I've watched the Alonso hit on Flacco again & I must say it wasn't dirty. Flacco slid late when Kiko was already committed to tackle falling forward. It would have been hard to avoid. So what if he led with his forearm? It shows he was trying to get his head from hitting first.
Looks dirty to me. In my opinion you have to know on that play its not open season on the QB. His use of the forearm was deliberate, not to keep from using his head, but to cream Flacco. He wanted to destroy him not just tackle him on a slide. I understand this is all just my interpretation and opinion, but I'm part of the side of the fence that calls that blatant and dirty and totally unnecessary.
I don’t know, when I saw it live I thought it was dirty and thought he should’ve been tossed. But after seeing multiple replays, Kiko was already committed when Flacco started to slide. Penalty, definitely and most likely a fine. I don’t think it was an ejectable hit, but I do agree he didn’t need to throw his forearm.
No way is it dirty Flacco slid late and that is why he got hit like he did. Even the forearm to the head is caused by the late slide. He slides when he should have and Kiko sails over him with no problem.
Alonso gets whatever is coming to him. The hit was late and dirty. Believe me, I'm one of the harshest critics of Flacco and his talent or lack thereof, but that hit was an attempted assassination. At the 0.05 second point of that clip, Flacco is sliding, Alonso is still upright and he should've hurdled instead of hitting downward at that point. Fine, suspension... the league could legitimately shut him down for rest of the year after that play imo.
Run full speed at a a wall and the when some with a timmer yells .05 pull up tell me how it works out.
From the 'LOL' Files; Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers says Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr gave him the finger as Rodgers left the field after breaking his collarbone on a hit from Barr. But Barr says Rodgers isn’t telling the whole story. Barr wrote on Twitter that he wasn’t even looking in Rodgers’ direction until Rodgers started shouting F-bombs at Barr. It was only then, Barr says, that he reacted to Rodgers. “After the play I go back to the huddle, don’t even look or say a word to him,” Barr wrote. “Once he gets up I’m waiting for the play call, and hear someone shouting all kinds of profanities. I look over and it’s [Rodgers] calling me all kinds of names, F you this F you that as he’s walking off the field. So naturally I responded. I don’t care if you Aaron Rodgers or Mr. Rodgers, if you say something like that you’re gonna get a response from me.” Barr concluded by saying it’s been 13 days and Rodgers needs to “get over it.”
We all know that Aaron Rodgers isn't all what he appears to be on camera, in game, interviews, radio and commercials. His family and relationships show a clearer picture of how he really is. He has issues. I wonder where he would be without the on-field success, individual and team.
John Harbaugh: Joe Flacco has zero concussion symptoms It didn’t take long for the Ravens to place quarterback Joe Flacco in the concussion protocol after he took a shot to the head from Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso while sliding to the ground in last Thursday’s 40-0 Ravens win, but it doesn’t sound like the team expects him to spend an extended period of time in it this week. Ravens coach John Harbaugh spoke to the media on Monday and provided a positive update on the quarterback’s condition. Harbaugh said that Flacco’s concussion “symptoms are zero” as the week gets underway. “I think there’s a good chance he’ll play,” Harbaugh said. The Ravens are in Tennessee to face the Titans this week. Alonso is expected to find out whether he’ll face a suspension from the league as a result of the hit on Monday.
No practice again for Andrew Luck The worst-kept secret in the NFL continues to be peddled by the Colts, primarily since there’s a chance that thousands of ticket-buying fans have yet to come to terms with the reality that quarterback Andrew Luck won’t play for the team again this year. For now, the Colts will continue to disclose the apparently reality one week at a time. On Monday, coach Chuck Pagano said that Luck will not practice again this week, his third week of no practice since two weeks of practice resulted in shoulder soreness that has yet to be resolved. Regardless of where it goes from here, it has landed in a horribly bad spot for the Colts, who continue to pay Luck millions for, so far, nothing at all in 2017. Nearly 10 months removed from surgery, it’s hard not to wonder whether this problem will extend beyond 2017 and into 2018, and beyond.
