QB $25M to risk a trade compensation that we couldn't get this past off season? No The best offer was a 2nd round draft pick in the 2017 off season, nothing has been done to make that compensation higher. The least of which a one year contract worth $25M. That worsens the compensation, not bettering it. So, with the same offer on the table, you have two paths to take... Accept the best offer for the player and move on at the trade deadline...or, don't accept the offer and move on at the end of the season with that player going into free agency and no compensation. At the end of the day, the media made Garoppolo out to be a top ten (hell, most made him out to be better than that) talent worthy of grand compensation. Before yesterday, only three teams evaluated him as a second round talent to my knowledge..the Patriots, who took him in the second round after 29 other picks went before him in the round and 61 players overall were deemed better. The Browns who were said to have offered a 2nd round draft pick prior to the 2017 NFL draft..that may very well have been the same #52 draft pick that was used on DeShone Kizer, hence the decision to say no by the Patriots. The 49ers, who was able to execute a trade for the savior QB...If the Patriots truly believe he was a first round talent, then trading him should help the traded team to win games immediately, hence making the pick worse with every win. At the end of the day, all GMs and decision makers in the NFL have voiced their opinion (which is the same as many of us common folk), Garoppolo is a second round talent which means he has some potential, but hasn't shown any sign that it is anything more than that...potential...and not a HIGH level of potential at that...none higher than an Andy Dalton...or a DeShone Kizer...
I think the Pats probably got had to settle for less. I know you think it was a lower 2nd the Browns offered along with other picks last offseason but either way the Pats couldn't afford to keep a promising QB past his rookie deal if they are still playing Brady. They need to go and try to find another guy that can be ready towards the end of his rookie deal if Brady is done then. Jimmy was going to cost too much on the cap or they'd have little leverage before FA. It wasn't a risk worth taking hoping for a first or a 2nd and more change again. The Early 2nd from the 49ers may have been the best offer they were ever going to get going forward.
I would say yes, it definitely makes that a possibility. The Browns would probably need to make the landing spot better by acquiring at least one big name free agent at WR this off-season or Cousins will simply bail to another roster. It also could be that he would get to have some input on an offensive coordinator if Cleveland does fire Hue.
Kizer is not the answer and I dont believe they will rise or fall w him.....he hasnt shown improvement throughout the yr where they can say he is the guy
Well, I think you are wrong, but we'll see... The kid makes all the throws, he also makes some terrible decisions. Experience CAN help with the decisions, but in almost every case, the arm talent does not improve with time in QBs. He is overwhelmed as nearly everyone on these boards said he would be. That doesn't mean he cannot settle down and make better decisions. A game with 0 turnovers was a step in the right direction. He made throws that were on time. When the passes started to get dropped, he started to get flustered and that needs to change quickly. A 21 year old handles things differently than a 22 year, a 23 year old, a 27 year old, etc...Those are little things that will get better with maturity. The quick passes helped the offense move the ball in the first half along with a balanced attack in the run game. He looked like a different QB in half one vs half two. Time is what will make it more consistent...but just wishing you had a guy with his arm talent AND SMARTER won't make it a reality... Garoppolo doesn't have his arm talent, we'll see if he is smart enough to over come that now that he has a team all his own. Cousins doesn't have his arm talent, but he has already proven he is smart enough to overcome that. What Cousins hasn't proven is if he can elevate a mid level team to playoff wins. So far as the starter of the Redskins he has had a 4-12 season, a 9-7 season in which he managed to get to the playoffs anyway, and lost the first game and a 8-7-1 season. He is in his fifth year overall and they currently stand at 3-4, in third place in their division...on arguably a better roster than the Browns. So, be careful what you wish for. Mediocrity will be great for this team for one, MAYBE two years, then the screams will come out again. I want a QB with Peyton Manning's arm talent and his mind as well...I don't know if Kizer has his mind (remember Manning threw 28 INTs and won 3 games as a rookie), but I do believe Kizer has the arm talent. I am not NEARLY ready to give up on this kid at the age of 21. He is built to be a NFL QB, that in of itself is rare.
There is another example of "the process" Payton Manning as a rookie wins 3 games and throws 28 INTs...the next season they draft Edgerrin James and the rest is history. #barkleyfirstoverall
Dallas Cowboys went 1-15 with rookie Troy Aikman and second year wideout Michael Irving (who was injured most of the year, sound familiar?)....The next year they draft Emmitt Smith and begin a meteoric rise to a dynasty #barkleyfirstoverall
