@dlinebass5 I see you posting, but don't see the content because of the ignore feature (great item!). So just in case...
I will say it again....ALL 32 GMs and coaches are taking Brady, Rodgers and Brees over Smith....I never said for how many yrs I was talking in the present
Oh, man. You've reached the top of Little Bitch Mountain. I'm super proud of you. God forbid you try to have a legitimate discussion with anyone. Refer back to my earlier post about you plastering other people's numbers up and then shouting at anyone who might disagree with you. It is now all the more applicable. While SAS's childishness knows no bounds, I'll continue to challenge his outrageous claims and assumptions based on subjective and suspect numbers, if only so that others reading here don't have to read that garbage without contest. I appreciate the people here who can have real, substantive conversations like adults. Also, SAS... if you're going to ignore me, ignore me. Noticing that I'm posting and getting huffy about it like a jilted ex isn't a good look on you.
Good Good weekend. Had a birthday part for my little girl on Sunday. It was a beautiful day, all the kids had a great time, family and friends came out and enjoyed pizza, cake, and good company. Also had a birthday party for one of our daughter's friends and did the same thing - two parties in one day! Myles F**king. Garrett. The only reason I'm not completely throwing in the towel on this dumpster fire of a franchise and switching allegiances to the Packers is because this guy is special. Bad Basically, everything else. What a mess. Wrecked 33-17 (really, 33-3) in a "never-was-it-close" contest with a team who started their franchise a year after we did. Hey, at least we have their first two picks in the upcoming draft. Ugly State of the franchise. Sure, 1-21 will cause rumors and reports like this, but we're not even two years through the five year plan. What "qualified football executives" have been huge successes here? We've brought so many in and the other half in the League already worked for the Browns at some point. Shizer Hue Jackson. What a bum. What a complete bum. 1-21 as a coach. One of the most penalized teams in the NFL. A complete rotation door at the quarterback position - his most qualified position to evaluate and teach. A new text-gate scandal with another team's quarterback. What's left? Does he have any credibility with the fans, front office, or - most worrisome - his team? Clueless Hue won't be around in 2018 - the only question left is when he gets relieved of duty... BYE week, last few games, or in the offseason.
The Good: I was at my son's soccer tournament and didn't get to watch the game. Checking stats and the game out on my phone. Gave up by halftime. Went home and deleted recorded game. The Bad: 11 Freakin' penalties!!!!!!!!! The Ugly: Same stuff, different week. Hogan 20/34 for only 140yds AND 3 INT's. That's only 7 damn yds/catch. Didn't see the game but that is one unimaginative offensive game plan with only 7yds/catch (and what's that say about any YAC).
The problem was every throw over 10 yards, he sailed the ball 8 feet over their heads. When he didn't sail them, they picked him off. I didn't see any upgrade to Kizer yesterday.. SAS may be right, they may need to re-insert Kessler and see if the dink and dunk game will work better with a revamped o-line. I'm afraid that Haslem is growing weary of the losses piling up and the "plan" will get scrapped once again. I'm sorry, but that scares the crap out of me more than the thought of another 1 win season. These kids, and I mean kids, need to grow into a team together. If the regime is changed over, most of those kids go with it, because a new regime never wants to rely on the lasts guys roster. The only survivors that I see are Joe Thomas and Myles Garrett. Everyone else would be fair game and most likely cast aside for what ever "plan" the new guys had...most likely involving over priced, over aged free agents...
I felt bad for DeShone Kizer having to watch that game, tbh. He's supposed to take a step back to 'learn', right? How does watching someone play worse than he was help him do that? "Hey DeShone... see that intentional grounding on third down from your end zone? Don't do that." Kevin Hogan is who we thought he was - I think we can safely retire that experiment. The only option on the roster if we want (1) to compete and (2) to allow DeShone time to learn is Cody. Agreed. Blowing it up now makes it only worse (hard to believe it can get there). I believe they can still change the direction without a full-scale blow up. And it all has to come back to availability. Don't make changes just for the sake of making changes or out of frustration with the performance thus far. You want a "qualified football person" in the front office? Okay... who's it going to be? The only one - in my mind - who's available and qualified is Scot Mccloughan. You want a new head coach? Okay... who's it going to be? I honestly can't think of one available - or soon to be available - who's a major upgrade over Hue. Offensive coordinator seems to be the most likely place to start and one that could - potentially - have immediate impacts.
How can you guys keep saying dont blow it up....this team is 1-21 over their last 22 games.....if its not coaching then it has to be the talent....come Nov and Dec there will be 25K down there and you expect the owner to accept that...heads should have already been rolling cause this team is not improving....Irish, cmon w that sorry excuse these are kids....they are making more $ than all of us combined on here and you want us to baby them....there are plenty of young players in this league making impact plays to win games
Actually, I'm doing pretty well for myself. Have you seen my armchair? Availability. You're the 2013 version of Jimmy Haslam who blows everything up because it's ugly then whiffs on the first 11 coaching candidates and 7 GM candidates and ends up with Mike Pettine and Ray Farmer.
