Yes, bad Pittsburgh fans telling someone to stop yelling the F word around kids. Hopefully your niece and nephew don't take your advice on higher education based on your time at a ND/Pitt game and at a bar afterwards.

 

You did read the sentence immediately after that, right, all-pgh? You know, the one where they told me to stop cursing by using several more in addition to threatening physical violence? I'm sure the little girl a few seats down got the right message out of that one.

I'm not saying I'm always a saint and a stand-up guy. You wanna tell me not to curse, I respond to a reasonable request just fine. But swearing up a storm, getting in my personal space, and threatening me?... Probably not helping the situation.

I'm not pinning it on all Pitt fans, either. I'm saying that those ones were awful representatives.

 

it was two different restaurants on two separate days. this doesn't include the drunken idiot at the stadium kid who asks me if im from indiana. i said no. he counters with "only people from indiana should cheer for Notre Dame!" brilliant.

so that's 3 incidents. when i worked in downtown Philly, i would go out all the time and see people. i never once bashed them for where they lived or who they cheered for. i was sitting quietly eating dinner when i was asked where i was from. i wasnt taunting them and i didn't wear anything from philly or notre dame while out at dinner. it's pretty obvious pittsburgh citizens don't like any outsiders coming to their town.

and my nephew proudly chose Penn State Main Campus!

If they keep this up enough then it won't matter if they start falling back down to Earth. They can get into the playoffs.

flyers got smoked last night. totally outplayed. new defensive pairing were a disaster. they couldn't cover me, they were that confused. not good.

I think I've said this before, the league needs new blood, a new vibe. Bettman has to go, I just feel he has this thing on auto-pilot now, doing nothing to create a buzz.

New ideas heading into the future, as far as marketing goes.

 

He's in cruse-control and way to comfortable, maybe?

What is it, Skinny , that you think might be good for the NHL or what kind of change would you like to see.

I'm putting you on the spot, lol, but curious as hell what you think.

 

Where do I start?

Nothing personal against the man, but, everybody's time comes to an end. He's been there since 1993, 24 years, is he trying to pull a joe paterno/don shula (commish version).

I don't think he has the tools or the drive to advance the sport further. I think he does what he has to, to keep the owners happy and maintain his $8M a year salary.

The star power in this league, the marketing available on a national scale. There's so much new technology out there to be used. The game has to be out there and presented much better.

Total lack of marketing during the playoffs. Once the two teams reach the finals, the seasons practically dead, time to go home.

If I had all the answers, I would be putting in a resume. The nhl has a big oppurtunity to push the limits, Bettman isn't the guy to do it. You need someone that's about 35-40, someone with large goals.

One day, the finals will have respectable tv ratings on a national scale, such a long way to go, so much room for growth.

 

Are they doing a good enough job marketing to kids? The NBA is killing hockey in toronto, as far as the under 21 market goes.

The other night they changed the hockey game to the raptor game halfway through. That never would've happened 20 years ago.
