2017 Season The Good, Bad and Ugly

Discussion in 'Cleveland Browns' started by IrishDawg42, Sep 11, 2017.

  1. Now you are on the Kessler bandwagon? Cincy has won most of their games in spite of Dalton(Hue prodigy)...Watkins has been very poor w the Rams and Austin hasnt even come close to reaching #8 pick value

This is actually the best example for why not to blow up the team.

The Bengals were the definition of futility in the NFL. But they didn't change anything - to @IrishDawg42 's point, they're some of the longest-tenured in the NFL. And then went from perennial bottom feeder to playoff contender.

I'm not back. I fully intend to honor my bet. I explained my reason for making that post.

I think you found the loop hole in the rule, though.

As deplorable as it may be, just agree with @showstopper more often!

Still got 110 yards from scrimmage and leads the NFL in both rushing and total yards.

I don't disagree, what they do have is Todd Gurley, HE has been the difference in this year's offense. The receiver out of the group to emerge has been Woods. He had the least amount of pressure and is also the one with the most experience. Austin has found his niche running the ball in situational plays...Watkins, I don't believe, will ever be able to play with injuries, which have plagued him his entire short 4 year career.

Getting a verifiable RB would boost this offense to new heights, but that would require changing play calling duties as well.

AS for Kessler, you can't deny SAS his due...Kessler has looked the most capable IN GAME SITUATIONS QB on the team the past 2 years. The question is, why wouldn't you go back to him?

Jacksonville has done unintentionally what the Browns are trying to do intentionally. Jacksonville's draft position the last six years: 4, 5, 3, 3, 2, 5.

Amazingly, they even blew the first three of those (Justin Blackmon, Luke Joeckel, Blake Bortles) and are turning the corner.

Hue Jackson loathes not being able to call deep passes and it's pretty clear that Kessler has had sexual congress with most - if not all - the ladies in Hue Jackson's life.

  12. I remember someone saying that a few yrs ago...product of the system and injury prone....:D

He tore his ACL in November and was drafted 10th overall six months later.

    Good

Myles Garrett is the reason I still tune in on Sundays.

    Ugly

Failure of a coaching staff. Analytics break-down of some Week 6 action:

Browns breakdown around 33:00 minute mark.

Evan Silva: "Lot of folks slamming the Browns' front office, but these are decisions being made by the coaching staff - refusing to use David Njoku as a full-time tight end, asking the world of DeShone Kizer, not easing him in at all. They asked him to do things that Carson Palmer was doing for Hue Jackson in Oakland and Cincinnati.

These are sub-optimal decisions that are made by the coaching staff. Front office is not dictating playing time and play-calling."

Compared to Trubisky - "they're not having him throw more than 20 times per game", "they're having running backs and punters throw touchdowns", "Cleveland is doing nothing to help him (Kizer) and then sticks Hogan in there and does nothing to help him".

On defense - "they play their safeties back 25 yards from the line of scrimmage and invite teams to throw to tight ends over the middle on them".

    Sub-tweeting the Browns.

    It's. Not. The. Talent.

    Ugly

Browns released their early depth chart today. Kevin Hogan listed as the starter at quarterback.

  18. Just asking that was a great play by Garrett or terrible OL play by Houst...you can see that twist from a mile away....I guess thats why they gave up 10 sacks vs Jax

    LMAO!!

Really? The guy who beat a double-team wasn't the reason but rather that the other guys were so bad?

So let's just keep track: if a Browns player has a great play, it's a letdown by the other team or an outright accident?

Or maybe Tom Savage, who was sacked six times in 30 minutes of play, is a terrible, terrible, terrible quarterback?

Or maybe Jacksonville is a good defensive team who's leading the NFL in sacks for a reason?

  20. I didnt say if the Browns make a great play the other team messed up...on that play it was a complete blown assignment and the RG came over and made it worse by pushing Garrett into the QB....Savage is terrible, but 10 sacks..cmon
