Cause those scores are pretty misleading...they were down 17 vs Indy, 11 vs Pitt and 10 vs NYJ and scored in those games w under 3 mins or less in the game....you really think Hogan is a NFL QB?
So why waste your time w Hogan....his body of work at ND showed he had accuracy issues and it would only get worse in the NFL, but Hogan playing does what for the future of the team?
Same argument we had ad nauseam in the offseason regarding the position. And goes back to what I believed "The Plan" to be. The tore this roster down to the studs to the point that no one would have success. The result was a predictable 1-15 record. There were some pieces in place that a brutal season made you feel good about going forward. The prudent approach would have been to continue developing the multitude of young players, while adding more into the mix. They did that with 14 and 12 draft picks over the past two seasons. The Browns addressed the largest area of concern from 2016 in free agency - the offensive line. They had pieces in place to continue development. I don't even fault them drafting Kizer because the thinking with him - nearly universally - was sit him for two seasons and work on mechanics, fundamentals, etc. This seemed to jive with The Plan perfectly! Kessler (or Hogan, or Osweiler) would start and Kizer could work on the multitude of issues he had behind the scenes. Hue Jackson threw a major wrench into this when he named him the starter, despite looking bad the only time he played against starters. Yet, this is a guy who's being paid millions of dollars to do this and has been doing it his whole life - benefit of the doubt had to be extended. The result? Kizer trotted out into the fray and turns out two seasons of off-field development was just the beginning. I can say with 100% certainty he's a bust and will never be an NFL QB. But that doesn't mean The Plan is completely lost. They can go back to the blueprint - start Hogan and help the development of the young players - the young receivers, specifically - while building the team with the appropriate free agents, trades, and multiple draft picks. Once the cockpit has been built - or is close - pull the trigger on the presumptive franchise QB (as the Rams, Eagles, Texans, Chiefs, etc. have done in recent seasons). No, the Playoffs are not in the picture this season, but that doesn't mean you continue to start Kizer who regresses weekly and worse, stunts the growth and development of every other player on the roster.
To wit: Kizer was completing 50.9% of his passes on the season. Routinely, the receivers were being blamed and crucified for inaccurate, uncatchable, and indefensible footballs. In the Jets game, he was 8 of 17 - 47.1%. Kevin Hogan went 16 of 19 in the Jets game alone. He's completing 68.4% of his passes. Why? Did the receivers instantly get better at catching the football between the first and third quarters?
They dropped a stat on the pre-game to try and defend Kizer (and shift blame to the receivers). They credited the Browns' receivers with dropping almost 1/4 of Kizer's catchable balls. They gave the official "catchable" catches percent 77%. That sound bad, but here's the trouble... the receivers have only dropped 8 balls on the season. 8 / .23 = 34.8 That means of all this passes, only 35 were deemed catchable. On his 142 attempts (prior to this game), that's 24.5% of his throws that were catchable - meaning on target, unobstructed, and on time. How does that help the receivers develop? How does that help the offense develop any rhythm? The only one that helps is the kicker who - clearly - needs all the help he can get right now, and the punter.
Ugh. Bad enough the Chiefs got Kareem Hunt and we passed, but their rookie (backup) kicker is 3/3 right now.
Speaking of strategies....TD u can have all the Tito's you want....use Miller way to early once again and then he will get his wish w Kluber in game 5....blow a 3-1 lead last yr and now it looks like a 2-0 lead this yr...smh
One final thing Cam Erving started for KC 2nite....they rolled to 39 pts and Hunt had another 100+ yds
hey Stopper, FUCK OFF!!! and I mean that... As far as the Browns go...I'm sorry. I'm sure this will piss some people off, but I could care less... Kizer is the worst QB I've ever seen in the NFL...He makes Brandon Weeden look good. BTW: Sashi Brown and company SUCK even more!!! They should be embarrassed with this bullshit they throwin out for the sad Browns fans... CARSON WENTZ = STUD DESHON WATSON = STUD but hey, we got Kizer and Kessler, and most importantly (in Sashi's mind) a surefire bead on another #1....so yippeeefuckinkyay!!!can't wait till next April.
Its ok bud you will wake up 2moro and have that pep in your step and I think NYG have that sure fire #1 pick after all their injuries 2day
lol! sorry man...it's just that I hate everything you ever say on these threads with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns...
I try to be a realist as best as I can....my Noles suck this yr and have bad coaching and until Jimbo makes changes we will continue to lose in the final mins or lose to less talented teams.....thats just stating facts....I may ruffle feathers on here, but I try to be real w my posts
The Cleveland Browns have a chance to possibly win a game this year as long as Kizer is nowhere in the vicinity of the playing field...That's all I can say. I guess it's up to the organization, which obviously doesn't bode well for fans like me that just want to see a freakin win...
SAS...You were all over Watson as top QB, as was Irish. Though neither wanted us to take him early, which I obviously noted....I'm not ready to say he's better than Trubisky yet, but WHAT A BALLER....Oh my! Dabo Sweeney basically called the Browns out. He told us that "if we pass on Watson, we are passing on the next Michael Jordan"..... Chalk me up as a believer! And for those that say, "oh but we HAD to take Garrett!"....don't forget we coulda walked away with BOTH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do ya think Texans give a crap that we have their #1 draft slot next year?? smh... Watson is the real deal. Just add him to the list of vintage Brownsisms...
Not only does Kizer throw a seemingly uncatchable pass, but he's equally ineffective on a simple pitch to the RB on the ol option play...I mean WTH?
Kizer takes "rookie quarterback awkwardness" to levels I never knew existed...He's so amazingly bad, it's hard to put it into words. You just have to see it. Then go throw up and think about the QB's we passed on.... Does it really matter if teams can "gameplan" for Hogan...lol! My son's junior high team would have Kizer baffled.... NEWSFLASH: we are IN the 2018 QB search....
LMAO!!! Dude, I watched that game. Cam Erving looked utterly awful. He was owned routinely. The KC line performed well in spite of him.
Well the announcers said he played a good game and I watched the game as well...he wasnt the best OL ever, but he held his own
