Your opinion is your opinion. Fair enough but the 15 guys on IR comment is misleading and naive. Yanda is a big blow. After him you'd have a hard time finding a guy that has made any meaningful contribution to the team. Carlos Davis - nobody Daniel Henry - nobody Aaron Bailey - nobody Crockett Gillmore - always injured, will not be a Raven next year Al-Haji Shabazz - nobody Kenny Bell - nobody Kenneth Dixon - if available he'd be serving a 6-game suspension Alex Lewis - terrible Albert McClellan - good special teams player Nico Siragusa - unknown Tim White - happy to IR him to keep him off waivers Tavon Young - decent last year but would not be playing ahead of Smith / Carr / Humphries / Webb Brennen Beyer - nobody Brandon Boykin - nobody Maurice Canady - would not be playing ahead of Smith / Carr / Humphries / Webb Danny Woodhead - one healthy season in the last 4, dumb signing at 3.25M Sheldon Price - nobody Bam Bradley - special teamer Marshall Yanda - stud If you had to list the Ravens 20 most-talented players only one guy on this list makes the Top 20.
Uh Lyman, he was specifically speaking about the performance of Kizer...not a W or L. And they can keep him upright long enough to do it...but he has still held the ball too long. An extremely common trait for a rookie QB, I.E. see almost every rookie to ever start in year one. He had a comp % of 66.7 against the Steelers..so it is possible to get open receivers, we just didn't see it against the Ravens. Everyone on the team needs to improve from week to week...which is where we have an advantage. We have an average age of 24, who are nearly all finding their way and should individually improve each and every week. Many of the other teams we face are older, wiser and more than likely getting set in their ways. If we catch them and start winning games, it should tell us this team is destined for better days. Now, if we continue to digress against lessor teams, then yes, we can start having the sky is falling discussions. We just faced, most likely, the two best teams on our schedule in 2017. The Lions have looked like giant killers, otherwise, everyone else has looked average at best...many well below average. These are the teams we should be comparing the 2nd year rebuild Browns to....Bring them on!
It's Kizer SECOND game... Elway started and was replaced in his first two games due to inefficiency. Steve DeBerg was named the starter for several games, then was injured. Elway came in and didn't relinquish the role. Not saying Kizer is the next Elway, just saying... relax, its only game 2. Baby steps.
Hey DA...Er, I mean Dl, I said I was ecstatic on the timing, not that they had one...Reading Comprehension 101, maybe sign up for it?! So, if they have a frequency of about 5-6 months, everyone is to expect it also happens on a Sunday around 1 PM? Over reaction is an understatement to this. If he had them in college, I would have heard about it on a Saturday afternoon at some point, I never miss a game. To think all of a sudden he will have them more frequently AND ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON is extremely premature. It wasn't just the kid...it was the medical staff. They held him out until THEY gave him clearance. He didn't want to leave the game at all. I agree 100%
I think the media is making too much of the Kizer migraine situation. He's not the first player that ever dealt with it. They are a nightmare but they can be medicated and controlled. Obviously Terrell Davis comes to mind, after he famously overcame and mid game migraine in the SB, and ended up with the MVP. Troy Aikman suffered from migraines throughout his career. Deshone Kizer will be okay.
I don't think anyone should be ecstatic about the presence or the timing. I stand by my statement. Crazy that I know how to read, huh? "This" happening, and "the acceptable frequency" were referring to it happening in-game. I could argue semantics and insinuate that you're a poor reader, as above, but I don't see the reason for it. People don't have to be dicks. Between his last high school instance and now, he's likely played around 40 games. In the NFL, he'll be playing 16-20 every year. So, if he's a ten year starter or more, you've got to accept that your franchise starting QB is going to either miss or play poorly in at least a handful of games, by virtue of odds. I'm just wondering what the acceptable frequency is for everyone - if they're sporadic, happening once every two years, is everyone good with that? Once a year? Twice a year?... The kid is still young - his brain has another 5-ish years before it's done with most of its development. We all know age has many effects on the human body. I'm just pondering on the situations that may arise in the future. Well, then we've got more issues. Kizer has to be mature/smart enough to know he's not capable of playing at a high level, if that was indeed the problem, and get help/take himself out. If that wasn't the problem, then we can't use the migraine excuse, and point squarely to poor play from him. The medical staff can't do much about a migraine - that's a shitty situation. But if his symptoms and responses are the same or similar when you send him back in as they were when he came off, you've got to keep him out/alert the coaching staff. And then, if they did that, it goes back to Hue... And Kizer's own testimony is really the biggest measure as to his status, at the time... It's all overblown. It was a bad situation. Let's hope everyone involved learned a lesson about how to handle it better, next time. It starts with Kizer knowing his limits, and developing that maturity. I'm neither expecting nor asking that of a guy his age just stepping up to the next level of his career. But again, I hope that he starts heading towards that, after this.
