I take it back .I take it all back . what I said in August after the last pre season game .I said that it would be fun to watch these babay Browns grow up this season . it hasn't been fun .its been painful and excruciating at times . I know were not built to win this season but Hue and his game plans have me scratching my head . he needs to turn the OC over to Saunders let him put the game plan together . who the hell runs a option play on the goaline ? . this is the NFL not some HS league . even if the Crow catches the pitch he is toast . they spent major $$$$ on the O Line . so far they haven't jelled yet . and cut that bust of a kicker . he isn't even close on his FG attempts . wait till the weather turns and the winds whip off the lake he will have the ball somewhere in the stands . what a mess ..AGAIN !
So far from what I have seen is Mason Rudolf at Oklahoma ST has looked the best . Darnold has struggled . Josh Rosen at UCLA has looked pretty good so far . it sucks that in early Rocktober were talking draft already
And we've seemingly abandoned any talk of who they might beat for their one and only win this season. (sigh)
Actually, that wasn't the called play. DeBust Shizer audibled out of the play and into that option. Then missed the pitch. Fifth redzone turnover on the season (in five games). No other QB has more than 1.
I think with an average QB, this team would be fun to watch, and we'd win a few games. A really good QB, and this team could have a completely different outlook. Yesterday Carson Wentz destroyed a good Arizona defense with 300+ and 4 TD's....And Deshon Watson looks like the next SUPERSTAR coming off back to back 5 TD performances.... Hopefully Sashi will actually take one this year. Lets cross our fingers. You can't tell me this FO hasn't held us back just a bit by "not" pulling the trigger. The fact that Corey Coleman can't get on the field and Carson Wentz continues to ascend makes me sick. The fact that Sashi Brown actually told the world that he didn't see Wentz as a top 20 player in that draft, makes me really wonder if these guys know what they are doing...We are the most QB starved team in the NFL's history, and we've literally had a hand in helping TWO other NFL teams get their franchise QB in consecutive years, while we've settled for Kizer and Kessler. Smh....That's tough to take. We need a "FOOTBALL GUY" in that front office...

God, am I glad I didn't spring for the NFL ticket! Part of me wants to see the games. I am a long time fan / patient, of the Cleveland Clinic, but after I hear the score, and check the posts, I am grateful, cause I already have high blood pressure. Some years back I would get to see a few games, and our dog would freak out at my ranting, and cursing, so maybe it's just as well. Competent! That's all I think is required from the QB position right now. It would allow the rest of the team to develope, and maybe even chalk up a win or two. I believe there is talent on this roster, and Hue is not capitalizing on it, due to his mistaken commitment to Kizer. That's not the whole ball of wax, but most all of our woes, seem to stem from it. Naming an OC would allow him to seperate himself a little from that foolish commitment, and maybe "see" what's right with this team. He is prejudiced towards Kizer whether he can admit that to himself or not, and it's impacting everything. Here's a thought. Hogan has somehow miraculously become competent, by "not starting" for a couple of years. Maybe that same approach would help Kizer. At the very least it would give the team a chance to compete, while he practices with training wheels, and if he's not the guy, then we needn't let him destroy the team as a whole, while we find that out. I am with Duff, here. Hire/promote and OC, and let him make decisions on plays, players. I think this is a spot for Haslam to have an immediate and positive impact on the team. Let Hue learn to be a HC, by relieving him of the play by play, and focus on the larger picture, like special teams. defensive strategy, through more interaction with his staff, and less player responsibility. Time to step up the HC job, and leave the nuts and bolts to the guys you brought in to do it, or start looking for an OC job yourself.
Well written. Absolutely. Browns fans just deserve better and Hogan is it....I heard on the radio today that he actually leads the NFL in completion percentage at like 84%. Case closed. If Hue says we gotta go back to Kizer, than Hue should be relieved of duties...
Why would it be so bad to let Kizer sit? Some people act as if he would shatter like glass. If that's really the case, he doesn't have it anyway...It should be as obvious to Kizer as it is to everyone else. This team is better off right now with Kevin Hogan taking the snaps. That's the bottom line. When I was very young, Roger Staubach was benched on the regular by Tom Landry, in favor of Craig Morton...Things worked out okay for Roger. Not saying Kizer is that, but being a QB requires mental toughness. Obviously it's a different game today, but the point holds true...You gotta be able to handle some adversity. Kizer deserves to be benched. He knows it. Everyone does. He's not ready...
The worst manager in the playoffs every yr....blows a 3-1 lead and now a 2-0 lead in B2B yrs cause he manages like he has a 15 man roster instead of 25 man roster...every pitcher is dead at this time of yr and he pitches guys on short rest...oh well
Here’s the problem - long term - is that the Browns have probably 2-3 wins left this season, barring some miracle turnaround. That should be good enough for a Top 3 (maybe No. 1 overall) pick. Kizer literally is the worst rookie starter in NFL history. He’d need Herculean improvement for multiple seasons before being fit for the NFL. Not only does this team not have that luxury, but there’s also almost no chance they pass up a QB in 2018 because they have Kizer on the roster.
Okay... so No. 2 overall? It's not like there's never been a QB taken at No. 1 and No. 2 in the same draft, bud.
Statistically, he's one of the worst QBs of all time. He's the worst rookie QB of the modern era. He's the worst Browns QB of all time. Wherein does anything think, "yeah... the light will come on at some point". Things I never want to hear again regarding QB's: Cannon arm/arm talent/strong arm AFC North QB build/prototypical QB build Six-four "He played in a pro-style offense in college" Things I want in my next franchise QB: Is he accurate with the football? Can he ball? Is he a raging coke fiend? (Thanks, Johnny) If those answers are "yes", "yes", and "no" then we've got our man.
Technically, you can't have a "next franchise QB" unless you've had one in the past 20 years, or so. #pickingnits
This actually brings up a good discussion - not sure which thread is appropriate for it. They've actually brought this up a couple times on Cleveland sports radio too, but... What does this team look for in a potential franchise QB? #PFQB Of the QB's they've drafted, they could not be more dissimilar. In 2016, the took Cody Kessler in the third round. He started 41 games, was one of the most productive and accurate passers in NCAA history. Was an above-average athlete with average-to-below-average arm strength. Measured 6'1" on the nose. Played in a pro-style offense under center and threw 88 touchdowns (7.0%) to 19 interception (1.5%) in his collegiate career. In 2017, they seemingly gave up on the guy they said had "everything" you wanted in a franchise QB and drafted DeShone Kizer. A guy who started 21 games in college, including being benched multiple times. His accuracy was always an issue (Hue's key metric in evaluating a QB, allegedly). Was an above-average athlete with incredible arm strength. Measured an imposing 6'4". Played in a semi-pro-style offense out of the shotgun and threw 47 touchdowns (6.8%) to 19 (2.7%) interceptions in his collegiate career. In what bizarre world were these two biographies and bodies of work run through the same process and determined to be both: (1) draftable, and (2) a future franchise QB of the same franchise? And in what state of intoxication does one have to be to believe that they'll get it right in 2018 when they're back at the drawing board? #Trade4TeddyBridgeH2O
#10 in your programs but #1 in your hearts... Quinn: 3-9 as a starter, 52.1% completions, 5.4 YPA, 10 TDs (2.8%) 9 INTs (2.5%), QB rating of 66.8 Kizer: 0-5 as a starter, 50.9% completions, 5.4 YPA, 3 TDs (1.9%), 9 INTs (5.7%), QB rating of 49.5 How about we never take a QB from Notre Dame again?
