I agree with this, but he is also having trouble diagnosing pre-snap and I think that's another one of the reasons why he is hanging onto the ball so damn long. Having the ability to rifle the ball should be making up for some of the issues in his progression time but the target needs to be almost stationary for him to consistently hit it with a better than average degree of accuracy.

Another thing that perplexes me is his want to throw deep to the right when he has the match up he (or Hue) wants but it just isn't one of his stronger throws. He has more consistency throwing it over the white line than he does leading the ball to a spot where the receiver can fight for it.

I think there is a rift between what the coach believes Kizer's strengths to be and what they actually are, or else Jackson may be one of these coaches that constantly over analyzes instead of just hammering the hell out of whatever is working.

That's fair. Deshaun (and Wentz) have made more plays in their time than Kizer did in his. Part of it definitely is roster. I use both teams of examples of what the Browns should have done - build a team then trade for your QB.

Let's also be clear - both teams are managed by better head coaches at the moment. Not to say Hue can't get better, too, but neither Todd Peterson or Bill O'Brien wanted to start their rookie QB's.

An injury and trade made Wentz the starter in Philly. He got an uber-soft schedule to start with and the coaches dumbed the playbook down tremendously to help him. At one point in his rookie season he went 2-9 and tossed 13 INTs.

O'Brien didn't want to start Watson either but had to because Tom Savage SUUUUUCKS. And in Houston, they are using Deshaun's mobility more and giving him a condensed playbook (at one point in a successful drive against the Chiefs they called the same play five times consecutively with a wrinkle once).

Hue Jackson (1) named DeShone the starter in the preseason, (2) cut the only "veteran" on the team (Osweiler), (3) gave DeShone the entire playbook to digest, (4) refused/refuses to run the football to set up his QB for success, and (5) calls an obscene amount of vertical routes.

On the running game - Deshaun Watson is getting 30+ carries per game out of his running backs. As a rookie, Wentz got an average of 28 per game out of his. Hue Jackson has called 16 per game.

What choice did Hue have? DON'T SAY KESSLER...Our front office knew Kizer would get the job, and they set this whole thing up so even if Kizer struggled a bit, it wouldn't amount to too much pressure on the organization from disgruntled fans. Who else do we got, right??..Problem is, Kizer has been SO UNBELIEVABLY BAD, that we are forced to turn to a "nobody" anyway...No offense to Hogan, but he's a nobody at this level...

And that's where we are at....Always on the outside looking in at the capable teams.

Whew... I’m glad @Lyman isn’t around to hear you besmirch his QB like that.

  5. Unfortunately good old stopper was right again....Tito stinks and Kluber wasnt himself heading into the playoffs..smh

    Q. Tito, you mentioned a couple days ago that maybe he might have been fighting his back. Do you think that played any role?

TERRY FRANCONA: You know what? I think he's fighting a lot, and I think you also have to respect the fact that guy wants to go out there and he's our horse. And sometimes it doesn't work.

    Okay, I promise I won't say it.

    Hue's choice:

I don't know that we can just assume that. It will be interesting to see what leaks out over time regarding the pick, though.

Just like in 2016, Hue gave a passionate defense of the Kessler pick, said he was "his guy", cast him aside after a few games (noticing a pattern here?) and then it's revealed that analytics was behind the choice.

Likewise, in 2017, the thought process was the F/O threw Hue a bone and got a guy who he really wanted. I posted this waaay back, but the analytics say to say the hell away from Kizer. The major analytical sticking point was HS & college win record, which Kizer was very poor at. His profile matched that of quarterbacks who were completely out of the league after four seasons. He was nowhere near the profile of a starter, let alone Pro Bowler.

We'll see, especially if there's pressure applied from the Haslams as the season wears on who gets the 'blame' for the Kizer pick.

I'd agree with that. It's definitely not as glaring an issue - I think - as reading the defense live, but it's a concern. In the Indianapolis game, he diagnosed a defensive package and audibled into what ended up being a terrific 19-yard swing pass to Duke Johnson.

In the New York game, he diagnosed a defensive package and audibled into the option-pitch from the four yard line (which was a bad call to begin with), mishandled the pitch, and led to a turnover in the red zone.

So at least pre-snap, I've seen some good to go with the bad. Being 100% honest, I haven't seen a single positive from him reading a defense live post-snap.

He, like so many other young QBs who struggle, cannot throw a receiver open and clearly has never operated in a timing offense. He refuses to throw the football until the receiver is open (evidenced by a 3.02s time-to-release). At that point, he's trusting in his natural arm ability to deliver the football but he's doing so without a proper base or stepping into the throw in a lot of cases, leading to erratic passes and off-target balls.

There's a ton of ire cast at the wide receivers, which some is deserved, but if Kizer were throwing with anticipation, even our pedestrian receivers would be looking better because they wouldn't have to 'uncover' from the secondary before becoming a target.

For a purportedly cannon arm and playing in a vertical-friendly defense, he's surprisingly bad at throwing to the boundary. Now, with a 50.9% completion percentage, he's surprisingly bad throwing everywhere, technically, but on the boundary specifically, he's 11 of 37 (29.7%) with 1 TD and 1 INT.

There's a lot of issues with Clueless Hue at the moment.

Delusional as always: I'm thinking we win this weekend.

Pause, while everyone gets back up off the floor.

Hey with Garrett and Collins back on the field, and Kizer not, we might actually be able to pull one off.

If Garrett & co. can put the heat on Watson, and Hogan's heroes don't turn the ball over, I think this is a close game. Gonzalez better improve his kicking or we'll be on the losing end though.

Anybody else want a pair of orange colored glasses. I got enough for everyone. Cheers

Corey Kluber named AL pitcher of the month for September
CLEVELAND – Have we heard this before: Corey Kluber has been named AL pitcher of the month?

Actually, we have. Twice. And now it’s three times.

On Monday, the Cleveland Indians Corey Kluber was named AL pitcher of the month for September. That is the third time this season that Kluber has gotten the honor. Kluber was also named pitcher of the month in June and August. According to the Tribe, that’s the most since the Astros’ Dallas Keuchel in 2015. He is the only current Major League pitcher to earn the award three times!

In six September starts, Kluber registered a 5-0 record with a 0.84 ERA and an impressive 50:3 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

SUCK IT STOPPER!!!! You don't know WTF you are talking about.

    It's because you troll...
lol! You're right about the idiot and punk part. But gimme a break, Nostradamus. Am I supposed to believe you saw something that no major league hitter saw throughout his back to back "Pitcher of The Month" honors in August and September??? Six September starts and he was undefeated with a 0.84 ERA! But you knew something was wrong...Sure. smh.

This garbage is exactly why Lym wanted a break, and I don't blame him...I'm surprised they allow you to even post here. All you do is annoy...Doug was right. I should just ignore.
