So here's the deal... Jackson has 13 games left to right the ship. To the people who are hollering "it's only three games", we only play 16. Almost 20% through the season and his team - specifically his offense - looks atrocious. I'm only being consistent with Kizer. I called Brandon Weeden a bust after his first NFL start. I gave Kizer three. He's performed worse than Weeden, so I would be remiss to let it slide. If Kizer had two seasons to learn the position, yes... in his third year he'd be pretty good. This regime isn't going to survive two seasons with him learning on the job, plain and simple.
That's fine Tim. I can respect that. At least you are referencing a player that actually WAS selected very high in the draft...I just don't remember the clamouring for Cleveland to take Kareem Hunt #1 overall...
Did you actually listen to the interview or just use the mini quotes that others use to get hits? He ALSO said that he only puts one of the three INTs on Kizer. The one to Britt, he said "should have been caught", he "doesn't believe he didn't want to catch it", but "those things happen". The other one in the red zone was a miscommunication between Kasen and Kizer, but said it was on the QB to put the ball in the right spot and the receiver to be in the right spot. The 3rd was the "hail mary" to end the game. So FOR YOU to say, "Your receivers have executed it well enough" is not only a stretch, but a misconceived viewpoint.
For the record...Weeden threw 5 picks in his first game, AND got stuck under the giant flag in pregame ceremonies....Pretty sure we ALL had a bad feeling about our 29 year old rookie at that point...Also, a couple games later, we miraculously had a golden opportunity to take one from the Ravens. Browns were down 5 points, with 3 seconds left in the game, and the ball was on the Baltimore 5 yard line. What does Weeden do? He takes the snap, drops back, doesn't like what he sees, and tosses the ball five rows deep into the stands....If we weren't sure about him before that beauty, we sure as hell were after...At least, I know I was...
Don't forget the first series he ever ran, he hiked the ball at the 5 on 2nd down and ran out of the back of the end zone for a safety... Oh wait, that wasn't Weeden....
I've enjoyed the banter today. We Browns fans may not agree on much, but somehow this is therapeutic for me.... lol! That was Cody K ball.
All right, fine. I'll bow out. Please, continue to fail holding the NFL's worst quarterback accountable and give him a pass for everything. Interception against Pittsburgh that probably cost us the game? He's a rookie... it's going to happen. Our special teams really screwed the pooch. Multiple-turnover game that definitely cost us a win in Baltimore? He's a young player and that's a Playoff team. Ravens might be the best defense in the NFL! *gets thundered 44-7 the follow week by a bad team* Worst roster we're going to face this season, favored, and playing against one of the worst pass defenses - yet kills us with interceptions and inaccurate throws? Geeze... the receivers dropped the ball. Kenny Britt is the reason we're losing games!! I'll be re-focusing my efforts on watching game film on the 2018 opening day starter for the Browns if you need me.
Are you taking your ball and going home? Geez. It's been three games!..Obviously you can do whatever you want, but this is ridiculous. Can't we just see if our young team can find a foothold, before we bury another QB? You compare some stats to a complete failure we foolishly traded up for several years ago, and that's how you come to your conclusion that Kizer is a waste??....That's ridiculous. You can't compare the situations...Different players. Different coaches. Different EVERYTHING.... There's a difference between "making excuses", and simply pointing out details that could effect the outcome...I mean, Kizer REALLY is a raw rookie, learning on the fly. Is he not? He REALLY does have the worst WR supporting cast in the NFL by far. Does he not? Evidently you expected another Dak Prescott situation to happen here with Kizer, which is absurd.... Yes, Kizer has had a tough three games to start his NFL journey. My question is, what young signal caller wouldn't have had a rocky start in this given situation?? Seriously. Heck. Forget that^^^...Name me a veteran that wouldn't have struggled in this situation Kizer finds himself in? You can't. Because this is a TEAM game. A QB is only as good as his supporting cast allows... Kizer has been FAR from perfect, but it's WAY to early to pull the plug and call him a waste...He needs time. This whole team needs time. We all wanted the process to be much quicker, but it is what it is...We are only a year removed from seeing this team stripped down to the nubs.