Except for the laptop, which would be a huge upgrade over what I was working with, that was my office in 2007, lol.
I realize its not yet Black Friday but I don't think Stopper will object because I'm going to agree with him. Here is a list (in ascending order) of the seven youngest rosters in the NFL as of the 53 man roster cut down day; Browns (24.24) Rams (25.19) Anyone think we could beat them? Bengals (25.48) Already lost to them. Texans (25.53) Already lost to them. Colts (25.60) Already lost to them. Jets (25.62) Already lost to them. Jags (25.64) Anyone think we could beat them? So, of the 6 losses so far this year, 4 of them have been to teams who have rosters within 1.38 average years of age of the Browns. Enough with the young roster bullshit!
DING DING DING!! I think it is obvious Hue needs to make a move here. It's either that or start looking for another team that needs one and will overlook his fail here in Cleveland.
Name me another team that has the MAJORITY of their starters on BOTH SIDES of the ball with less than 2 years experience... Hell, I'll make it easier than that on you, show me a team in the NFL with two "impact players" on both sides of the football with less than two years of experience...Show that and I will show you a team with veterans surrounding those players to help them achieve that impact. Are you at the very least able to admit Myles Garrett is already impacting this team? I would say Duke Johnson is an impact player, who gets very little chance to impact the game. David Njoku has 3 TDs in 6 games, the problem is he is in the offense less than half the snaps. He has never been targeted more than 5 times in a game. Defense, Garrett is definitely going to be one, if he isn't already. Derrick Kindred grades out as one of the best safeties in the NFL only 22 games into his career...and I'm still not sure Peppers wouldn't be better than him if he were asked to do what Kindred does. Getting rid of Peppers because he is playing out of position is one of the less educated things I have heard you write... This team needs: receivers on offense and a true free safety on defense. Those are glaring needs on this team.
First, welcome back. Second, just to play devil's advocate: 1. 0-6 2. 4-2 (first place in division) 3. 2-3 4. 3-3 (tied-first place in division) 5. 2-3 6. 3-3 7. 3-3 (tied-first place in division) The next six youngest teams are a combined 17-17 and yet the Browns are 0-6. That difference between 1 and 2 is about a year (346 days). Looking at this franchise today, do you believe that we're going to be a .500 team this time next year? I am struggling to find it, but how young were the Seahawks when they won the Super Bowl? It was the youngest team ever to do so and I think it was somewhere in the 25's.
Lyman, you do realize 1.38 years average age is a full season and a half of experience, right? So judge this roster in year 2019 instead of 2017, is that what you are suggesting? AS for your question: 2. Rams, they have a starting QB in year 2 and a STUD RB. 3. Bengals are the longest tenured front office in the AFC North with a QB that has started 98 out of a possible 101 games. I would make a monetary wager with you that this current Browns roster, if given two more years to mature and KESSLER as the starting QB every week for the next 2 seasons, would get to the level that the Bengals are and beyond. 4. Titans enjoy a QB in year 3 of his career, (2) very talented RBs..We don't have a QB on the roster in year 3 of his career, and Crowell is our bell cow 5. Colts...Again, the systems in place in Indy go back 5 years, not 1 year and 6 games 6. Jets, I honestly cannot explain the anomaly that is the New York Jets...gotta give them a lot of credit, they damn near beat the Patriots 7. Jaguars, I don't think we would beat them if I'm being honest, but even they are in their 3rd year. It's Marrone's first as the HC, but he has been in the system since 2015. They have a bad QB, but he has 3+ years of starting for the same team under his belt...and once again, they have one of the best RBs to come out of college in years. So, it circles back to my thought process all along... A) Consistency in the front office...even a BAD front office will make you more competitive than changing it every two years. B) Let your players gain needed experience...again, even an average QB will be better after 3 seasons than a good one 3 games in to his career. C) Get a stud RB that can take pressure off of EVERYONE on the offense. Saquon Barkley is our version of Todd Gurley, Leonared Fournette, DeMarco Murray/Derrick Henry combo. I might add the Rams, Bengals, Colts also have the following for WRs: Rams, Austin (1st round 8th overall), Sammy Watkins (1st round 4th overall) and Robert Woods (2nd round 41 overall) Bengals, AJ Green (1st round 4th overall) one of the top receivers to come out in years, Tyler Boyd (2nd round ) and just added another first rounder in John Ross Colts have TY Hilton who has become one of the premier WRs in the NFL, but he also has had the luxury of having Andrew Luck as his QB since day 1 and working with him for 5+ years This isn't rocket science, it is the laws of averages. The more experience ANYONE acquires will make them better at their job, even a bad employee. The bad employees learn how to do a job at least adequately enough to keep it, but the ones that are just hired have no idea how to even begin. Until they learn at least the basics, they will fail 99% of the time.
