Trubisky

I need to be more apathetic. I swear to Christ I am going to kill myself watching this team.

I think blang had it right. Stop watching until Trubisky. But no, I'll be here fucking Monday, watching the goddamn Vikings play us to some kind of draw, just enough for Fox to say some stupid shit about being competitive or heading in the right direction. And Glennon will be starting. That seems to be the plan, get their "money's worth" out of Glennon so Trubs can be the motherfucking clipboard holder learning things like "hey, that's how you throw an int eh? So I shouldn't fumble, right? 5 yard passes are useful? If I throw downfield it will just get intercepted? I should definitely throw it PAST the sticks for a 1st down, got it". FUCK GLENNON, you stupid motherfucker.

FUCK THIS ENTIRE TEAM. This is the goddamn Chicago Bears, not the fucking Cleveland Browns. Or maybe the goddamn Ford family took over at some point?

How did we beat the Steelers, with the shitshow that went on there? I mean really, we did everything possible to give them the game, but they just didn't want it. So now we have a good shot at 1-15 with Mike "Jesus" Glennon leading this glorious team down the field. The WRs should be bagging groceries somewhere. Jordy Nelson standing alone in the endzone, yeah, whatever, we're down 3 TDs, give the fuck up. Wave the flag.

I could almost exactly predict the score. And yet, I'm still pissed. That must be god's way of punishing me for being a cursed Bears fan. Sell the team McKaskey's. With our luck the new owners will fucking move it to Milwaukee or some stupid shit and build a winner.

Oh but hey, maybe another top 10 pick! We can pick another fucking WR!! Trade down too, pick up another pick we can spent on a no talent safety that wouldn't start on the 49ers. That will make our descent into mid 00's level Lions complete.

I can only imagine what it will be like Monday night , again out there for anyone who cares to watch what the fans will do after Glennon's first pick of the night. I don't think a HC or FO should ever make a change just for the fans , but let's look at what has happened over the last few years ... Cutler finally got let go now they shove Glennon across that table and he's even worse ...WHAT GAME TAPE ARE THEY WATCHING ????????????????????????

Has Fox said at all today that Glennon is our QB next week ?

It requires an enormous amount of self-restraint to avoid watching a Bears game. It goes against every instinct in my body to not watch them. Sunday I left the house after 1pm to avoid the temptation of tuning in. Last night was hard but somehow managed, even though people were messaging me about the game. But if I can do it, anyone can. And we all should if Glennon is still starting next Monday night.

I work nights starting at 2:00am so these games take a toll on me. I tried to sleep in the afternoon but the thought of the game kept running through my mind and couldn't sleep so I got back up. I suffered through the Packers first drive, but when Noodle Neck lost the ball on the strip sack I turned my back to the TV and let the game watch me. WTF was I thinking?

Alcohol is required. It's always fun to come back to a post you barely remember writing.

I expected this team to be bad, and they're living up to that expectation. But I also expected improvement. An ass whooping on TNF against the hated cheesedicks is the arrow pointed straight fucking down. That's two blowouts in only 4 games this year.

However, every single news report is how Trubsiky should start, or how people don't know what the hell Fox is thinking, so it makes me think there's enough pressure that they will put him in. And really, as long as it doesn't stunt his growth, I am all for it.

BWW made a great point in the other thread though, this team gave up in the 4th quarter (shit maybe earlier). They started running out the clock and just wanted to get it over with. Reminded me of Trestman games, and that was a pretty dark time. I though Fox was supposed to at least prevent these guys from giving up? Fox's record is WORSE than Trestman's. Wanny had a better record. How much rope does Fox get?

I wish I could be apathetic. Logically I know these guys suck. But damn it, I am a Bears fan. I've got this sinking feeling that like some other Chicago teams, we won't see real change until ownership changes.

I was about as apathetic as I have ever been.

I was more pissed that I was watching them play than I was that they were losing.

This is a bad team - with some hope that we are scraping bottom of the barrel and maybe on way back up.

The future of this team, good or bad is Trubisky.

Tonight should put to rest some of the mystery surrounding Trubisky. If he comes out maybe we have a chance ... if not, I don't think anyone here will be surprised.

So what are your thoughts on Trubisky now?

Do you think the game could have been won if the refs had been better?

I saw much potential in Trubisky. Pretty poised considering he was making his debut against a division rival, and on national TV to boot.

A much better option than the last 2 dozen QBs that's for sure with a shit load of athleticism. Looks like a future winner to me, now if they can only surround him with some more talent.

    Well done young man.

He has a ton of potential. And the fact that he walked in the locker room and faced the entire team and took the blame for the loss....it says a lot to me about the guy.

Early in the game, the Vikings came with an overload blitz to the blind side, and a man ran free between the T and G (if I remember right). Trubisky rolled out, tried to make something happen, and threw an incompletion. As they came back to the huddle, he was pointing at his chest, talking to his teammates, intimating that that was on him. When was the last time we saw that from a Bears QB? When was the last time they took responsibility/on-field charge like that? Good for the kid, man.

I hope that the Powers That Be give Trub a chance to realize and prove his potential. Just having him on the team isn't enough. He needs full support from the coaching staff as well. He needs to keep playing to get into his groove.

