The Miami Dolphins announced Tuesday they have suspended linebacker Lawrence Timmons indefinitely.

Timmons was inactive for Sunday's 19-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers after he left the team hotel Saturday "after growing angry about something not related to the team," according to the Miami Herald's Adam H. Beasley.

The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson confirmed a report from TMZ Sports that stated the Dolphins called Timmons' family members and others close to him before filing a missing persons report. ESPN.com's Adam Schefter reported Timmons returned to the team Sunday but that the team decided against letting him play in Week 2.

Schefter also spoke to a source who said the 11-year veteran is "doing much better [Monday] and wants to resume playing immediately." According to Schefter, Timmons will meet with doctors Monday to determine what led to his sudden departure.

Speaking to reporters Monday, Dolphins head coach Adam Gase declined to make a commitment to Timmons when asked if the 31-year-old still has a future with the team.

"Nothing to add, for what I have right now," Gase said. "Really just gathering a lot of information. I've got a few other things I have to deal with the guys who played yesterday."

Timmons is in the first year of a two-year, $12 million deal that included $11 million guaranteed. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tweeted Timmons' indefinite suspension could jeopardize the $4.5 million in guaranteed money he's set to receive in 2018.

If he is cut he could potentially lose his signing bonus of 5.5. He was only guaranteed 1.0 million. We are talking leadership here kidz.

    Miami Dolphins...

The Miami Dolphins on Tuesday acquired linebacker Stephone Anthony from the New Orleans Saints in exchange for a 2018 undisclosed draft pick. Both teams confirmed the swap. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source, that it is a 2018 fifth-round pick.

    New York Giants...

When a team gets beaten handily twice to start a season, the head coach starts to ponder making early changes to give his squad a spark before fading too far into the darkness.

That's the scenario New York Giants coach Ben McAdoo is facing. Following Monday night's flop against the Detroit Lions, McAdoo said he's considering making significant changes across the board.

"We can't keep doing the same thing over and over again. That's insanity," he said on a conference call Tuesday, via the New York Daily News. "It's not working so we're going to look to make some more changes this week like we did last week. Maybe a little more drastic."

Perhaps the first change could be stepping away from play-calling duties. McAdoo has been calling plays since he took over as New York's offensive coordinator in 2014, and hung onto them after being promoted to head coach in 2016.

"That's something we'll look at and talk about," he said of possibly giving play-calling duties to offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan.

Dont'a Hightower, Danny Amendola return to practice...

The once-banged-up Patriots are getting healthy in a hurry.

Wednesday's practice saw some key players. Linebacker Dont'a Hightower (knee) and wideout Danny Amendola (concussion/knee) were limited in their return to practice. Tight end Rob Gronkowski (groin) did not practice, but was on the practice field during the session.

    NFL...

The NFL will wrap itself in pink for breast cancer, and put on faux-camo to celebrate the military.

Now, a group of players have asked commissioner Roger Goodell to spend a month talking about black and white.

According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, a group of four current and former players sent the league a memo in August asking for the NFL’s help campaigning for racial equality and criminal justice reform. The letter was signed by Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett, Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins, retired wide receiver Anquan Boldin and Eagles wideout Torrey Smith.

The 10-page letter to Goodell and executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent also asked the league to endorse efforts to promote an activism awareness month.

Neither the league, nor the players who signed the memo commented, citing an agreement to keep direct communications with Goodell private.

The memo requested the league to invest time and education, political involvement, finances and other commitments from the league. They also asked the league to endorse November as the time to celebrate their cause.

Well . . . It's about time. I can't imagine any successful company or organization whose employees are vastly minorities, not wanting to do anything in their power to improve the climate in which they live.

Here's a simple solution to increase awareness . . . Pick a month and televise all games in black and white.

In theory the dropping of the bottom two teams seems like a really good idea, until a team that gets very good ratings for TV has to be dropped and the networks that are paying billions of dollars to show the games throw fits.

yeah gid, i read it in jest and laughed at it, but the EPL does do it to teams in 3 tiers. top teams have been sent down to tier 2. and can make a deal if a team got sent down the cost of televising their games is cheaper or something. or cheaper tix, which would never be allowed by these billionaire owners. just a silly idea.

The Cowboys and Giants somehow always play each other in prime time even when one or both suck ass. If both of them were 2-13 heading into the last Sunday night game they wouldn't even flex them out.

The NFL has been struggling to sell tickets in California so far this season, and when two California teams meet tonight, empty seats will abound.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that tonight’s game could draw the worst crowd in the four-season history of Levi’s Stadium, based on data from ticket resale sites.

The cheapest face value ticket for a 49ers game is $85, but tickets are going for just $14 on StubHub for tonight’s game. Fans will take any price they can get to unload tickets to a game they don’t want to see.

It’s not just San Francisco where the NFL is struggling to sell tickets. Both Los Angeles teams, the Rams and Chargers, played in front of small crowds on Sunday. The Chargers couldn’t even fill up their tiny soccer stadium, while the Rams played in front of a half-full L.A. Coliseum the day after the USC-Texas game packed the house. Oakland is off to a hot start that has Raiders fans excited, but plenty of fans have been turned off by the team’s decision to move to Las Vegas.

The 49ers aren’t playing well enough to get the local fans excited, and Thursday night games are often a tough sell. Expect tens of thousands of empty seats in Santa Clara tonight.

Have they checked California's population lately? Maybe they all offed themselves when Trump won?

Maybe the teams should be in other states? 3 of the teams just moved or have plans to move soon. The 49ers suck. Californians have to worry about their buzzes wtf concerns should they have about gypsy football teams?

The Falcons have made the depth roster move that Joe and I said we expected earlier. With Vic Beasley and Courtney Upshaw both already declared OUT for this weekend, defensive lineman Joe Vellano has been added to the roster. Backup cornerback Deji Olatoye was waived to clear space.

If he clears waivers, Olatoye is likely to be immediately added to Atlanta's practice squad.

Have both Gurley and Hyde in my main league - happy as hell with 5 TDs between them, but truth be told, it could easily have been 8. Gurley got stopped at the one a couple times on separate drive (actually scored on one, but Sean McVay didn't ask for a review), and Hyde got stopped a couple times from the one as well.

That said, I also spit the bit in benching Pierre Garcon in my other league.
