    In the Colts game alone!

I have to ask SAS, did you sit down and watch the Colts game, or just look up a website after it was over? They only credit Britt with ONE drop in that game...Well, just going off of my terrible memory, he had one that touched both of his hands and went into the arms of the defender for a INT. I am pretty sure they didn't count this as a "drop" because it was on his back shoulder. I don't know who they have "watching" the games to count drops, but if a ball hits a receiver in both hands it SHOULD be counted as a drop. The other hit him in his bread basket, he fumbled the ball around eventually dropping it between his feet. I know there were several others, but I don't want to talk to them from memory...I don't want to mis-credit one to an individual that doesn't deserve it.

I ask the same question I did before and I will add another..1) Do you believe a ball hits a receiver in both hands should be caught? 2) Did you play football personally? I am not going to cut on you if you didn't, I merely want to see what perspective you have on the first question.

  2. Duke Johnson will never be a focal point of an offense....it seems every time that guy runs the ball or catches a pass it takes him 2-3 secs to get up...he had the same problem at Miami Fl....he's a situational type player

  4. I think it does matter how the ball is thrown even if the WR gets 2 hands on it....was it a missile from 5 yds away and high? Was it behind the WR running full speed across the field...there are other factors than getting 2 hands on the ball

Maybe in high school stopper, but a professional who gets paid multi million dollar contracts should catch the ball if they can get two hands on it...That's a BS statement from a wide receivers coach (high school level).

  6. Ok I played the position and coached it and you try running full speed and try catching a 50 mph pass thrown behind you

Condescension here aside, yes, I watched the game. I re-watched the game. I usually try to check the All-22 if I can.

    This one.

Not to jump ahead, but yes... I played six years of organized football. Receiver/running back. I would be incensed if someone called this a "drop" on my part. Kenny Britt has no chance at that ball and you're either disingenuous or ignoring the reality of it if you think it's a drop.

I believe there's more to it than that. Difference is between "should" and "could". Here's an example.

That's an on-target pass to Britt, who gets both hands on it. The defender makes a play to break that up. Was it a catchable ball? Yes. Could Britt have caught it? Yes. Did the defender make a great play to disrupt the catch? Yes. So I can't say this should have been caught. I say this could have been caught.

Some rush linebacker, too, once I put more weight on.

    Question...

Drop? Pass is at the receiver's feet (off-target) with a defender hanging on him

    How about...

Drop? Pass is high for the receiver (off-target) with a linebacker in his face.

I don't put any of those above on the receivers... I would call them defensed or bad throws. Cleveland Browns counted them as three of the "eight" drops. I would put the count at three, maybe four for the game. I also saw some amazing catches where the receivers bailed out bad throws. Those seem to be conveniently ignored.

If Antonio Brown hadn't caught that "jump ball" at the end of the first game, would it have been a drop? With two defenders draped on him, and contesting the catch?

I'm just pointing out what I think we all understand; it may not be drops, but there are many passes that are either not perfect, or are seriously contested, where they won't be a drop assigned, but were catchable. S

We've seen some truly outstanding catches, and numerous "could haves" that fell to the turf, or worse. I think we can agree on that. So, while we may not have a 'lot" of drops, we also have seen many catchables, that aren't, and yes they impact the QB, the Drive, the O as a whole. One would hope that the ratio of those caught vs "not caught" will get better, and our QB will make more passes catchable.

Incremental steps, just inches from success, and with a few inches of improvement.............!

SAS, I agree with some of what you point out, but I am not a proponent for "not throwing deep". If we want Kessler, then start him. I do agree wholeheartedly agree we need to run more, and that Hue needs to re-evaluate his offensive focus to use his best weapons more frequently. The deep ball serves a purpose beyond the home run, it also keeps safeties away from the line, making at least the possibility of the run, a more attractive option.

I hate to say it but I think Stopper may be right about Duke being better used as the change of pace/recieving guy, instead of the main RB. Still he should get more plays, and more focus in this O.

As for Kizer, he's a work in progress, and I don't think it's correct to say Phil Rivers wouldn't make a difference, mainly because in two of our games it was turnovers that kept us from winning, not drops, misses, or penalties that made the difference. That said, I think TD is right: Kizer represents our best hope at QB, on this roster, and he's gong to lose some games, but he's also going to grow and progress, and as that happens he will put up some Ws. It's no guarantee, but he's the only guy who "could" become our franchise QB, so I'm all for letting him learn on the job, and thereby accelerate his developement, and our fortunes as a franchisse.

All hail the Brown and Orange (wihtout stripes).

Where's the Cody K stuff coming from?

I have said repeated that Kizer should start all 16 this season. I'm all for benching Kizer in games where he's killing the team (Baltimore, Indianpolis) but Hogan is the primary back-up and I'm fine with bringing him in.

I've been blasting Kizer for being a bad quarterback and Hue for forcing the issue (and not running the football). That's it.

C'mon... he called him a situational player at Miami. He rushed for 3,519 yards 26 TDs, and added another 719 receiving yard and 4 TDs in three years. He's first all time in Miami's history in rushing yards. Second in rushing yards for a season. He's second all-time in the ACC in yards-per-attempt (his boy Dalvin was #3 so it could just be resentment).

I totally agree, as I mentioned it several times in the past in regards to Duke. He doesn't have that special ability that some do at avoiding the crushing hits. Duke gets rocked....There's no doubt. He couldn't be a feature back. Well, I suppose he could, but it wouldn't last long. Better have a good plan B on hand.

Great role player though, and he has stepped up this season. I'm proud of DJ. Just wish he could get out of harms way more effectively. He takes the full impact from the defender too often.

    On a lighter note...

It's oddly satisfying watching Steelers and Ravens paraphernalia being burned.

  16. BTW, Cook had 130 more carries and had a 6.5 ypc compared to 6.7

Once all this protests BS blows over and the booze wears off, I wonder how many people regret (or will regret) burning their shit.

Raven fan almost lit himself up....smh. Did you see his buddy dousing all that gas on the jersey while he was ranting? lol! Then he just casually holds up the gas soaked jersey and takes a lighter to the bottom of it...POOF!!! I guarantee that idiot lost all his arm hair, and maybe even his eyelashes....wow. what a display.

BTW- DirecTV is offering full refunds to those who have the Sunday Ticket and no longer want it....I'm still debating. Oddly though, my beef isn't about the protests. lol! I'm pissed because Directv and WBNS (Columbus Ohio CBS) are still in a pissing match, and I gotta watch the damn Browns game on the computer or a friends house that doesn't have DirecTV...It's a joke. I rely on DirecTV to assure me of all the Browns games, and now they are the reason I don't get the Browns game...What the hell am I paying for???
