Vince Williams twittered that Pittsburgh fans who destroyed their jerseys bc of the political protests should not buy them back. He does not want them to be fans ever again. He said there is no room on the bandwagon for them to come back.

I washed my Tomlin jersey in the fire pit this week as well as my Stairway To 7 t-shirt. Well, actually, I tore them doing an Incredible Hulk impersonation. I shall never part with my beloved “Steelers” lucky athletic t-shirt though. So I guess I’m still allowed to be a fan?

Tech, Let's move this thread to the politics section. Tim already sent out a thing requesting political threads stay in said section. Thank you.

This is a Steelers' fan thing Memphis so I don't think we need to move it right now.

If it gets into some kind of argument for no reason then we can bump it down to the politics section.

Vince is not the only player saying dont come back if you walked over protest. Delanie Walker also said the same thing. I wonder if either of these guys realize if enough fans were to walk away from the game their fat money goes bye bye. If ratings continue to fall as they did last year the tv contracts get smaller and if those get smaller the cap stops growing and could i suppose potentially shrink if viewership fell enough (I doubt that will happen). In way its kind of funny players who are protesting want the right to protest but dont think the fans should have a voice.

And the site is functioning better (less adware redirects etc) since my IOS software upgrade .... coincidence or enhancements on your end? Either way, much better.

Certainly no need to apologize, Tech. I've known you long enough now where I assumed you didn't realize it. Like Tim said, it relates enough to the Steelers to where it's alright. :)

    It absolutely could happen.
    • Salary Cap is tied directly to TV revenue.
    • TV revenue is tied directly advertising revenue.
    • Advertising revenue is tied directly to viewership (ratings).
IF viewership (ratings) go down, advertisers pay less for commercial spots -> TV revenue goes down. TV revenue goes down, so does the salary cap.

I’m hoping it does hit them HARD in the wallets and the NFL is forced to reform back to something more like the 70s.

Be careful what you wish for. (think PPV)

I will make one note as far as my opinion goes, respectfully. I'm all for all kinds of freedom of speech in this regard. However, I wish the people that were burning their NFL clothing would instead take it to their local VA and donate it to homeless vets. Just my 2 cents.

Good point....I used to get my Steelers fixes out of state when the “ten minute ticker” update scrolled at bottom of my analog screen.....at least now the tech exists to give me PPV as an option though. I would pay to watch our boys in black and gold....we I mean my boys (not yours) hahah.

Seriously though, Kizer is still the real deal in my mind and I’m not saying otherwise till they put something around him on offense other than dropped football artists for receivers and matadors for offensive line....

What makes you think the vets would wear it? I am a vet. But I've been blessed with a pretty good life after my service was up. A homeless vet already feels like this country has abandoned them.

And that's all I have to say about that.

My wife tries to fish stuff out of the garbage when I throw clothes away and wash Em and do just that. She is a better person than me though. She just gives up when I Incredible Hulk tear something though hahahah

    Dang .... good point.

Man “already feels like his country has abandoned him” makes me want to sign up to help a vet or something .... my dad was a lifer in the military

Homeless in general, really. I only mentioned vets since it's a crucial part of who people feel are being disrespected by the kneeling. As someone that's lived on the streets from time to time as a kid, I can assure you any type of clothing would be welcomed.
