Just to be clear, there hasn't been a #1 overall pick at DT since Dan "Big Daddy" Wilkerson went to Cincinnati in 1994. He played 13 years, appeared in zero Pro Bowls, was never voted to an AP All Pro team, won zero Super Bowls, and only got to appear in two post-season games (both in the same season).

In the past 40 years, there have only been 29 DTs taken in the Top 10. Only twice have they been taken at No. 1 overall. Average draft position is 5.5 in the Top 10 and 16.0 in the first round overall.

There is likely to be a very friendly market for Cousins this off-season and the Redskins probably did him a favor by tagging him a second straight season.

I still think San Francisco is the front runner for obvious reasons, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him pick a slightly better situation with regard to weapons and winning potential.

    Fun Fact!

Since Kessler's last start (Week 11, 2016) Browns quarterbacks (McCown, Griffin, Kizer, Hogan) have thrown 10 touchdown passes in 12 games.

Deshaun Watson has thrown 15 of them. In six.

    That's not fun.

Unless you're a Houston fan (which some of us may be shortly after jumping ship - As for myself......I'm eying that awesome Lions team as my destination.)

  5. I can get Love w my Houst pick....I dont want a QB w my #1 pick....no QB is any good in this draft....Rosen, Darnold (Kessler part 2), Jackson, Mayfield etc....I look at Barkley and I see a guy who dominates weak comp.....he already has bout 7-8 games under 70 yds in his career....Love is putting on a show every week....I havnt studied the DT position, but I cant keep committing 8 guys in the box to stop the run

    But wait! There's more...

296 days since a Browns win.

673 days since a "convincing" Browns win (more than 3 points).

736 days since a road win.

1,058 days since non-overtime road win.

1,079 days since back-to-back wins (day my daughter was born, she turns three in two weeks).

So I thought to myself... Hogan had a bad game. We know Kizer's had two with lower passer ratings this season, but the only other one that comes to mind is Brandon Weeden (and his whopping 5.1 rating). But that has to be it... right?

Browns QB's since 1999 that have had a 38.1 rating or lower in a game?

    That's happened 39 times.

    Derek Anderson - 7
    Tim Couch - 5
    Brady Quinn - 3
    DeShone Kizer - 2
    Kevin Hogan - 2
    Bruce Gradkowski - 2
    Ken Dorsey - 2
    Charlie Frye - 2
    Luke McCown - 2
    12 others - 1

You know who's never had a 38.1 or lower?

That's out of 278 games. 14.0% of the time, we've watched a Browns QB have a game like Hogan did Sunday.

It's a wonder this entire fan base doesn't have cirrhosis.

He's on pace to have over 600 yards more from scrimmage this season than last. You can't just look at his rushing totals because of how much they have changed the offensive dynamic, but if you're interested in numbers you need to break down what he has done so far this season without having the bias that you seem to do:
    • He's averaging almost a full yard per carry more this season compared to last (6.4 to 5.5)
    • At 6 games in he has one reception more than he totaled last season (29 to 28)
    • At 6 games in he has only 7 less receiving yards than he totaled last season (402 to 395)
    • At his current pace he will rush for 20 more yards than last season and receive for over 550 more
    • He's on pace for 305 touches (300 last season) averaging over a yard and a half more per (8.0 to 6.3)
Barkley is having a solid season and an argument can easily be made that he is the most talented player in this draft class. The next 3 games will be more of a quality test, but Barkley had 136 yards from scrimmage at Michigan in 2016 and 99 on 12 rushes against Ohio State. To say he cannot get it done against quality competition is simply not true. Saquon had 30 plays from scrimmage for 249 and 3 TDs in the Rose bowl a week after going for over a buck on Wisconsin.

And if you don't go out and get a quality veteran to immediately step in and make an impact you will continue to watch this offense do nothing on Sundays. I watch every season as people rip the incoming quarterbacks and call them worthless or average yet they continue to change the fortunes for franchises. They're not all 'can't miss' but they're not all 'bust' either.

    Please don't.

Jared Goff, Jameis Winston, Andrew Luck, Cam Newton, Sam Bradford, Matthew Stafford, JaMarcus Russell, Alex Smith, Eli Manning, Carson Palmer, David Carr, Michael Vick*, Tim Couch... none of them were the best overall player in their drafts either but that didn't stop them from going No. 1 overall.

Such is the nature of the position.

*Michael Vick might have been - dude was the definition of once-in-a-lifetime

Christian McCaffrey put up 3,616 rushing yards (4,577 from scrimmage) and 29 TDs in two years in that same offense.

"I haven't studied the DT position, but I'm going to take one first overall."

  16. You said it correctly....now he starts to face the real comp.....Im not saying hes a terrible player, but #1 pick is a stretch...also he only had 84 vs Wisky

  17. Yes sir...As I stated I cant keep having 8 in the box to stop the run

  18. Winston and Luck were locks at #1 and there was no controversy
