Assuming that "help" means chip-blocks or line schemes to give them extra attention, makes Myles Garrett and Emmanuel Ogbah's days against Tennessee's guys (Conklin, Lewan) even more impressive. Garrett was double-teamed all day... I wonder what Lewan's number was before Week 7.

Well, we've all been preaching they should have patience and continuity instead of the usual 2 years and done method. FO and HC coming back is mentioned. Doesn't mention that there won't be changes by addition anywhere.............like getting us a freakin' OC.
This is a must. Arians stepping down in Arizona doesn't mean he can't still join up here as an OC. The biggest obstacle to this is obviously Hue Jackson and whether or not his ego will allow him to bring someone in and save the day. It also means they must at any cost acquire either Garoppolo, Cousins, or Bridgewater who can be the franchise quarterback. There cannot be a "grooming" of a rookie in 2018 - even if we had capable folks doing it. Year 3 must be a winning season.
I'd be happy with 6-10 or better and still get another fairly early to mid-round draft pick one last time to help finish stocking the cupboards.
A cautionary tale with Arians is that he has a pretty big ego. Jackson's ego is also well-documented at this point. I don't see a situation in which the two men would be able to work with each other peacefully, as each would want his plays implemented. They run similar big-play philosophies, but that's about as far as it goes. Arians will at least run the ball if that's what works. Also, unlike Jackson, Arians is at least proven as a head coach. As a Steelers fan, I don't think I'd want him back in the AFC North, but if the Browns show they can get the right offensive personnel or at least give him significant input in acquiring them, I can only envision Arians going back there (sans Jackson) as a good thing for Cleveland.
I think it calls into question the quality of Tennessee's tackles overall. They aren't the only team that's faced both Garrett and Ogbah. Ronnie Stanley is the only other tackle above 40% and his Ravens played Cleveland when Garrett was nursing his ankle sprain. The consensus from pundits is that the Titans boast one of the top tackle tandems in the league. Maybe that's why. It says a lot about Tennessee's offensive philosophy if nothing else. They only send 3 or 4 receivers out there more often than any other team in the NFL.
True. Although they definitely are a run-first or run-heavy team. Imagine that, a team with a strong offensive line and capable running backs but suspect wide receivers focus their offense around running the ball. Amazing what a capable OC can do for an offense.
Not that I give him a pass but our moneyball guy, DePodesta, has only been doing it in the NFL for just about two years now. Still kinda learning on the job how to translate it from baseball to football and refine the grading system with what works on the field. Just another piece in the patience and continuity puzzle for the Browns
Outside of calling his shot on Wentz, tough to give DePodesta much grief. In two drafts, the Browns spent six picks in the Top 100 on defense. They went from 27th in defense in 2015, to 9th in defense in 2017. In two drafts, the Browns spent five picks in the Top 100 on offense. They went from 25th in offense in 2015, to 24th in offense in 2017. Gregg Williams has only had one season to fix the defense with the players he'd be given (including only recently getting top pick Garrett back). Hue Jackson, meanwhile, has had two seasons to implement his offense and has floundered. It's tough to argue that the offense also hasn't been the beneficiary of free agency more than the defense. Yes, we lost Benjamin, Mack, and Schwartz in Year 1 and Gary Barnidge and Terrelle Pryor in Year 2 - but they added Kevin Zeitler, J.C. Tretter, Kenny Britt (good at the time), and Hue's personal pick at QB (Bob Griffin). Meanwhile, defensively they shed Dansby, Whitner, Gipson, Bademosi, Robertson in Year 1, Davis and Haden Year 2. They only really added Jason McCourty. It may be difficult for people to believe, but John DeFillipo with an atrocious roster, coke-addled Johnny Manziel and deteriorating Josh McCown was better than Hue Jackson with a bevvy of picks and free agent additions and two personal picks at QB (Griffin, Kizer).