I am well aware that Fox's tweet was talking about Kizer. SAS asked if we had any concerns. So, I answered him while intentionally not taking any shots at Kizer. I have some concerns and I aired them.
I wasn't addressing your reply to him, I was addressing your reply to ME. As my response was directly towards Kizer and not wins or losses.
Again, we will agree to disagree here. A competitor at the level of Kizer (I.E. any professional athlete) never wants to leave the field of play due to injury, let alone a headache. YET, in our educated 2017, the NFL staff is responsible for recognizing signs of concussion, which one of the leading ones are headaches. If they fear a concussion, they must immediately send him into concussion protocol. Now as to the "excuse" I agree 100%, I won't blame the play on the headache, I blame it on the QB. The headache could easily be the cause of the bad play, but at the same time, if the headache doesn't necessitate removal, then the player must learn to play at a higher level while experiencing it. And again, as you already stated, it is only his second game as a pro. He has a lot of growing to do before we can have nearly enough information to evaluate him as a player.
Depth players beach....those guys wuld b making the 53 man roster...now ur at 38 and picking up scrap
Like who? And what 53 man roster? I could make a convincing argument that the Ravens are better off now that their hand has been forced to go out and get experienced o-linemen like Bergstrom and Howard.
I think this grading system is a complete joke....Brady goes 30-39 for 450 yds and 3 TDs and one of their DBs makes the list....something seems way off here
You have no clucking fue what you're talking about... Carlos Davis - no chance in hell Daniel Henry - no chance in hell Aaron Bailey - no chance in hell Crockett Gillmore - no chance he was ahead of Maxx Williams or Ben Watson. Would have had to beat out Nick Boyle. Unlikely. Al-Haji Shabazz - no chance in hell Kenny Bell - no chance in hell Kenneth Dixon - suspended Alex Lewis - agree Albert McClellan - agree Nico Siragusa - agree Tim White - possible but doubtful, was a candidate for the famous Ozzie IR stash even before the injury Tavon Young - he or Canady, not both Brennen Beyer - no chance in hell Brandon Boykin - no chance in hell Maurice Canady - he or Young, not both Danny Woodhead - made the 53 Sheldon Price - no chance in hell Bam Bradley - made the 53 Marshall Yanda - made the 53 19 players 6 locks / made it 3 possible 8 no chance in hell 2 unlikely 95% would mean 18 of the 19 players. Name me 18 guys on that list that would have made the 53. You are talking out your ass.
Yeah, most likely there is another guy, or three, that came NO WHERE NEAR the list. If Brady avoids him for a reason, he is more likely to be rated highly...That wasn't the case with McCourty, he actually had a very nice day against the Ravens.
Well mayb a Balt person shuld way in...I read they were really high on guys on that list...White and Price I believe...also I think they traded that Shabazz
I said White was possible because he was having a strong camp and might have been a kick return option but he was really raw as a receiver and Ozzie is notorious for IR-ing guys who are close but not quite ready if they have so much as a hangnail. Shabazz was IR'd on August 8th and later they reached an injury settlement. The terms of the settlement aren't disclosed but they only happen if it's a relativity short term injury which means he really doesn't even belong on this list because if they want him all they have to do is sign him and play him. Sheldon Price I was wrong about. He actually made the 53 due to all the CB injuries and then went on IR for a concussion. He's eligible for return later in the year if they so choose. p.s. I live in the Baltimore market. You won't find too many Ravens fans that follow them team closer than I do. The notion that 95% on that list would have made the team shows your lack of knowledge about the team. Baltimore has had a large amount of injuires but until the Yanda injury the worst thing you could say is they lost a promising nickel corner in Tavon Young and then a guy that flashed in his place in Canady. But that would then ignore the fact that they have Smith, Carr, Humprhey and Webb who are going to eat up most of the snaps anyway. And it would also ignore the fact that it opened up a roster spot for a UDFA slot guy that they are really high on in Jaylen Hill. The most concentrated group of injuries (and one retirement) came on the o-line and you can make the argument that it forced them to sign Austin Howard who is a better RT than anyone they currently have or had. He's not a guy you want to throw 40x a game with but he's a really nice run blocker, much better than anyone else who they would have put out there. Alex Lewis is not good, Nico Siragusas was a 4th round rookie, although it's fair to say he has lost a year of development. People love to play up injuries, both media and fans alike but I challenge anyone to list the 25 most talented players on the Ravens roster pre-injury and come up with more than 2-3 guys who are no longer available to them. The defense was always going to be the side of the ball they hung their hat on and that unit is 98% in tact and playing well.
So... ... Browns lost 24-10 despite their line having the #3 overall tackle, #4 overall guard, and #4 overall center. Might be time to put more of the blame on the QB and RB for lack of production. @Lyman
