It’s impossible to know how good Kessler is/can be with Hue as head coach. The only thing he’s (Hue) shown in his time here is that he cannot evaluate the position, develop it, or put it in the best possible situation to succeed. Asked to run the offense Hue Jackson demands, Cody Kessler is a marginal quarterback. Running a different type, spread, WCO, rhythm-passing with a competent play-caller, he has the skills to be a Top 10 QB in this league. Likewise, DeShone Kizer doesn’t look like the worst quarterback of the modern era if he’s playing on the Texans or Eagles squad, if he had proper development, or an adequate coach. Kizer has the physical tools to be a Top 5 QB in this league, but the coach and situation will guarantee he never makes it there. That’s a pretty straight-forward answer for someone who never really provides them himself. Until we replace Hue, we won’t be able to fully evaluate most of the offense. Production is obviously lacking across the board, but from a performance standpoint, there is a lot of talent to work with.
I apologize if somebody already mentioned this. I couldn't stand the thought of reading through the misery of the game thread. But seriously, WTF is wrong with Hue Jackson? He's the biggest choke job coach I've ever seen. The guy just doesn't know what to do in game situations. Even the simplest things, he can't get right....It's unbelievable. Early in the game. No score. Titans driving at will getting large chunks every play...How the hell does Hue not take the gift 15 yard personal foul that would have not only taken them out of easily makeable 4th and one, but also field goal range for Succop??????????? Good lord...My 13 year old could make better decisions than Hue Jackson...What a joke. This is just a travesty for the longest suffering fan base in history... Kizer? I don't think so...Glad to hear he was taking a page from Johnny Manziel's book Friday night. Hope the bar was fun, because your game sucks.
I actually ended the above post, talking directly to Kizer...lol! So yeah. I'm just at a loss. and the Browns are headin over seas for their 8th....
The Browns need to fire Hue Jackson at the BYE if no other other reason than the gauge the ability of the players brought in by the front office. Before wholesale regime change, just get a feeling for the players. Hue has shown enough to know that even with talented players, he isn't a quality coach. His presence may very well be stunting the growth of the players on the roster, so before firebombing the whole thing, at least give someone who's capable a chance to coach this team to a victory.
When your defense jumps offsides 5 times in 3rd and short situations, absolutely handing first downs to the opposition, it really screams out just how bad the coaching is on this team. That's not even High School level. That's YMCA youth league bullshit. It's just unbelievably embarrassing to wear the colors of a team that plays like that on Sundays...Disgusting. I've been saying this for way too damn long, but Browns fans deserve better...What a great time to see this team head to London. Let's show this off to the world....
The shame of it is, in spite of all the ridiculous penalties, the Browns defense really shut down the Titans all afternoon. Kizer had me fooled for a minute. I had just told my son, "Hey, Kizer looks pretty good today." And then he attempted his first pass down field.... There is no question in my mind that this entire plan was absurd from the beginning. Kizer needed to go to a team that had an established veteran that he could sit and learn from. Announcing him as starter for the season, and then backing him up with two inexperienced guys like Hogan and Kessler, was bound to be a dumpster fire...At the very least, we should have held onto McCown. He would have been a great guy to help the young QB along. Sorry. I hate to say it, but Hue Jackson is done. We have to reset....Just leave Hue on the tarmac at Heathrow after the Vikings destroy us next Sunday.
Yesterday was the 4th time we lost a game by 3 points...With competent coaching, who knows where this team could be? I know the players like Hue, but it takes more than that to be a good head coach. Hue has failed miserably. What else can be said? The Browns need to cut Kenny Britt for obvious reasons....And they should cut Ricardo Louis while they are at it. My god, that guy can NOT catch the football. It's like he's getting hit with a grenade when the ball comes in. That whole game yesterday was painful to watch. This team has talent. I don't doubt that at all. The problem is our biggest weaknesses (after Hue) are at QB and WR. So it GLARES for all to see on Sunday's... No question Cody Kessler gives us the best chance to win...Whether anyone is going to remain watching this team is highly in question....btw: great work in the overtime session by Cody and the entire offense. Two drives for minus 12 yards...That's clutch.
Oh boy SAS is gonna be mad, but its all good he's a top 10 QB in his eyes as he goes to 0-9 in his career
Team was obviously missing Joe Thomas after his injury. Dude is the best player on the team by a mile and once he left, not only was Kessler completely swarmed by the defense, but the running game couldn't do anything either.
Kessler was 10 of 19 for 120 yards, with an int...I don't know what the QBR is on those numbers, but I know it's not good. Kizer needs to sit at least until after bye week, when hopefully they regroup. Sorry Deshone, but you can't call a players only meeting on Friday, and talk about working hard, accountability and taking your job seriously, and then get spotted in a local bar at 1:30 in the morning. I know he's only 21, and he didn't break any team rules, but that's just not a good look...
