Sounds like you probably could tell us some interesting stories Memphis .... me I lived all over - England / Italy / Germany - Air Force bases .... we were poor though and dad/mom lived in a relative ghetto with us kids once back in the states ....I may have been white but I know what it is like to be a minority in my neighborhood and to be chased off school busses by kids of a diff racial background .... and to have to fight on my own street in self defense at times growing up

No need to thank me. I'm no hero. The heros of my generation have their names engraved on a wall in D.C.

Have been there and seen it. Solemn moment. Downright spiritual even

The product of the NFL has certainly become diluted. Fewer practices, Thursday night games, and international games will do that.

Thanks man. He would appreciate that.

Would have responded earlier but just catching up. The baby boomers who I usually joke about were stepping up and being really cool at the new place (microbrewery/microdistillery) in town and we were for whatever reason getting along really well and they were buying quite a few drinks. I had to return the favor at least some. Good convo, some young people joined in too. All around great evening as far as I’m concerned

Mr Rooney said the Steelers anthem actions were over. He understands a little better how the business side of the NFL will be effected long term if people keep tuning out. Long after the current generation of players is gone Mr. Rooney will still own the team. The current generation of NFL players needs to think of future generations.

Vince Williams is a player they could and should upgrade from next season.

Hey Tim, looks like I accidentally doubled up a post while trying to post something else the other night. I was going to edit it by deleting the doubles up part but I’m not seeing an “edit” option on old posts now. Is this some kind of change to the format .... or related to using the https:// version of the site (that’s what I’m using now thanks to Lyman’s tip).

    Thanks.

Btw, was just trying to relate to you coming from a challenging childhood situation, Memphis King. Growing up, there were also kids from that same neighborhood who helped me and were good friends despite me being from a different background than them. Sometimes I forget on a message board it’s easy for others to take things out of context or in different ways than intended (us not really knowing each other) and didn’t want that to happen. When you have a military family you get to know and become friends with families from a wide variety of backgrounds (that was my experience anyways).

    Peace

This is a point that non-veterans often miss. When you arrive at basic training, EVERYONE regardless of ethnic or financial backgrounds, are walking piles of human dog shit. You are ALL in the exact same social and economic class. You are ALL afforded the exact same opportunity to advance through promotion. When I first enlisted, I made $92.00 a month! Just like every other black, hispanic, asian, eskimo or (insert any race, creed or gender) person. I, like so many others, kept my nose clean, went to work every day and did the best job I could do. I spent two TDY's with the Hurricane Hunters and was assigned to a Presidential Support Group. As such, when I was discharged 8 years later, I left the service as a Staff Sergeant. I now have many life long bonds with people from all ethnic backgrounds.

Vince needs to just let it go. What can he think is going to happen with this?

Isn't the shortcomings of Vince Williams big dummy Ben's fault? Perhaps a better QB would improve Vince's shenanigans on the field.