Russell Wilson is the NFC offensive player of the week Last Sunday’s game between the Texans and Seahawks was as exciting a contest as we’ve seen all season and it featured a thrilling duel between quarterbacks. Deshaun Watson struck first with a touchdown pass in the first quarter and he’d throw three more before the night was out, but Russell Wilson struck last. Trailing 38-34 with 1:39 seconds left to play, Wilson picked up 48 yards on his first throw and, following a false start, added 19 more on his second to move the Seahawks into the red zone. His next pass found an open Jimmy Graham for an 18-yard touchdown and a 41-38 win. The throw to Graham was Wilson’s fourth touchdown of the day and it accounted for the last of the 452 passing yards that Wilson put up on Sunday. Wilson also ran for 30 yards on a day when the Seahawks were officially credited with 479 yards of offense. Wilson was the engine for the entire offense, in other words, and his outing was deemed worthy of selection as the NFC offensive player of the week.
Carson Wentz is the NFC offensive player of the month The Eagles have the best record in the NFL after going undefeated in October and their quarterback’s work to get them to 7-1 has been recognized by the NFL. The league announced on Thursday that Carson Wentz has been named the NFC’s offensive player of the month for October. Wentz was 89-of-148 for 1,247 yards, 14 touchdowns and three interceptions. The 14 touchdowns are a record for an Eagles quarterback over the course of a month and Wentz only threw two more touchdowns over the course of his entire rookie season. That jump in production is exactly what the Eagles wanted to see from the second overall pick in the 2016 draft and the impact it has had on the team is impossible to miss. The Eagles have yet to score less than 20 points in a game this season and they never scored less than 26 points during their 5-0 run through October. (PFT)
It shouldn't. Brock will likely be flattened by the Eagles defense. The Bronco's defense is more of a threat to score than the offense this week.
Andrew Luck to IR, won’t play in 2017 The Colts said Andrew Luck would be ready for the start of the 2017 season, but their only hope now is that they were just off by a year on a prediction that missed the mark by a wide margin. Luck wasn’t ready for the start of the season after having surgery on his right shoulder this offseason, he wasn’t ready to play at any point in the first eight weeks of the season and he won’t be ready to play at any point in the final nine weeks. The Colts announced on Thursday that Luck is going on injured reserve, which means he won’t be practicing or playing for the rest of the season. Now that the waiting game of many months has come to an end, the quarterback told the team’s website that he’s shifting his focus to 2018 and beyond. “I wish I was better and 100 percent this season, but that’s not the case,” Luck said. “I know I’ll be better from this. I know I’ll be a better quarterback, teammate, person and player from this, and I’m excited for the future.” This development seemed inevitable when Luck’s return to practice was put to an end after a few days because the quarterback was having discomfort in his shoulder. He’s since gone to see other doctors in an ultimately futile search of an answer that might get him on the field this year. Jacoby Brissett has been starting since Week Two and will likely continue to hold down the job as long as he’s healthy. (PFT) ____________ ______________________ They sure didn't get the timeline right here... not even a little bit. Indianapolis has had a tough year and need to look to next season and start building on that.
Texans’ Deshaun Watson suffered torn ACL As reported elsewhere on this site, Watson is out for 2017 and that's a shame... for him, the Texans and the NFL. If the rehab process goes as planned without setbacks he should be good to go by the start of next season.
Stefon Diggs says Vikings’ receivers don’t worry about who their quarterback is The Vikings opened the season with Sam Bradford at quarterback, went to Case Keenum after Bradford’s Week One injury, and may go to Teddy Bridgewater if he shows in practice that he’s all the way back from last year’s injury. And the Vikings’ receivers don’t particularly care who’s throwing the ball. That’s the word from Vikings receiver Stefon Diggs, who said on PFT Live that none of the receivers spend any time thinking about who’s playing quarterback. “It’s not something we talk about or even think about in the receiver room,” Diggs said. “We’re going to support them no matter who it is, no matter what’s going on, no matter the situation, we’ve got faith in whoever they put back there. We’ve got to catch the ball anyway regardless of who’s throwing it.” Not many teams have three quarterbacks they’re confident they can win with, but the Vikings do. That’s a good position for a team to be in, and Diggs sounds happy bout it.
Vikings could wind up with a bye week. With QB problems like they have had that would be a serious accomplishment.