At a minimum, Jimmy Haslam needs to wipe the slate clean for the second half of the season. Judge this coaching staff - and really just Hue Jackson - on the final eight games. Judge DeShone Kizer on these final eight alone. If you go winless but there's progress, that's one thing. If you go winless and it's more of the same - swapping QBs in a pinch, bad game-plans, etc. he must replace Hue. The front office has done their part. They have hit on more draft picks than missed. Hit on more free agents than missed. There isn't a ton out there that they left on the table. If Hue can't find a way to turn it around, replace him. If he makes some progress but still struggles, mandate he hire/promote an offensive coordinator - and if he's unwilling to do so, replace him. When it comes to Kizer, I don't know that there's anything he can really do to avoid being replaced in 2018. The Browns simply must be competitive and he's not demonstrated that. He's regressed as a starter. He would need to have 193% improvement to match Cody Kessler's passer rating in 2016, which only served to get him benched for a veteran who was not in the long-term plan and a freshly-drafted rookie who was nowhere near ready.
I have to disagree here...QB is EVERYTHING. We haven't had one in 30 years. Passing on Wentz, and then calling his shot, saying he's not a top 20 QB in this league? Pffft it's laughable, and an embarrassment to our franchise. Sorry, but that's worthy of much grief. In fact, that's worthy of the owner calling a "WTF are we doing here??" meeting....
Let me start by saying, I agree with you on everything you said...but this is a little mis-leading.. They also added: Jamie Collins and Jamar Taylor, I think I could argue that McCourty, Collins and Taylor's contributions were at the very least equal if not better than "Kevin Zeitler, J.C. Tretter, Kenny Britt (good at the time), and Hue's personal pick at QB (Bob Griffin)" Zeitler is HUGE, Tretter is a solid contributor...the rest is mush. McCourty and Collins have been big contributors and Taylor has also contributed more so, than a burden, like Britt and Griffin were. So as far as free agency is concerned, it is a wash at best, the defense may actually have an advantage in that argument. So which is it, wipe the slate clean and judge on the last 8 games, or he needs 193% improvement to match Cody Kessler's passer rating from 2016? If He goes from a sub 50 passer rating, to a high 90s passer rating over the last 8 games (not the season as a total), that is all you need to name him the future starter? What if he throws 20 TDs and 14 INTs in the last 8 games? Doesn't that show the improvement you are looking for in a rookie? Personally, I don't think it improves like that. I am hoping for 15 TDs and 10 INTs, if that happened, he is my guy of the future. Right now, I am searching for players around him to throw those 15 TDs to. For the record, in Kessler's 8 starts last season, he only threw 6 TDs to 2 INTs...so if those are the numbers Kizer gives you, are you satisfied with a second half turn around and will you be on the Kizer band wagon?
Mariota and Davis were #1 picks in '15 n '17...I highly doubt they want to run the ball....Davis hasnt been healthy and Mariota has been their starter....they mix it up and want balance...just need their pieces
Not tryin to start anything, but honestly, some of you guys are being way to easy on this front office. As Browns fans, we must demand better results than this. Someone needs to be held accountable. I'm sorry, but nobody needs a QB more than the Cleveland Browns. The fact that we've had a direct hand in getting Wentz to Philly, and Watson to Houston, is a frickin shameful embarrassment.... A QB changes everything for this franchise. Don't lose sight of that.

Jamie Collins I'll give you, but Jamar Taylor was an oft-injured disappointment in Miami who they got for a pittance. Good coaching and a fresh start had him with a solid season in 2016 and he's regressed in 2017. Actually, the Browns went from 27th in 2015 to 31st in 2016. And from 31st last season to 9th this year, so the 27th to 9th is really selling Gregg Williams short. I will eat all the crow in the world if he throws 20 touchdowns, regardless of how many interceptions. That's a projected 40 touchdowns. If he throws 10 touchdowns on the year, I'll be shocked. Cody's TD rate was 3.1%. Kizer's is 1.7%. League average was 4.3%. Cody's INT rate was 1.0%. Kizer's is 6.1%. League average was 2.3%.