On top of all our own disfunction, doesn't it seem like this team NEVER catches a break? I mean, for example, how about that "roughing the QB" on Brissett in the first quarter?...It was a textbook QB hit. The ref that threw the flag was standing in a spot where it appeared that our defender threw all his weight on the QB. Yet replay clearly showed he didn't. We got screwed on that, and there's a BIG difference between 3rd and long, and first down with an extra 15 tacked on...The Colts of course went on to finish the drive with a score, while the Browns get the shaft... Par for the course for Cleveland and it's fans.... That's just how it goes. How it ALWAYS goes...I mentioned it last week...Until we rid ourselves of the losing stigma, we aren't getting the calls. When in doubt, throw the flag on Cleveland....
I don't know TD, That unsportsmanlike call against von miller yesterday was pretty iffy. But you are correct that until this team plays better and is consistently improving that will be tough to change.
Of course not! Someone's got to keep you knuckleheads in line. Hell, they banned me from the site and I still came back with a vengeance. No, in that instance specifically, I meant I was going to stop discussing Kizer (and likely will until he's no longer the worst QB in the NFL) and instead look ahead to the next crop of signal callers, which BTW... I was really hoping I wouldn't have to do. Cody Kessler. Josh McCown. Kizer is dead last in the NFL in QB rating and it's not close. His 53.2 rating is 12.0 points lower than the next-lowest passer. The company he keeps at the bottom of that list is inglorious, to say the least. His first three starts are considerably worse than the aforementioned Brandon Weeden, a player whom by the way, everyone here blasted me for hating on and decrying him as a bust as early as I did. In fact, the very same things being said now were being said then - give him time, it's the receivers, the team isn't good. Same old story. Here are the only Browns QBs in the team encyclopedia with a worse QB rating: Mike Phipps (50.1) Eric Zeier (51.9) Luke McCown (52.6) Ken Dorsey (26.1) Terry Luck (37.2) Jeff Christensen (42.1) Mark Miller (17.7)* Kevin Hogan (45.1)* Spergeon Wynn (41.2) Len Dawson (35.1) Will Curteon (38.0) With the exception of Phipps, all those players started four or fewer games in their Browns careers. Kizer will make his fourth start next Sunday against a recovering Bengals team who just took a perennial playoff contender to overtime and forced one interception and six sacks against one of the best QBs to ever play the game. I'm guessing the Bengals roll by at least 20. *Meier and Hogan have never started a game.
4th and 12 on the last possession and they call a phantom PI on a WR that slipped cause his weight was leaning backwards or the hit on Kizer before he even slid and got hit on his shoulder/back area....TD we get your a die hard but the complaining and excuses are beyond embarrassment at times
Oh my that guy is still being discussed....we have heard for 3 weeks L Bell hasnt looked the same missing all of camp and people expect big things from a guy who hasnt played in yrs smh
Not my list...I have stated over and over a guy going #1 doesnt have 33 tackles in a season...the guy Tim brought up almost doubled that output w 62 tackles and the same amount of sacks
lol! Really? Why are you such an asshat Stopper??? FTR -Your short hand gibberish writing style is beyond embarrassing.....I meant everything I said, and nobody is twisting your arm to make you read it. I think this is true on every level of football, especially in games decided by one score. it's just natural for fans to point to bad calls, and bad bounces, and all the other crazy things that happen in this wonderful sport, that could have effected the outcome. I didn't say, "wow, we would have won if they hadn't called the roughing penalty"...Everything I said was true. The Browns can't catch a break. It was a specific bad call that kept the Indy scoring drive alive and gave them 15 yards, which led to a score. Without it, they would have had to punt. In a game that we ultimately lost by 3 points, it seemed relevant to me....And I'm not embarrassed at all to point that out, but please feel free not to read my posts.
Did somebody say there was an "ignore" button somewhere? lol! It was also stated over and over that Garrett played hurt all last year, so thanks for the meaningless stats... Well the Browns selected Garrett, so of course he wasn't on your list Stopper. That goes without saying...With all do respect to Tim, I was just referencing actual NFL GM's, including John Lynch (the one that selected Thomas), who admitted to making calls to Cleveland in an effort to move up a spot so he could select Myles Garrett....But if you want to widen the range to every person in the world, Garrett still was at the top of 98.3% of the lists...
Click the user name. Ignore in the left-hand side. I thought I saw a stat prior to the draft that Garrett was the #1 overall pick on 99.8% of all mock draft sites - not exaggerating that percentage.