Tanner Gentry has been promoted to the active roster and Deonte Thompson has been (thankfully) cut. I guess Fox got tired of him taking kicks out of the end zone and running directly into the first defender in coverage nearly every single time. Marcus Wheaton should be next on the chopping block, in fact I probably would have cut him before cutting Thompson as Thompson showed more as a receiver than Wheaton has.

Gentry and McBride could end up being the two most productive receivers at year's end. Wright, McBride, and Gentry should be top 3 in depth chart.

He throws on the run - with accuracy - like someone we hate.

He has escapability like someone we hate.

He can scramble and run for a first down like someone we hate.

He owns up to mistakes unlike someone we used to hate.

    I like him already.

You might be right, unfortunately Wheaton is going nowhere until at least the offseason. They can cut him then with very little CAP penalty, however he's got all $6mil of his gauranteed money coming this season so if they did cut him now, they'd be paying him the same money just to sit at home. With a WR corps as bad as ours i guess you can't do that.

Of course thats prob not even the main point. The main point is how it would look. 2017 is shaping up to be an epically bad FA class for Pace. ALL of his first day signings are turning out to be complete busts. Glennon, Sims, Demps & Wheaton, thats just under $40mil in gauranteed money right there, and all of them could feasibly be gone before next season.

Of his second wave signings.... Cooper is an idiot. Prince has been solid, but i don't see any INT's to his name which isn't much for $7mil. And Wright is doing fine for the money he cost, but if you don't have a #1 or #2 WR then adding a #3 isn't gonna make a whole lot of difference.

Basically its a trainwreck. The only thing that could make it look worse would be cutting one of his first day signings halfway into the season which is like throwing yourself at the mercy of the court. And even Pace isn't that dumb.

Cant find much to disagree with here......

This FA class could have been better, and agreed that Prince A. is competent, albeit not what I want from a starting CB. Turnovers have to come with it, and its just baffling. It seems that the bears' defenders dont go for a strip. Ever. Turnovers win the battle. The Vikings are good because of their turnover differential. Teams went from the outhouse to the penthouse because of turnover differential. Good teams force more turnovers than they commit.

I'll cut Pace a sliver of slack in the sense that some higher profile FAs weren't coming here, and it was reported Pace opened up the wallet for them--namely Bouye and Gilmore.

Gilmore--the guy Rob thinks isn't that good for his money would have been better off here, but its hard losing him to the defending champs. The Pats cant get to the QB, and I remain baffled on why they didn't think Chandler Jones was worth keeping around. He was, and its rare to see a Belichick/NE front office fuck up like that. Ninkovich abruptly retiring didn't help.

Never fear, they have Shame. Cant think of another reason why they're giving up the 447 yards per game to opposing offenses.

And the bears--albeit need some improvement at 5 tech opposite Hicks and Edge--but their defense is competent. Turnovers make this team and record better. Start scouting ballhawks. And WRs. I'm fine if there are 3-5 new faces at the WR position next year. In fact I want that. Bellamy, Thompson, and the rest of the gang doing their best "smurf" impressions like a decade ago cant hit the road.

You're right. Now i've not given up on Fangio like some, but you only have to watch them play to see that fundamentally there is a difference in attitude. Lovie's players would converge and be all around the ball almost every play. They were constantly looking to force the ball out. Apart from an individual effort now and then you never see it with this D. There is no coordinated approach or collective mindset to say ok we're gonna fight that ball free and make a turnover. Turnovers are hugely undervalued on this team from the DC to the HC to the GM.

Absolutely. Of course i wouldn't complain at the Bears signing one of those guys, especially with all the CAP room they have. But honestly, its not the guys like that which gets me so annoyed with Pace, partly for the reasons you mention. Its the tier below which pisses me off.

Just because you don't sign the two most expensive CB's in FA, doesn't mean you then have to go for bargain basement POS players like Alan Ball!

I said this at the time in both cases so this isn't smart ass hindsight.... Pace has made 2 huge oversights the last 2 FA's and both came from right under his nose in our own division. Casey Hayward and Micah Hyde would've both been really nice additions that elevated the talent and production of our secondary.

Hayward was a steal at a 3year-15mil contract who went and made the pro bowl the very next season. Hyde wasn't exactly a steal, but a 5year 30mil deal for him isn't overpriced either. Hayward had 20 PD's and 7 INT's last season. Hyde has 5PD's and 4 INT's in 5 games this season!! Remind me again how our Defense is doing re INT's this year?

Two huge opportunities for Pace. Both bringing a ton of upside(particularly Hyde), neither posing a big risk financially. Either one bringing the added bonus of current inside info on your biggest rival's defensive scheme and philosophy. Both of them now oversights by Pace because he is shit at improving his roster through free agency.

Clean house. Fire the entire staff. What the fuck are we holding onto with Fangio? Think about it.

What has he done besides lead the league in not getting turnovers?

I guess you could say we’re built for a 3-4, but are we? Inside LB’s hurt (again), pass rushing OLB’s are hurt and/or not producing.

What do we really have? Hicks and Goldman are the only down lineman worth anything.

Those two would be amazing next to each other in a 4-3. But that’s besides the point.

There is nothing to build around. And it sucks.

Back end? Joke. I stand by my man #39 but the rest of the secondary is a joke.

Whatever Fuller had left, he crapped it out on the field for all to see last time out.

End rant. I’m loaded. Good night - hope I made some semblance of sense
